A new take on a vampire tale. Interesting to see how the story progresses.

Now this was a surprise read. I'm not a huge fan of vampire books, mostly because of the quantity of all the teenage angst vampire TV programs/films/books available at the moment caused by the Twilight phenomena. Had I not been working my way through Matts back catalog of books i might have passed this by and missed it which would have been a shame as it really was a great read. The story remained consistent throughout, there is the great humour from Matt in places, the story kept you guessing ( ...more

This is the story of Adam. One night he stops and gives help to a lady in distress on the roadside. It is a decision he soon begins to wish he had never made as his life slowly crumbles around him. For now he finds himself in a battle for his life and his very soul....

This is the start to what will become a trilogy. Matt has once again diversified and shown us he is not afraid to try new genres. This is completely different to his usual style but also still essentially 'Matt-ish'. It was high oc

One night, while driving home, Adam spots a stranded female motorist. Good Samaritan that he is, Adam offers to give her a ride. No good deed goes unpunished, right? The female, dubbed "Helen of Troy" by Adam, shows her appreciation by biting Adam's neck. Fortunately for Adam, another motorist interrupts the attack. Unfortunately for Adam, his life is about to change....

Slow-moving for the first two-thirds of the book, the pace picked up toward the end and the story finally got interesting. This

Adam is just your usual guy who works hard to make a living, sure his marriage is on the rocks and he spends most of his time trying to avoid his wife!

1 late drive home changes that....

Enter a beautiful stranded woman, a collision and an accident that changes everything...

A brilliant story from Adam's point of view. As the tale unfolds, we get a glimpse into a life that could have been, and the life that happens.

The author has created a great story here that I recommend to anyone.

Adam is a normal run of the mill guy. Works hard, marriage on the rocks. Nothing really exciting. He stops to help a woman broke down at the side of the road. Next thing he knows he's handcuffed to a hospital bed.........and are those vampire bites on his neck?

Another dark story from Matt Shaw. Always worth a read if you got a strong stomach.

MATT SHAW was born, quite by accident (his mother tripped, he shot out) September 30th 1980 in Winchester hospital where he was immediately placed on the baby ward and EBay. Some twelve years later (wandering the corridors of the hospital and playing with road kill when he was on day release), the listing closed and he remained unsold, he was booted out of the hospital to start his life a
