This won't take long to read, but it's worth making time to enjoy the sense of place and gentle prose. A young Lakota man drives up the mountain for a camp over the weekend, but ends up finding a more reliable way to travel. Is it true that a great man deserves a great horse, but the horse must do the choosing?

Andrew Grey often writes gay romances, set in various communities, but this short story is suitable for any reader.

This is a great short story about Takoda, one of the main characters of The Fight for Identity (which I have yet to read). It sets the scene nicely, and references some of the characters from the first two books - which I loved.

Takoda grew up on the reservation, and has a job doing web design for Bryce (from book two), but he also loves his little retreats into nature for the occasional weekend away from people. On one of these trips he finds a trapped horse and frees it, only to have the animal

This is the sweet story of how Horse claimed Takoda. You can read this story before book three of the Good Fight series if you want because it doesn't give anything away from the series. However, you will understand the context of the story a little better if you read it as the fourth story. If you click on the AMAZON link it will give you the option to buy the kindle version for free.

Takoda rescued horse, horse chose him. The tribe and his friends built an inclosure. A great sign of good fortune and community

Short Story. IMHO it will be of more interest if you read it after book 3 in the series - "The Fight for Identity"

A really great series - all with interesting and sexy MC's in each one - Whew! There are 3 novels and a short story - they could probably be stand-alones but are so good, I suggest them all.

This is book #4 (which is the short story and the other 3 are novels). It is the story about Takoda (MC in book #3) and how he meets his horse - no romance and no spoilers so I suggest reading it after book #2, before book #3, because chronologically, that is how it happens but it doesn't really matter.

Nice little short story to be read as a supplement to The Fight for Identity. This can be read as a prequel or a sequel, it doesn't matter but, by all means, read it as it's the story of how Takoda met Horse, or vice versa. ...more
A short story centered on Takoda and his horse 'Horse' from the fight for identity. Its very sweet and gives insight of how their companionship came to be. Also have some characters from the previous books.

In this companion piece to The Fight for Identity, readers learn how Takoda found Horse, his faithful steed. It was a nice and very quick read. ...more

I loved this shorty! Sweet horse choosing to be with the man who saved him. Takoda, a true spiritual man who is in tune with nature. Who can ask for a more compelling pair! Now, to get the rest of the series! Gotta LOVE Andrew's writing!

A very short little tale of how Takoda and Horse first meet and Takoda is accepted by Horse.

Makes most sense if you have read at least The Fight for Identity but reading all The Good Fight books, even better!

Way too short and since it was after takoda's and wills story, I would have rather it be a story he was telling will on how horse came to chose him.
