So I’m goin’ to go on the record and say that I didn’t give Jessica Sorensen five stars for this book.

She took them from me.

She took them from me with her absurdly beautiful story, with her heart-arresting characters, and with her words that belong in a jewelry box somewhere.

This author is fucking kickass.

And that’s all there is to say, really.

They grew up together, you know.

Ella and Micha, I mean.

With nothing but a fence that begged to be jumped over between their two houses, these two were inseparable.

She was a wild child, and he was the boy with the wild smile.

Then suddenly jean-clad races against childhood turned into car races against asphalt.
Secrets whispered into ears became confessions whispered into each other’s mouths.
Bedroom windows were left open and front doors became locked.

 photo download6.jpg

And in one night, life became very cruel for one of them.

And Ella left.

The girl he thinks he loves needs to disappear.

 photo download7.jpg

She wanted a new start and a new life and a new personality.

 photo tumblr_mkejas7J0n1qaobbko1_500.jpg

♦ She put away her spit-fire honesty and learned the art of white lies.
♦ She washed off her thick eyeliner and bought pretty pink eyeshadow.
♦ She replaced her combat boots with ballet flats.
♦ She traded in her quick laughter for slow smiles.

Until she had to go back eight months later, that is. Back to her hometown where she left her best friend in the middle of the night.

 photo stargrove.png

A long time ago, it felt like home, back when street racing and running wild felt natural, but now I just feel lost.

In what seems like minute-long hours… Ella is slammed back into a life she’d give anything to erase.

Well, almost everything.

 photo tumblr_mn7huxHPaQ1r1y0g8o1_500.jpg

He is my best friend, my soul mate. In a perfect world, full of roses and sunshine we’d be together, but this world is full of broken homes, drunken fathers, and mothers who give up easily.

The only thing worse than leaving Micha… is falling in love with Micha.

And Ella did. Hard.

So when she finds herself face-to-face with her childhood best friend and the love of her life, she soon realizes a couple of things:

♥ He still sucks on his lower lip ring when he concentrates.
♥ He’s still the boy all the girls want to have at 2 a.m.
♥ He’s still the most mischievously beautiful boy Ella’s ever met.

And he remembers everything.

Not only is he not cashing in on Ella’s new act and the fact that she’s pretending not to even care for him, he’s going to do everything to bring back that girl he used to know. And he will fight dirty.

I trap her down by the hips and conform her backside onto my lap. We fit together so perfectly it’s mind blowing and all those feelings I felt for her before she left come rushing back to me. I need more of her. Now. Oblivious to everyone around us, my hands gradually slide up her thighs.

“Micha.” She protests with a quiver in her voice. “Don’t. There are people…”

I silence her as my fingers brush the edges of her skirt.

But despite Micha’s wicked hands and heart-melting intentions…

Ella still tries to repaint the lines of their boundaries

Because all she wants is complete control over her life. And she wants to forget the night she lost all of it.

It clicks and I push the door open.

The scream that leaves my mouth could shatter the world’s happiness into a thousand pieces. But the silence that follows it is enough to dissolve it completely.

"It was one of the things that made me fall in love with her; the fire, passion, and the need to stick up for the outcasts, even if it meant being an outcast herself."

When Ella ran a away from home eigth months ago, she ran away because she wanted to forget. Forget about the past and everything that happened in the town she grew up in. But when she returns home from college, the walls she tried to built up around her heart slowly begin to fall apart when she's reunited with her best friend Micha. Ella and Micha have been next door neighbors almost their entire life and they have been inseperable ever since they were little. So, when Ella returns home as a new person, Micha is determined to bring the old Ella, the one he fell in love with, back.

"Micha, this is who I have to be otherwise I can't breathe. Please just leave it alone. That dame fire might exist, but I want it gone." I spin my back to him, praying he'll listen to me for once, because if he keeps it up, sooner or later I won't be able to resist.
But Micha has never backed down on a challenge in his life.

And so, Micha slowly but surely tries to win Ella back and he tries to make her realise that "You can't just change who you are on the outside and expect it to change who you are on the inside"...

To Micha there has never been anyone else. Sure, he's had his share of flings and hook-ups, but no other girl has ever been able to make him feel the way Ella does.

"As carefully as I can, I step over her bed and crawl in with Ella. I press my chest against her back, drape my arm over her waist, and feel the rhythm of her breathing. God, I've missed this way too much. It's not healthy. I burrow my face in her neck, smelling the scent of her hair, vanilla mixed with something that's only her.
I shut my eyes and for the first time in eight months, I fall into a peaceful sleep."

As a musician Micha also expresses his feelings towards Ella in the beautiful lyrics of the song he dedicated to her:

" I see it in your beautiful eyes, like a spot on the sun.
The things you want to hide, buried deep inside you.
Blinded by your light.
It almost hurts to look at, almost hurts to breathe.
Never can you look at the things no one ever sees
Shaded by your light.
Please take me inside you, please take me in.
Never will I whisper, never will I give in.
Even when I'm dying, your heart will always win.
Shielded to the sightless, isolated from the naïve.
Breaking you in pieces, that can only ever grieve.
Veiled by your light.
Passionate for the world, yet overlooked by most.
Your soul flickers in you, desperate to shine for the world.
But blinded by your darkness.
Please take me inside you, please take me in.
Never will I whisper, never will I give in.
Even when I'm dying, your heart will always win."

I really LOVED reading this story. I loved the strong personalities of both Ella and Micha and I loved the way the author Jessica Sorensen was able to give us a very clear perspective on both of the characters' point of view. Ella and Micha already have a special place in my heart and I can't wait to find out what the future holds in store for them so I'm definitely looking forward to the sequel "The Forever of Ella and Micha"!!!

YA Goodness!!

This is the first full-length book of the Ella and Micha saga. I enjoyed the novella so much and totally fell in love with these two love birds. I am enjoying taking their journey with them.

Childhood best friends, Micha fell in love with her at age fifteen and has been waiting three years for Ella to catch up.

