The book is thin on narrative, but thick on photography.

There are, in essence, three chapters. The first addresses training of the Waffen-SS (the ideologically primed SS members who became part of the organization's military arm). The text is barely two pages long; I wish that this issue was described more leisurely. But following the slender textual element are a series of photos of the SS in training--from page 7-page 29.
