It would be an understatement to say that this book touched my heart and made me cry. I'm also a bereaved mother who lost an infant son, Matthew who was stillborn @ 35 weeks. There were so many thoughts and feelings that Jenny shared that I could relate to. There is something that draws us together when we join a club that no parent ever wants to join. Losing a child is a heart wrenching thing and changes you forever, good and bad.

There was something that Jenny said that was very poignant as you

I wanted to like this book. I thought it would give me spiritual insights on grief that I could share with others suffering the loss of a child but I found that the more I read, the more I thought the mother should get help. I understand anger at the loss of a child for I have lost a baby but I don't understand feeling that with enough faith and reading the right books that you can cure your problems. It helps to talk about your grief rather than locking it away and putting on a face so that eve ...more

Recently, there has been a theme appearing in my life–in books I have been asked to review, in the last Relief Society lesson I prepared and taught, in the conference talks I have read for my morning devotional. I was reminded of this yet again while reading In His Hands, as author Jenny

As I sit here and try and figure out what to tell you about the book, it’s hard to come up with the right words. Was it harrowing? Emotionally gripping? Uniquely compelling? It was all those things, and yet those words don’t seem to do it justice. It seems better to simply call it beautiful, and real and pure.

Jenny doesn’t hold anything back in this book. She walks you through every emotion that she felt as she struggled to come to terms with Russell’s death. She shares the darkness and the desp

This is an absolutely incredible book, for anyone who has ever experienced a traumatic loss, not just that of a child. Jenny's story is raw and difficult but ultimately full of hope. If you know someone who has experienced a sudden loss in their life and needs a gospel context for understanding and coping with the experience, I'm pretty sure that this is hands down the best book you'll ever find on the subject.