She challenges me, pushes me, and pisses me off, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

I don’t want to give any of the storyline away, but suffice it to say, this one kept me churning through the pages. It ends not so much on a cliff hanger, but there is more to come as their romantic relationship is just getting started.

Talk about a s.l.o.w. b.u.r.n., but worth the wait. I am anticipating trouble ahead for this couple, so I am excited to read the next installment!

I love tension and angst in my romance reads ;)

*** NEW COVER ALERT *** This book will be rereleased in March with this new cover.

4.5 stars

“…when it all comes down to it, it’s just me and her against the world. Always has been.”

A beautiful friends to lovers story about a girl from a broken home and the bad boy who made her feel loved and safe again.

Ella and Micha came from a life of broken homes and bad neighbourhoods but ever since childhood, they have been there for each other – the best of friends. As they grew up, Micha wanted more but sensed something in Ella was holding her back and he never pushed her further.

Then one day, after their first kiss, Ella quite literally walks right out of his life. For eight months, he doesn’t hear a word from her. And ever since that day he has been desperately trying to find her.

Now, she suddenly she comes back home. But she has changed. Growing up, she always had been fiery – a rule breaker, an adreneline junkie, always speaking her mind, seizing the moment and taking risks – pretty much the girl equivalent of a bad boy. Now she’s a lot quieter, blends in more with people… is different.

But something made her leave and something is keeping her now from fully opening up to him and Micha will stop at nothing to figure out what has been keeping the girl he’s always been in love with away from him.

“See, the same old Ella still lives.” He grins… “She just needed a little push out.”…
“No, she doesn’t. She’s gone forever.”
“Try all you want, but I’m bringing her back,”

The characters are a wonderful mix of both endearing and mysterious. I felt like I knew just enough about them to connect me to them and to make me care but there was just enough that I didn’t know about them to keep up the mystery and the intrigue.

This book surprised me a lot – for some reason, this wasn’t the plot I was expecting but I really enjoyed the read.

Ella has pretty serious intimacy issues that stemmed from when she was a child – coming from a broken home, with a bi polar mother, a drunk father and an absentee brother… that kind of childhood would be bound to mark anyone.

But she had Micha who was just *swoon* a gorgeous character. A tattoed, musician bad boy with a lip ring, the kindest heart and a serious soft spot for this girl that he’s loved since he was sixteen.

It took Ella a while to accept Micha’s feelings for her. And at first I found it a little frustrating, but the more I learned about her character, the more I found her reactions understandable.

And when she finally realized that there’s this guy who has been there for her her whole life and whole is just head over heels in love with her – like truly, deeply in love – who’d do anything for her, oh my swoon is it beautiful!

“I love you, Ella May and nothing will ever change that. You can push me away -run away – and I will still love you.”

I could just feel how much he loved her. He’d do anything for her. Drop his life. Give up anything. This girl is his world. And he loved her enough to be patient with her and just be her friend while she sorted out her world.

“Stay here, baby,” he whispers…”Trust me, okay?” Don’t run.”

And guys, don’t go into this expecting some big “they-are-really-secret-agents” kind of secret. That’s really not the point of this book. The secrets are deeper than that. Its the complex sum of the emotions and experiences that have made them both who they are. What drives them. What kept them apart. What ultimately brings them together.

And omg the ending!! I swear my heart stopped! I was sensing a total Effortless vibe there. I totally didn’t expect that ending and I know everything will mostly likely be okay in the end but in the meantime, seriously… SNIFFFFFFF!!

Thank god for the mini-epilogue! It healed my heart and left me in a happy place…. but desperately looking forward to Book 2 “THE FOREVER OF ELLA AND MICHA” which will be released on November 3rd!! I WAN T MORE!!!

I definitely recommend giving this book a shot and guess what?? Its only $0.99 on Amazon right now so go go go !!

**little tidbit from the author: I was curious how to pronounce “Micha” whether it was Meesha or My-ka and she confirmed that the way she says it is “My-ka”

The scream that shatters my mouth could shatter the world's happiness into a thousand pieces. But the silence that follows it is enough to dissolve it completely.

3.5 stars. With a review opener like that, you'd think I was about to delve right into talking about how crazy this book was, or how shocking the secret was.

Picture me doing that noise when you've hit a whammy...that wauh, wauh, wauh, noise. This book had a few secrets, but nothing really smacked me in the face.

However, I did enjoy Ella and Micha It was a sweet and hot little friends-to-lovers story. Even though there was nothing new here and I felt like I'd read other, similar stories, I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys watching the guy chase the girl as he's teasing her, plying her, and sexily begging her to give him a chance. These are the types of romances which get one's heart beating just a little bit faster.

I would have preferred to have seen less cliches (constant references to eye color and smells, bad boy that's used everyone girl in his path while he only truly wants the one girl who's always evaded him, etc.), over-used romance terms (coming apart, ripples deep inside my core, etc.), and music references which will date the story in a few years - this was still a good effort for a first-in-a-series book. Something about this author's writing style reminds me of Abbi Glines - this could be either a good thing or a bad thing. While Glines is excellent at sexual tension, she tends to recycle her characters and plots too much for my liking. I'm honestly unsure why Ella and Micha wasn't a standalone book instead of a series, but since I was entertained by this couple, I'll go along for the ride and see where things take me.

Overall, the steam factor was decent for a New Adult, and the romance was engaging. Since the book straddles the line in content between YA and Adult, I could see it appealing to readers of either medium. You can't go too wrong with a hot, up-and-coming rock star. Here's hoping that the drama ahead doesn't go too far into silly groupie stratosphere.

Ever wondered what would life be like if you could run away and be someone else? Go to a place where no one knows you and have a brand new beginning?? Who would you be then?? Ever thought about it??

But is it really that easy to leave your past behind? Is it possible to be ever completely free from it?? To forget everything about it and those who were in it???

