It’s strange to think that once upon a time not that many years ago, I didn’t care very much for short fiction. I always felt like the ride was over just before it got to start whenever I read a short story. Intervening years have shown me the error of my ways and that in my short-sightedness (no pun intended), I was missing out of some of the best literature by avoiding this format.

Enter Nic Wilson and his “Selected Short Stories featuring Cinderella Shoes” (try saying that three times fast!).

Selected Short Stories Featuring Cinderella Shoes
Well written though starkly bleak reminiscences of unusual worlds. Mister Wilson creativity sparks thoughtfulness, but sometimes deadens with mundane tone. A visit to the future of law enforcement when bots rule intrigues then stalls with a purposefully constructed day-to-day mood. The use of the present tense and first-person monologues might grate on a past-tense fanatic.
The politics of the exploited poor runs a river through the stories. Though

3.5 starts.

I found this collection of stories better than I expected. I found them to be reminiscent of stories from the old TV shows, Twilight Zone and Tales from the Darkside. Sometimes there is a moral or philosophical question presented; sometimes a story was just creepy or disturbing. The stories themselves were quite shot but mostly surprisingly meaty. This was a very good appetizer and I will certainly check out mo

Recommends it for: everyone
Shelves: new, contemporary
Wildly creative stories about people in strange and sometimes terrifying situations. The writing often reads like stream of consciousness, which gave me the impression that the stories were happening in real time. I think Nicolas Wilson is a true original. I highly recommend this book.

I abandoned and dumped this book by Page 2 of this short book. The porn is really not for my taste at all. Other readers might enjoy this, though.

Cinderella Shoes was a sampling of this author's talent to think outside of the norm. I have read seven books this month and although they were fun and entertaining, not one of them was nearly as creative in the thought process as Nicolas Wilson's short stories. He takes you to a new understanding of life as it could be, whether you are reading about a dog who inherits the ability to speak and reason by means of an unheard of diet, or a plant that gives birth to a humanoid baby. I highly doubt a ...more

I was giving a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This is a collection of short stories ranging from topics of robots, juvenile delinquents and as many other topics that you could imagine. The vast range of topics is what I found to be the least pleasing about this collection. The stories were well written and from the most part I enjoyed the ones that were on topics I was interested in.

My largest critique is that the table of contents was very simplistic and with a breadt

I was given this book in order to provide a honest review from the good reads group shut up and read.
Firstly I don't want people to think this review is anything to do with the lack of ability in the authors part because it's not! The author has a great way of writing with an exceptional imagination!

My three stars are purely because short stories aren't for me!
When I read I feel myself getting drawn in, identifying with the characters and the plot. With short stories I just can't do that and tha

Kind of different

There were a lot of short stories in here that were different. A good kind of different. My favorite was Genetic memory. Poor dog. I might read more stories from this author in the future.

I really liked these stories and enjoyed reading them. There were a few that were tedious and repetitive but other than those ones I really enjoyed this :)

I really enjoyed these short stories. They had enough detail that I didn't feel there were any loose ends on any of the stories. The stories were really easy to get into and they were all so different I flew through all of them! I definitely recommend this!
