It’s not easy, getting into the Word when your house is full of little ones who need you twenty-four hours a day.
But it’s essential.
The goal of this book is to offer special encouragement and help to busy mothers who need the nourishment of God’s Word in their demanding lives. 30 Days of Bible Study for Busy Mamas: Colossians 3 will help you slow down and really study the Bible, even if you can only study for a few minutes at a time.
Here is a simple but deep approach to Bible study, divided into five-minute portions that will leave you encouraged and excited as you discover that you can study the Bible, even when your house is full of children!
So here’s the challenge: Set aside just five to ten minutes a day – even if it’s just one minute at a time – to study the Bible. This book will help!
Includes thirty days of Bible study directions in Colossians 3, plus extra sections like:
Ideas for marking in your Bible How to make time for Bible study when you have small children How to study more on your own after you finish the 30 days in Colossians 3
This study started as a series of posts on Pam's Doorposts of Your House blog, where she discovered other busy mamas who were looking for simple but meaningful Bible study. If you aren't sure where to start, or if you don't think you have time for Bible study, this booklet will get you started!
This was just ok. Part of the issue is that I'm not the target audience - I don't have a household of littles (I have 4 kids, but the youngest is 12). The study was repetitive: there's just not a lot to get into in one chapter of Colossians, so the author seemed to really be reaching for content later in the 30 days. However, she kept talking about the "5 minutes a day" that she said the study should take, and I starting rolling my eyes. I imagine a young mom who's already got a day full of dishes, diapers, and laundry, feeling like a failure for not completing the study in 5 minutes. You could read the chapter in 5 minutes, but the assignments sometimes took me as long as 45 minutes...and I'm fairly quick at such things. Another warning: I never noted which translation of the Bible the author said that she used, so some of the word studies were more difficult than necessary as I scrolled through different translations on Bible Gateway, trying to find the phrase she said to look for.
I'm sorry, but I'll pass on future Busy Mamas studies because of the frustration quotient.

My Review:
Pam Forster has created a very unique Bible study just for us busy mamas. It is short and sweet and should take you up to fifteen minutes a day. In its entirety it's meant to last thirty days. It is based on the book of Colossians the third chapter.
Lets face it mothers are some very busy women. We do it all these days. Our devotional time with the Lord shouldn't suffer because of it. To be the best mom possible we need His help. So at first you can strive for under five minutes a day, that is exactly how forgiving this Bible study is.
The author continues throughout the book to enlighten and encourage us. She gives you assignments and would like for you to take notes along the way to help with a better understanding of the days readings. I know for me my time with the Lord is precious time that is well needed in my busy day. If it doesn't get done my day just doesn't flow right.
Although it maybe frustrating at first the author wants you and I to stay steadfast as we learn more about Colossians 3. Doing so only enriches and blesses what we do as mothers even more.

To start; I'm not a busy mama. I'm not even a mama (to the human variety that is...) But, I'm hesitant to do in-depth bible studies because sometimes it feels so over whelming. There is so much detail in the bible that you miss because you're just reading it, not studying it, so I decided to give this bible study book a chance. This is the very first bible study book I've ever worked through, so I can't really compare it on a scale to others, but I can talk about it from a 'new to bible study' point of view. Pam Forster encourages busy moms to take just 5 minutes a day to study chapter Colossians 3. Though you spend 30 days on this one chapter, each day you focus on a different area. It's well written and once a week there is a catch-up day or if you are already caught up, there is an extra assignment to go deeper into the studies. And though I am not a busy mama, and I easily fit time into my schedule to spend with God, Pam gives practical tips and ideas for working quiet Bible time into a busy life with rambunctious little ones. Though the study is in depth, this book is really helpful in breaking down Colossians 3. If you're like me, the idea of reading one chapter for the course of 30 days seems ridiculous! After 3 or 4 days you will have it down, right? Wrong, with this book looking at the chapter from different area focusing on different words used, it's amazing you realize and/or learn new things each day. In conclusion, as I said before it's written for "busy mamas" and I'm not one. This is also the first bible study book I've dealt with so I can't really compare.
The publisher provided me with a complimentary copy of the book through BookCrash in trade for an honest review.
Thirty Days of Bible Study for Busy Mamas by Pam Forster is the perfect morning inductive Bible Study. I have always desired to do a in depth Bible study, but lack for the time. Pam has taken the ideas of Kay Arthur and put them into small snippets for moms. This 30 day study has been amazing!
This study takes a look at Colossians 3, for a month! What, how can you get that much out of just one chapter in a book? You can and you will. By the end of the month you will have much of it memorized!
You can use any Bible you desire. One with wide margins are nice to jot down notes in. If you prefer just grab a notebook to keep with your study to write in. The book also has room at the end of the days lesson to jot a few notes down. I actually have the Inductive Study Bible so chose to use that for this study, giving me extra room if I chose. I decided to write my notes in the study book.
I so wish that when I had little ones that I had this book! I struggled to find time to study. I would get time to read a couple passages here and there, but my desire was to dig in. I highly recommend this book for busy mamas but also for those who have a little more time. If you have time, do two days instead of just one.