Meet Ella May Daniels, a girl who tried to run away from her past, who thought she could leave everything and everyone behind and become someone in control of her fate. She is a girl from the rougher side of the town....a girl who used to race with boys and against them, who spoke what was on her mind, who hung around with guys and acted like a daredevil and tried to show the world that she had a tough hide, who didn't give a damn about what anybody else thought of her.....and who used to have studs on every item of clothing she owned and enough black eyeliner to make an entire sketch...... ;)

But a night, one night changed all that.........

The scream that leaves my mouth could shatter the world’s happiness into a thousand pieces. But the silence that follows it is enough to dissolve it completely.

And after that night her life changes, something shatters inside her, maybe her soul.......

And so she runs, tries to outrun her past, the people in it, everyone and everything......becomes someone unrecognisable, someone in control of her passions, someone who only appeared happy but never was, someone who lied, someone who pretended, someone who was unable to face herself in the mirror. Now secrets defined her.....

A long time ago, it felt like home, back when street racing and running wild felt natural, but now I just feel lost.

But for how long could she keep up the pretence when she has to go back to the place she ran away from? How long could the walls she'd built around herself hold when someone was determined to batter them down and bring back that fire and passion in her?

Meet Micha Scott,, the guy who's been in love with her since forever, who's been frantically trying to find her, who when he finally gets her back is determined to bring back the girl he knew and loved.

He is the only one person she'd ever let in......

He is my best friend, my soul mate.

But that one night had changed it all....it had blurred their lines of friendship and turned it into something more....and scared, she'd run......but he wasn't giving up.....

It was one of the things that made me fall in love with her; the fire, passion, and the need to stick up for the outcasts, even if it meant being an outcast herself.

His eyebrows knit. “It’s like you’ve been kidnapped by a bunch of nuns or something.”
“Maybe I was,” I say submissively. “It wouldn’t hurt anyone if I was.” He considers this and an artful smirk curves at his lip. “That’s not true. Nuns can’t have sex and I still haven’t fulfilled my lifelong dream of having sex with you.”

So he brings out the old Ella again....

“I see it in your beautiful eyes, like a spot on the sun.
The things you want to hide, buried deep inside you.
Blinded by your light.
It almost hurts to look at, almost hurts to breathe.
Never can you look at the things no one ever sees Shaded by your light. Please take me inside you, please take me in.
Never will I whisper, never will I give in.
Even when I’m dying, your heart will always win.

He loves being the one to help her, her very own knight in the shining armour....

And so she races again....

And dances again....

And laughs again.......

She is not quite the old Ella yet but a mixture of the old and new......

But that night still keeps them apart.....

“There seems to be a lot of things, which I think might be a hint that you and I belong together.”

But she isn't ready......

Theirs is the kind of love that will last forever only if they give themselves a chance.....

“I love you, Ella May and nothing will ever change that. You can push me away—run away—and I will still love you.”

What is the secret that's keeping them apart????

It’s a secret between us.

So, readers, you go and find out what's the secret while I wait for their forever.......

Even when I’m dying, your heart will always win.”

They have been together since the day he gave her his toy car and persuaded her to be his friend.....

They were together the day he cried and she gave him her Popsicle and sat with him till he ran out of tears...

But will they end up together forever??

Read the book and find out..... ;)

description

Overall, I enjoyed reading this book. The heroine's martyr-ism drove me crazy at time, but the awesomeness of the hero more than made up for it. Jessica Sorensen has a talent for emo storytelling that's as hopeful and sweet as it is depressing. There's a sequel but the "happy for now ending" left me more than satisfied. If you enjoy the new adult genre and don't mind an overabundance of angst and drama that surprisingly will also put a smile on your face while making you swoon, then I definitely recommend this book.

“I love you, Ella May and nothing will ever change that. You can push me away—run away—and I will still love you.”

This is such a sweet ‘new adult’ style romance between two friends, Ella and Micha, who have known each other forever, growing up together. They both come from dysfunctional families – Micha’s Dad ran out on them when he was 6 and Ella’s Dad is an alcoholic and her mother suffers from bipolar disorder with delusions of grandeur.

Just as Ella and Micha were about to take their relationship further than friendship one dark and stormy night, Ella decides to run to college without telling Micha where she is going. Traumas in her past that she blames herself for have pushed her over the edge and she decides to reinvent herself.

Now, 8 months later, she is back, barely recognisable as the girl that had run from Micha. The old Ella burned brightly with an inner fire, she was reckless and fiery and passionate and always honest. Now she has repressed all that we she was deep inside and created a façade of a polite and preppy student but Micah can still see the old Ella, his Ella, burning on the inside and he wants her back.

Ella broke my heart – her perceived guilt completely defines her. She’s pretending to be happy as the new Ella and not quite getting there, she’s not looking in mirrors because she can’t bear to look at herself, and she’s almost suffocating with panic over her memories. She’s been able to change who she is on the outside but can’t truly change what is on the inside and certainly can’t mask her body’s instinctive and fiery reaction to Micha and her blood is roaring with yearning to be close to him again.

Micha has his own demons to contend with but, despite growing up on the wrong side of the tracks, he’s incredibly mature and grounded and decides to hide these from Ella. He’s worried about her and instinctively wants to protect her. He’s confident he can rekindle the flame and bring the old Ella back.

They’re so sweet together – they complete each other. It’s a lovely young romance and I’m looking forward to the next chapter in their story.

The Secret of Ella and Micha was a romance full of SMOKING hot chemistry from years of pent up attraction. The best kind of romance, in my book, is one that starts from years of friendship and grows into so much more. *sigh*

After a night that scared her to the core, Ella Daniels picked up and left her hometown without a word to any of her friends. She doesn’t even tell her best friend, Micha, she just picks up and leaves. Ella has to return home after eight months hiding out at college, because she’s got no where else to go for the summer break. She dreads seeing Micha again because before she left, the tension that had been building between them led to an earth shattering kiss, and she doesn’t want to be tempted back into her old life again. What she doesn’t realize is how much she missed him and how good he is for her. Do you really have to change your whole personality to keep from repeating past mistakes? Ella’s about to find out.

