(This review applies to the whole manga series, rather than the first volume.)

Don't be fooled by the cute, light-adventure facade the first volume of this series projects. There is plot coming, and it will hit like a truck.

Many readers find it hard to connect with Tsubasa: RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE at first look, because the actual story starts out a bit slower than the dramatic teaser at the opening of the first chapter. It feels a bit like a bait-and-switch; for the first half-dozen volumes or so, T

OK, I plowed through all 28 volumes of this initially in an effort to make sense of xxxHolic. Which, eventually, it sort of did. What I am to use to make sense of Tsubasa, I don't know. Well, Wikipedia, I suppose, but even it only becomes comprehensible after one has read the thing maybe twice.

I had actually, as usual, started with the anime, but it does not go all the way to the end of the tale, and it skipped some parts I'd been especially curious about. The anime is quite well done and recomm

First volume review
So I started to Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles. The main reason was that it is well known, classic manga and loved by almost everyone. So I decided to turn to it.

I liked the first chapter but to be honest, it was a bit confusing. This dimension-hopping thing is new to me, also the characters were introduced quickly. But at the end of the volume I got interested in the story.

Syaoran and Sakura friendship was cute at the beginning. I already liked Syaoran, he seems calm and ma

You want to have your brain fried? then I suggest you read Tsubasa.

CLAMP is super clever in taking the two main protagonist from their other work: Cardcaptor Sakura, a favourite of mine. So, duh, I was pretty much sucked in like *that*. But, I didn't read Tsubasa straight after it was released in Thailand, I was too busy obsessing over something else at that time but one of my friends was hooked on it (but never got to the end because it became too much of a mindfuck for her)

But hey, a few yea

[Series Length: 19 volumes / Read: volumes 1-6]

World-renowned mangaka circle CLAMP has basically phoned it in with "Tsubasa". Basically just a lame excuse to re-visit old characters from previous CLAMP titles in new settings, the story revolves around an alternate version of Syaoran (originally of "Card Captor Sakura" fame) going dimension-hopping with a magician and warrior from one random world to the next, all to recover the memories of Sakura (also an alternate version, of course). Along the

This is a fantasy quest journey and most of all a love story. Childhood friends, Princess Sakura and Syaoran, the son of a famous archeologist, meet up again after seven years apart. The royal family offered Syaoran a place in their home after his father died, but he felt that, as a commoner, he couldn’t. Now Syaoran has established a name for himself in the archeological field and returns to the land of Sakura’s kingdom. When Sakura visits the archeological dig she touches the Tsubasa (the wing ...more

This review is for volumes 1-7.

YA fantasy manga. This is a companion/crossover series with xxxHolic. Syaoran and Sakura have been the closest of friends since they were children. Now Sakura has been attacked, and her memories scattered as feathers across the multi-verse. Without her memories, she'll die. Syaoran goes to Yuuko, the Dimension Witch, for a way to save her, and is given a creature who will act as a guide through the dimensions: but Yuuko grants wishes only for a price that matches t

Recommends it for: manga lovers, fans of CLAMPs works

Sometimes authors/creators will take the characters they use in one story and then place them in a totally diff. one with a alternate universe storyline going on. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Tsubasa is one that works. Very well.

With a pretty original plot driving the series and familiar characters being developed in an alternate but convincing way, the CLAMP writers have made a manga I immediately loved.

Can't really explain why but it hit all the right parts for me: interesting

I've been meaning to read this for a while but never got the time to. Took my history test few hours ago and I deserve this break. Lol.

Binge reading is a thing.

Reading this, nostalgia hits like a truck. All the characters are familiar where all it take is a little recall. I don't think I mind alternate dimensions though most reviewers are disgruntled over the fact that the characters are not the same as before. I think they are at the very core the same but the situations make them different. W

Tsubasa: RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE by CLAMP is a companion series to xxxHolic. As I'm reading xxxHolic I feel obligated to try Tsubasa: RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE.

Volume 1 sets up the story. Syaoran and Sakura (who are alternates from the ones in Card Captor Sakura) have grown up together. Syaoran is an archeologist's son and Sakura is a princess, the younger sister of the king. A freak accident at the archeological dig results in Sakura losing her memories and having them scattered across the dimensions. Th

I'd been putting off picking this series up for a while, what with it being a kind of cross-over with a number of CLAMP's other series, and in general I'm opposed to cross-overs because to some level I find there to be a certain laziness about them. But, I picked this up, and while reading was happy to discover that these aren't simple carbon copies of the character's alternative selves. Instead, CLAMP took the basic idea of each character from the original source and made them into unique chara ...more

I would rate and review this book for all of the volumes--all 28 of them.

At first, what intrigued me was the fact that Sakura and Syaoran from CCS were back in somehow different adventure. But when I was read it, I was totally wrong.

This story told about the whole new adventure that have no--or just slight--connection from CCS. In this story CLAMP managed to gathered all of the character they've been made and put them into different role--parallel universe, they say, so the soul is the same yet

One of my favorite manga series to date. It spans 28 volumes, and is one of the most mindbending, brain torturing series ever. Just when you think you know what's happening, CLAMP reveals another piece of the puzzle. The series finished serializing a year ago, and this week I reread the whole thing. Even now, I'm still trying to put the pieces together. Definitely recommended!

TRC takes the characters from CardCaptor Sakura and pulls them through multiple worlds, searching for the scattered fragm

The story line in this manga follows two characters from Clamp on a wonderful journey. I am a big fan of the anime, and now a fan of the manga. Some of the events are a little bit different on the manga, but I feel they add to the story. The artwork is nice, but what really does it for me is the story itself and the wonderful characters. This is, above all, a love story about sacrifice and putting everything on the line for the one you love. At times funny, at times sad, this is one of the best ...more

I'm rereading this series, because I never finished it and when I went to the bookstore the other day, I saw it was complete. I got about halfway through and then got so busy with school that I lost track. Which is a shame because this series is amazing and Syaoran is my favorite character ever.

If you've ever read any of CLAMP's other manga (which you should), you have to read this one, too. It's a great story, plus it's intertwined with so many other series. I'm excited to reread and find out

This series is like skipping through the "Life and Times of CLAMP." Which is a good thing.

And the translators notes? Excellent. Read them. It will help. This series and its crossover, xxxHolic, use many Japanese cultural details foreigners might not know about, and the notes help. The notes also help explain things with the crossover readers might not realize if they don't follow both series at the same time.

It's fun. The series gets confusing at times, but overall it's a very good series.

I can't even say how much I love these books. For some reason I always thought that the first book was boring when I was younger; after reading it again I can't believe that I ever thought that. It's a beautiful start to a beautiful series.

This was a great volume. I originally came from the anime which had left me confused. Very confused. So as I read this I was more amazed and entranced by it since it had more details and was thoroughly more entertaining. I do love CLAMP's style too 'll be binging all the volumes now.
