***DISCLAIMER*** I received a free copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. Thanks Louise!

First a breakdown of how I arrived at my rating. This book contains 5 short stories, the 4 stars is the average of how I felt about each story. Individually I will discuss the stories here.

A Flip of the Coin: 4 stars. This was a good story to begin with because it allowed you to dip your toes into this collection and get a feel for how things would proceed. The story itself was ve

You may not be old enough to remember Roald Dahl’s tales of the unexpected on television, but I am and you can find the first episode here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FaUkUA.... The reason I mention these delightful, if somewhat bizarre and often macabre little stories is that Louise catapulted me right back to the 1970′s. Her stories are bizarre, intriguing and not a little spooky. They captured the feeling that there is something more going on just out of the line of sight. It is the perfe ...more

Strange Ideas is 5 separate stories compiled into one book. I'll be honest, most of the time I don't read books like this, but this was a really refreshing read that I enjoyed a lot. I think I enjoyed it so much because the short stories were well written and I couldn't guess the end of each story from the beginning. Below is a few sentences about each story.

A Flip of the Coin is about a man named Jimmy that is on his deathbed in a hospital. Death comes to visit him and gives a unique way on how

Flip The Coin: I was hooked within the first page. The writing style was fluid and consistent. The characters wzere believable and came to life. The story was a,awing and nearly had me in tears a few times in public. Absolutely wonderful and heart wrenching: It will leave you reflecting on your own life.

Stamp: This story was a bit more in the horror/thriller genre. It was very zell done and had ,e at the edge of my seat through the whole thing. Even though I knw what would happen at the end;’ I

DISCLAIMER: I received a free advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This is a lovely collection of stories. At just under 200 pages it is the perfect short read to dip in and out of.
I was hooked from the first page of narrative; the evocative descriptive passages are beautifully done . The line “The scent of bleach and flowers tried, but failed, to mask the underlying odour of defecation and death.” Instantly transported me to a hospital/hospice setting, with all of the anxi

Well they say that life is like a box of chocolates and this time, I got the orange cream. Each one of these stories is like a lovely smooth chocolate, each tastes different and they all leave you wanting more. There's some serious talent in these stories and I hope that there's a full-length novel on the way because I'll be diving straight in!

There's five stories, each with a little strange and each with an interesting twist. They are all original and the whole anthology gives me a feel for Roa

I received this book as part of a Goodreads giveaway and would like to thank Louise for sending it to me.
As far as the book goes I enjoyed it. Each story was well written and well thought out with a nice change of tone from one story to the next.
The only slight downside was that there was a hint of predictability about the stories, with the likely endings becoming apparent, to me anyway, a few pages before you actually got there.
Overall it's a solid little collection that's worthy of reading. Th