Micha was torn up the day Ella went missing. His whole focus was to find her. He stopped partying and playing music, and gave up girls too. Even though Ella and Micha weren’t a couple before she left, they we’re on that track. He was too afraid to admit his feelings to her for fear she’d bolt. Now that she’s back in town, Micha plans on showing Ella she can be herself without turning into her parents. He’s not going to let her run away from him this time! Luckily for Ella, Micha has a lot of patience and control. I love how he sticks it out for her and lays it all on the line:

”I love you, Ella May and nothing will ever change that. You can push me away—run away—and I will still love you.”

I love this type of romance where the characters have a history and know details about each other that only comes from time spent together. By the time Ella comes back, the feelings they have for each other have built up so much they’re about to explode! Here’s Ella’s thought when she first sees Micha again:

If he keeps looking at me that way, my restraint is going to melt into a puddle of hot, steamy liquid. Micha has the most piercing eyes in the world, aqua blue, like the sea, waved with equal intensity.

All I have to say is: “Give in Ella!” With those piercing blue eyes and his sexy lip ring, *dies* and a penchant for a little danger (muscle car street racing never sounded so hot!) who could blame a girl?!

People should have real plots in their minds before starting to write a book.
Seriously!

In fact they should read about 100 books in the same genre before coming up with a new story because they tend to do the same mistakes (and maybe they could learn from the others) and these stories tend to blend in with each other so that it would be funny if it weren't so annoying - really, there always seem to be two characters with broken lives (a tragedy in one's life is a must) that can't possibly be together for no apparent reason (even though they like each other), but then all of the sudden they have sex and then simply makeup.
The end.

No, really, that's all there is to this story too.
Sounds familiar?
Well, maybe you've seen this in almost all the other books in this New Adult trend, huh? How'bout that? I bet it does ring a few bells.

I'm not sure about other readers, but I am getting really tired of this genre where all books have underdeveloped story-lines that get to nowhere, characters all over the place that think in a way and then act right the other way around (hello personality, nice to meat you but I don't need you in my book), awkward conversation that don't ever belong to real life... and I could still go on and on about the things I dislike about this NA thing, because they describe this story so 'nicely'. In fact I will mention one more thing: they are usually poorly written.

So this is me being done with this poor excuse of a genre, with this book that so many people liked that I'm starting to wonder if there's something wrong with me for not finding in the story all the things they raved about.
And no, don't get me wrong, I don't judge you if you liked this story, I am really glad for you... I just can't seem to find any kind of enjoyment in these books. That's all.

Happy midnight reading!

“There’s a darkness inside my chest, like the devil hidden inside me is about to make a grand appearance.”

This is the story of two young people, Micha and Ella, inseparable since childhood, daredevils at heart, ‘soul mates’ from the get go. One tragic event in Ella’s life changes everything - she loses herself in her pain, drowning in guilt and regret, and she does the only thing she can think of before her mind shatters completely - she runs away. She runs away from everything and everyone she knows. She leaves the sad and guilt-ridden little girl behind to become a ‘new’ Ella that doesn't allow her emotions to rule her life. She can't fix the pain inside her chest but she can silence the screaming voice inside her head by re-inventing herself and regaining the control that she so desperately clings to. But Ella also ends up leaving behind the one person she loves the most in her life, the only person that knows even the deepest corners of her broken soul and loves her all the same - Micha.
“Micha saw too much of me and it scared me too much to let him in all the way.”

Micha is the proverbial bad boy - a road-racer, a musician, tattoos and piercing and all. But his tough guy appearance is just a façade. He is an incredibly sensitive and caring young man, a loyal friend, a responsible and loving son, a patient and selfless boyfriend. Micha and Ella’s friendship gradually blossoms into deep romantic feelings for each other, but while Micha embraces them wholeheartedly, Ella fights them with all she’s got, struggling to admit to herself that she is in love with her best friend.
“I want Micha so bad it physically hurts sometimes. But if it hurts to want him this much, then how bad would it be to lose him?”

Theirs is a story of friends becoming lovers, of allowing love into your heart even when feelings are the last thing you want to allow under your defensive cape. There is no way of fighting those feelings, especially ones that are so solidly founded on friendship and loyalty to each other. There is nothing Ella and Micha wouldn’t do for one another - they are each other’s anchor in a life that has been everything but kind to them.

Once their friendship naturally evolves into romance, they tackle their relationship gently, never hastily or forcefully. They give each other time, space, support, they allow one another to find their footing and draw strength from their bond rather than let themselves be consumed by compulsion and chemistry. I particularly admired them for not just giving in to their desire to be together all the time, but instead continuing to pursue their own dreams as well, using their love as a source of courage and support, driving them forward and letting them take chances in their lives.

By giving us alternating points of view, the author has made sure that we get to know both characters equally. We get to bond with each of them, loving them for such different reasons. We love Ella because she is a broken soul who is so scared of losing control and becoming like her mother that she was willing to give up on the greatest happiness that she had ever known in her life. We feel protective towards her, we want her safe, to shield her, … to give her Micha.
“The kiss … was an earthshattering kiss, one that stole breaths, stopped hearts, and scared the sh*t out of me because it surfaced feelings Id never felt before, ones that rendered me helpless.”

Micha is an absolute dream. Ella is drawn to him because he is familiar, he is comforting, he gets her. He loves any and all versions of her, whether she decides to be a foul-mouthed eyeliner-wearing Goth, or a pastel-adoring cheerleader-type. His love for her left me gushing, sighing, drooling …
“You can’t just change who you are in the outside and expect it to change who you are on the inside.”

This is the story of a truly selfless love. Micha and Ella don’t suffocate each other with selfish demands, ultimatums or by manipulating each other’s feelings. Their friendship has made sure that they trust each other implicitly, always cheering each other on in everything they do. This book carries for me such a positive message amongst a myriad of similar stories where we are conditioned to equate over-possessiveness and jealousy with true affection, where mind-games are seen as endearing and where controlling one’s partner is considered sexy. I was drawn to the story from the very first page. These characters captured my heart, gave me a constant but gentle fluttering in my chest, making me feel what they were feeling and leaving me hungry for more of their story.

The next book in The Secret series, The Forever of Ella and Micha, will be released on 3 November 2012, and the third book, The Temptation of Lila and Ethan, on 29 December 2012. I. Cannot. Wait.

I am baffled at how this book got such a high rating.

The writing was mediocre, at best... and, I'm sorry, but every time Micha "sucked on his lip ring" I got grossed out, which completely defeats the purpose of this book. The characters have no substance or personality, and every time Micha calls Ella "pretty girl" I just picture an obnoxious parrot screaming "Pretty girl, pretty girl."

It was a super quick and easy read, but I obviously won't be continuing with this series.

"Micha, this is who I have to be otherwise I can't breathe. Please just leave it alone. That dame fire might exist, but I want it gone." I spin my back to him, praying he'll listen to me for once, because if he keeps it up, sooner or later I won't be able to resist. But Micha has never backed down on a challenge in his life."

The Secret of Ella and Micha was a beautiful and touching read about forgiveness, moving on, and love. About a girl who lost herself on the way of grief and blame, and a boy who was trying to put her back together, even if he was broken himself. He was trying to destroy the walls she has put around herself.

The girl he thought he loved needs to disappear. I don't want tonight to be irreversible, so i pull away, breathing him in one last time.

When Ella went away to collage she left everything behind.
And turned into someone else, hiding her pain behind a mask she put on.
But now it's summer, and she has nowhere else to go.
Except back to Micha...

Micha can get under Ella's skin like no one else
He'll temp the old Ella back at any costs.
And she knows it'll be hard to resist.
Will her facade break?

Will the secret of Ella and Micha be revealed?

For some reason i couldn't get into this book in the beginning at all. Maybe because Ella was annoying me. She is one of those characters that deny love because of something that isn't their fault, and for a stupid reason in general. They keep on thinking they don't deserve anything, as a result push people away, and that get's on my nerves pretty badly.

stash 1 50ecaab44da9e zpsd157500e

When it all comes down to it, it's just me and her against the world. Always has been.

I loved Micha! He's not only a solo guitarist with an amazing, and sexy voice. But he's also a real hottie who takes care of Ella, supports her, helps her, and is always there for her even when she wasn't there for him. Even when she pushes him away he stands his ground and tries to turn her back into a girl she once was.

tumblr lylefh3ox U1qep71v

And there is definitely something more to Ella's friend - Lila. She seemed cliche to the readers, even to the characters from the book. But i feel like there is something more hidden down there, and i would love it if she got her own book or trilogy/series.

tumblr mnqs0ngl En1srauo2o1 500

What was the most beautiful thing about this book was the relationship between Ella and Micha. There were so many hot and sweet scenes between them, like; When they made out in the shower, or when he climbed though her window and fell asleep next to her.

I had a little panic attack towards the end. However, i'm glad they made it and everyone was happy.

Overall, The Secret of Ella and Micha was a wonderful read that had me swooning and touched my heart. Really great read about childhood best friends to lovers kinda thing. Definitely recommend this, and i'll be reading book 2 for sure soon! I'll leave you off with one of Micha's songs for Ella...

Awwwwwwwwww that was beautiful. The ending was perfect....and I just loved this book so much!!!! Ella, Micha, Lila and Ethan were all great characters. I can not wait to continue with the next book!!! It truly had my heart soaring with joy, love and a lot of heart pounding....holy crap-the sexual tension was Hot hot hot!!!!!!

"Suddenly, I get a little nervous. This is the first time I've ever been with someone I've cared about and it's going to be different." -Micha

First of all, I love that cover. Wow, just the cover makes me swoon! And I never really found lip piercings to be that sexy-but Micha changes my mind completely. So aside from the cover-which is screaming to be read, I found myself really enjoying this ride.

Ella and Micha were best friends for a very long time. They went through so much together. But one night-8 months ago, Ella up and leaves. Leaving her past-and Micha behind to attend college in Las Vegas without so much as a goodbye. Ella is trying to reinvent herself, she was not happy with who she was and tries to go for the good girl persona instead of the "I don't take shit from anyone" attitude that makes her so darn irresistable to Micha. That version was also the one that made him fall in love her. But when she comes back for the summer having nowhere else to, she is forced to relive her past where her mother killed herself, her dad is an alcohlic and estranged brother gets engaged without telling anyone since he lives away from home and loses contact with the family. It's also where she has to confront her feelings for Micha once and for all.

Micha is your amazing tongue pierced, sexy bad boy who spent the last 8 months searching for the one that got away. He's loved her for years and the night he tells her is the night she leaves him. He's heartbroken and miserable without his best friend. Determined to find her when she shows up at home-next door I might add. When he meets the new Ella-he's not pleased. He wants his old Ella back-the one that made his body do crazy things. The one that screamed sexy things in his mind and lose himself in her. He meets Ella's college roommate Lila, which both of them know 2 very different versions of the same person. Can he bring back the old Ella without destroying her?

I loved this book-to pieces. It was really a beautiful story of friendship, love, pain, grief, loss and healing. Both characters are dealing with pasts that haunt them. But together, they are stronger people than they realize and in order to face their demons, they have to come face to face with their feelings for each other.

I didn't cry with this book. But it was emotional at times. However, every scene with Micha made my body do crazy things. He was just amazing and sexy and very swoony.

“when it all comes down to it, it’s just me and her against the world. Always has been.”-Micha

I loved reading this book from Micha's POV. His voice was sweet yet entrancing. I really felt his pain when he felt he lost his best friend. Or when he was going through that brief encounter with his dad. My heart ached for him. But he was a tough guy and eventhough you could tell through his facade, he was also an emotional sweet guy. I loved that he wasn't completely macho. It's always nice to see emotions peek through when it comes to guys. But every chapter with his voice I was giddy. I can never say enough-I'M A SUCKER FOR THE MALE'S POV!! And his did not disappoint. I heart you Micha Scott! *swoon*

Ella was a great character. She was not annoying and once her resolve broke and crumpled to the ground-I liked her even more. I know she had been through alot and was scared about her feelings for Micha, but it was obvious how much she loved him. It pissed me off though when she would tell him she didn't want him with any other girl yet she wouldn't tell him why. I wanted to hit her. But once her words were out there, I felt better and less inclined to smack a bitch up, which was good though because I really liked Ella.

I loved Ethan and Lila. Both were great secondary characters. Although in the beginning, I was skeptical of Lila. She seemed too prim and proper and I was wondering how she would really fit in with Ella's life. But eventually she warmed up to me and I even feel like there is more to her than meets the eye. I liked her and Ethan's chemistry. There seems to be something there and I can't wait to read the third book in this trilogy-which is Ethan and Lila's story. YAY!!!!

Overall, this was a wonderful read through and through. I was glad I picked it up. It did not disappoint-which makes me happy because holy bloody fucking hell, that cover is GORGEOUS!!!!! So go get this book and read it. It's really worth the read! Also, it's a little quicker than I would have liked so hopefully the sequel is longer because I want more Ella and Micha. And definitely want more steam because their sexual tension is UHHHH-MAZING!!!!! I seriously wanted a cold shower after a few scenes. Sheeeesh! LOVE!!!

Amazing 5 star read!

Knjiga me je odmah uvukla.

A great read. Made me a little emotional at times, but I really liked it.
Ella and Micha have been best friends for a long time. Something huge happens in Ella's life and for the last 8 months she has essentially changed most things about her; her look attitude etc. Not only that, but no one really knows where she is including Micha. When she finally comes home from school after this 8 months we meet Micha -swoon... and holy hell that lip ring ;) Loved how their story came together and I really just adored Micha. So happy there will be another book- yay!

To repeat what I tweeted while I was halfway through this book – All this angst and not a single blueberry muffin in sight! Life can be so unfair sometimes.

Honestly, this book oozes angst, and while I know there are many readers who enjoy just that (proven by the very fact that this book is a New York Times bestseller), I’m not a fan myself. However, that’s not to say that I didn’t enjoy this book – I did. I just thought it was pushed a bit too far at times.

Ella and Micha have been best friends since childhood, but they were always either too afraid to take their friendship further, or there was something standing in their way. Neither of them comes from a happy home. Ella’s mother is dead and her father is an alcoholic, and Micha’s father walked out ages ago, never to be heard from again. Through it all, they always had each other, until one day, Ella just packed up and disappeared, without telling anyone where she can be found.

Micha spent the next eight months obsessively searching for Ella. He always knew he loved her, but he waited for her to come to him, and when she left, he realized it might be too late. He put his life on hold and moved heaven and earth to find her, but Ella was nowhere to be found. When she suddenly reappeared, Micha decided he’d waited long enough. It was clear to him that he and Ella were made for each other, so all he had to do was convince her of that fact.

In a way, I’m glad neither Ella nor Micha resolved their family situations in the end. That would have turned this book into a fairy tale, and I dislike fairy tales on principle. It was never about making their lives perfect, it was about facing everything that comes at them together. Things as big as alcoholism or estrangement can’t be resolved overnight, but I loved seeing them make their peace with their respective situations.

Although I’m not in the habit of punishing books (or authors) for things that are entirely the publisher’s fault, I feel I have to point out that The Secret of Ella and Micha is chock full of editing issues. There are spelling errors, grammar errors and formatting errors on almost every page. I realize it was self-published first, but I thought the whole purpose of traditional publishing was to avoid this kind of thing. A half-decent copy editor could have fixed this in no more than a few days.

Clearly every successful book gives birth to a trilogy these days, and that is the case with The Secrets of Ella and Micha. They will be getting a sequel soon that will apparently focus on their family situations and issues with long distance relationship. After that, Lila and Ethan will be getting their own book as well.

Meet my Micha. He looks and acts like a bad boy, but he is actually a very gentle soul. Yes, he have done some serious sleeping around back in a day and yes, he does illegal street car racing. His parents did screwed up his life, but he is trying to put that behind him and clean up his act. Plus, he is very sweet and gentle with Ella, that's why I forgive him :).

description

Meet his baby, Chevy Chevelle. He and Ella have had some hot make out sessions in this car, on every surface of it! (Ella, you lucky bitch!).

description

This book reminded me a lot of Fast Furious, a lot of action, but had some tender scenes in between the races.
I never understood why Ella ran off. Was it embarrassment or humiliation because of what happened that night on the bridge 8 months ago? I hope to read more about it in the next book, which I hope will come out soon.

I loved it. Very sweet, sexy and heartbreaking story of Micha and Ella.

WOW!! Holy hot tension with a smokin' bad boy!! I dove into this story the night it started popping up on GR, and my heart is still racing from the chemistry between these characters!! Secret is a heart-wrenching, captivating, sexy thrill ride of a romance story that grips you to the last page, and I just LOVED it!

First of I am head-over-heels for Micah!!! He embodied all of my favorite bad-boy qualities, being the gorgeous trouble-making daredevil with the heart of gold and mind in the gutter!! We get to see both his and Ella's POV, and honestly I was looking forward to every chapter from his filthy mind! *swoons* But he was so incredibly gone for Ella, having spent the 8 months since she picked up and left him desperately trying to find her so he could feel whole again. She was his heart, and when she left he just wasn't the same, and the moment she steps back into his life it was like a meteor landing at his feet! He needs her more than she could ever imagine, and I was just melting over the love he has for her! Ella, having changed her whole persona to forget about her miserable life back home, was a bit snotty at first. She was so intent on denying her roots and her messed up childhood that she threw away everything and everyone to be this new person. But Micah slowly starts to pull the real Ella out-not necessarily the same reckless, immature girl that left town, but certainly not the stuck-up student that came home for the summer!

The more Ella tries to deny her feelings for Micah, the more he pushes her to admit they were meant for each other. She pretends to think it's just Micah being Micah, but deep down she knows what he feels for her. Which scares her to death. Her life with a bi-polar mother who took her own life, and a father who's turned into a useless drunk, makes her put up giant walls around her heart. But being back at home, back around Micah and their old lives, makes her realize she can't just hide away, and there was SO much anticipation and tension as Micah whittled away at her defenses!!! It was HOT, HOT, HOT!! There aren't a lot of characters with chemistry together that's good enough to make my heart race over a kiss alone, but DANG, Sorensen had me breathless over these two just from the makeout sessions (and there were several)!! And I really loved that they didn't just jump into bed together, too, it would have cheapened the moment. It was well worth the wait, believe me!!

I didn't realize going into this that there was a second book, so I'm REALLY excited for more of these characters! Their story still has much to be told, and I can't wait to see Micah and Ella finally get their HEA!!

Yep, totally needed one of these ^^ when I was done reading this book! What an incredibly, beautifully written story. It was one I had NO intentions of reading this weekend, and I am so glad I picked it up this morning at the insistance of the TBBB! :o) (Thanks, girls!) I can't believe I wasn't going to read this one over some stupid hang up I have over upside-down kisses like in the Spiderman Movie. Dumb! Yep, took one look at the cover and said...Nope! Big mistake! So glad I read it.

Ella's life is no stranger to tragedy. And Micha has been by her side every step of the way. Then one day, everything changes. One day, after an unexpected kiss exchanged between the childhood best friends, Ella packs up and leaves town without telling anyone where she's going, especially Micha. Eight long months go by and she finds herself heading home for summer break to where all the tragedy in her life has occurred, and Micha. But things are different now. Or are they!?

Riding this emotional journey with Ella and Micha was amazing and entertaining. Jessica Sorensen had a way of bringing so much life into the characters and pulling you in. I felt like an adrenaline junkie, sittin' in that Chevelle, barreling down the back road with Ella and Micha. It was exhilarating!

And then there is Micha!!!! OMG...what girl can't say enough about him... :o) That whole bit where he takes her to the Coffee Shop for Open Mic night and is looking all fine and sings the song only to her....!?

Did I say Hot?! I know, right!? Ok..that's enough! I think you get the point. ;o)

Thank you, Jessica, for creating something so beautiful. I will most definitely be continuing with this series! :o)

Cover & Title - 5 out of 5
Favorite Lines - "It's what's buried deep inside that frightens me because it's broken, like a shattered mirror." & "Micha, this is who i have to be otherwise I can't breathe. Please just leave it alone. That damn fire might exist, but i want it gone."
Favorite Character - Elle

They don't know my head is a mess
No, they don't know who I really am
And they don't know what
I've been through like you do
And I was made for you...

Oh god i LOVED this book.
It was heartbreaking at times reading how Elle felt, so truly moving. Elle was such a brilliantly complex character who i couldn't help but love as soon as i was introduced to her. I felt consumed by Elle & Micha's emotions. Their chemistry was sublime, the build up of sexual tension was delicious. The affection which either lead had for each other was beautiful. They were each others band-aid's. I got lost in the story, I never wanted it to end.

I would recommend this book & I cannot wait to read the next in the series.

Ella and Micha are just the cutest!! Meant for each other, to hold the other when one falls, to love and care. They share such a beautiful relationship and a special bond. I love how much he loves and cares for her, its heart warming.

They way the author talks about Ella's eyes! WOAH (y)
And Micha's lip piercing, holy hell I want to suck on it too.
The sexual tension of the book is AMAZING.. I was literally yelling 'DO HIM ELLA' at my laptop screen hehehe

Some reviews have compared this book to Pushing the Limits, NOPE, Sorry.. It so isn't like that. PtL has a thousand more emotions and its heart breaking to read. While this isn't in that league.

Finally a good book!

Oh how I loved this book. It is a young adult book about a boy and a girl who have know each other forever... and discover each other again. What a ride!

They both have battle scars. Ella has been dealing with the loss of her mother. Micha is dealing with his father's abandonment. Ella wants to run from everyone and everything she has ever know and start over. There is just one problem, Micha is not ready to let her go.

Oh how I love a bad boy. Add in a wonderful lip ring that he likes to play with and I'm swooning. 5 happy dance stars!

As GD would say, I liked it. It wasn't ok, and I didn't really like it. I just liked it, as one does an average chocolate because you can't eat the imported ones every day.

And I'm going to read the next one because who can deny chocolate? Even if it's milk chocolate that's been kept in the refrigerator for more than an hour.

Sad to say this was a disappointment. I wasn't expecting a masterpiece or anything. This is NA we're talking about but I was expecting to like it, having liked the previous book from this series. Guess not. I do think this will be my last book from her. Two strikes is enough for me *shrugs*

It got me so hyped, absorbed and addicted.
Micha got me wild and sooo ready toooo… do something dirty DANCE!

Then I recommend you get your hands on this unbelievably sexually stimulating book!
Okay so let’s get down to the review.

THE GIST:

Ella has always had this wild streak in her. That was one of the reasons why she and Micha got along.
But something happened and it made Ella want to run.
Wanting to forget, Ella went to college and left everything behind including Micha whose heart was shattered to pieces.
For the summer, Ella has to come back to the place she desperately wants to forget. She had to go back and show them that she was a different person now. She was determined to show everyone that she was the “new” Ella.
But Micha was not convinced.
He wants her Ella back and he was going to do everything he can to make sure it happens.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS

I have always been a sucker for pretty covers. This one definitely has to be one of them. I mean just look at the two of them. Don’t they just look cute? The girl with the fiery red lipstick and the hot guy with the lip ring wanting to kiss each other but don’t want to because they were trying to be cute? Hahaha. But they are cute. And I think they were a good representation of the book. The cover was not deceiving because the inside of the book was just as cute as the cover.

CHARACTERS

Ella

I liked the before Ella really. I mean all of us mistakes and it was only right that she gets the chance to forgive herself for those. Although the old Ella was a little wild and carefree and sometimes out of control, I liked her because she was true to herself. I have never been a fan of people who try to change who they are because they always think of how other people will think of them. Ella was a sad, broken girl felt that she didn’t have anything in her life. She had a mother who was bipolar, a father who drunk himself to death and a brother who was the first to leave the house because he doesn’t want to deal with all of it. Who could blame Ella for wanting to make a change in her life to improve herself? I definitely don’t but leaving your problems behind and pretending it isn’t there doesn’t solve anything. But Ella was a strong girl. I admired her will for a change but I have to admit I got pretty pissed that she was trying to push away the person who cared the most about her. Who? Well you should know that by now already. :p

Micha

And then we have Micha, the not-so-knight-in-shining-armor of our story. Why did I say that? Because Prince Charming is supposed to be all perfect, who has everything planned out for himself and his future princess. But Micha wasn’t that. He was hot as hell sure plus he definitely knows how to please a woman!!! take care of the people he loves but still he wasn’t perfect. Micha was Ella’s knight in shining armor but he was rough around the edges which I think was even better. Micha’s character was totally believable. I love him because he wasn’t perfect. He has his flaws too especially when it comes to his father who I’d rather not talk about. Another thing I’d like to emphasize, Micha is just HOT AS HELL with all that singing of his with a ring on his lip. Not only that he also has, additional things that he could do that I’d rather not mention because just thinking about it makes me… aroused heated up HAPPY. Yeah reading about Micha makes me happy. :p

*There were bunch of other characters in the story but I’d like to focus on the two because mainly the story revolves around them. I’d like to still introduce you guys to Lila and Ethan. I liked those two because they were good friends to our lovely couple. Lila was your typical rich kid but then again after reading about her, I kind of liked her even though she was still a rich spoiled brat to me. Ethan also has his story to tell I believe but I guess that is for another story. Oh did I totally forgot the part that I think Lila and Ethan have a thing for each other? :p

MICHA + ELLA = JAM-PACKED WITH SEXUAL TENSION

I love Micha and Ella to death but as I was reading this book I wanted to smack Ella in the head the whole time. I wanted to shake her up and say, “GIRL YOU ARE PASSING UP AN AWESOME GUY! WAKE UP!” Good of her to listen though. :p Anyhow, I knew these two liked each other way before they admitted it to each other. I don’t know how it is with long-term friends being lovers but I am sure it’s a little awkward. Maybe that could be one of the reasons why all those sexual tension build up as high as the Eiffel Tower. I mean GAAAWWWD Ella, were you really going to say no to Micha? I sure hell wouldn’t.

Also be ready for a lot of this:

And this:

QUOTABLE QUOTES

“I love you, Ella May and nothing will ever change that. You can push me away -run away – and I will still love you.”

“You've always had a good grasp on what's right and wrong. You just have a hard time admitting that sometimes you choose the wrong.”

“Before I took off, the boundaries of our friendship were starting to blur. I thought time would fix this, but it seems like we’re back to where we started. As much as I would love to melt into him, it just can’t happen. I can’t open up like that and lose control. I need control.”

“Something snaps inside me, like a rubber band. With one swift movement, and the aid of my own willingness, Micha lifts me over the console and I straddle his lap, looping my arms around his neck.”

“We don’t speak as we stare up at the sky. He traces his finger along the folds between my fingers and my eyelids drifts shut. I feel a wall crumble, leaving behind dust, debris and pieces that desperately need to be put back together.”

HIGHLIGHTS

* The alternating Point-of-Views between Ella and Micha made this book. I think it wouldn’t be as effective if we were just reading the story in Ella’s POV. I wouldn’t have enjoyed it as much if it was. Because for a story like this to work, you’ll have to know what both party are thinking while the situations happen just like with this book.

* The story was simple and easy to follow. There were no deep plotline but I appreciated it just the way it was because for me it felt more character driven which worked. I felt more connected to the story because I knew where the story was going so what I really was looking out for was the reaction of the characters to the situations that they were facing.

* The characters were believable. There was no extraordinary stuff going on like the male lead character was the perfect one and tried to make the girl see that she was too. No, there was no crap like that. What we see here, are two emotionally driven characters who were flawed and in need of love that they eventually found with each other. Simple yes, but the process of these two characters getting there was a long and tedious one. Like I said, the story was simple but the characters were not so which I think made it all work.

FINAL WORDS

What can I say? I was totally blown away by this book. It was definitely not what I was expecting it to be. There were a mix of emotion here and there with a wide array of witty lines that made me smile and sometimes frown I sometimes hate Ella’s negativism.

If you are looking for a love story that will make your head hurt because of all the complexities then I don’t suggest you reading this.
This book was simple and genuine. Like I said, there was nothing bewildering about the story. There was nothing that would make you jump out of your seats because it scared or surprised the shit out of you. No there’s nothing like that here. Unless you count the steamy scenes between them there are loads of that in this book What you will have though is a glimpse of how two people who someone lost each other and found their way back and how they did it.

I am honestly happy that I picked up this book and read about Ella and Micha. I have never really understood how friendship and love works because it never happened to me. I have always believed that the best relationship starts with strangers but these two made me realize how important friendship is to make things work out. They weren’t sure where to start but eventually they found their way.

Would I recommend it? HELL YEAH!
Just a warning though, this book has a lot of sexual situations and mature contents like gif here below:

so if you’re not ready to read something like that please don’t pick this book up because it is full of it. Although I would have to emphasize, THIS WAS AN AWESOME READ!
