There is no shortage of books and successful businesspeople who have emphasized concepts such as decentralization, outsourcing, the rise of the knowledge worker, the role of employees as assets, and a focus on the customer. But it was Peter Drucker who years, sometimes decades, first blew the whistle on these indisputably important keys to success. And still today, Drucker ...more

Taking the “what” of Peter Drucker—the famed creator of the field of modern management theory—and showcasing the “how” amid his 30+ books published over his lifetime. I honestly didn’t expect the level of insight in a derivative book on an author I already enjoy reading. Great achievement and immediately useful in whatever position you’re in within an organization.

I almost never give a book 5 Stars, in fact this is the first of 2014 that I can remember. Prior to listening to this book on Audible, I had heard some less than flattering things. So I really wasn't sure what I was going to get.

What do you get? With the Practical Drucker, you get "Drucker's 40 Greatest Hits". You get Reader's Digest versions of Drucker's most famous pieces of work. You get clear examples of what Drucker saw in his day. You get current examples (up to 2012) of how Drucker's prin

I wanted to love this book and since I've enjoyed a lot of Peter Drucker's writings I thought this would be a great compilation. Unfortunately, it didn't satisfy my need for an overview of Mr. Ducker's wisdom. Maybe if I was in higher management, this book would be better for me and I would've found some of the topics more interesting. I struggled to read each chapter and to find nuggets I could use on a daily basis. If you're trying to read more Drucker, I'd start with The Essential Drucker.

Read my full review:

My opinion: Love me, Love me, Love me some Peter Drucker! So here was my take from this great, all in one book:

1) Mr. Cohen did a PHENOMENAL job bringing the thoughts of Peter Drucker together in one book in a concise organized method.

2) The integration of other thought leaders was offered and how they applied to Drucker's concepts. The author gave best practice application which, in my humble opinion, gives for greater comprehension of how to apply the

As a student of Drucker, the author has unique insights into one of the great management thinkers of our time. The lessons learned from Drucker apply to entrepreneurial and managerial efforts of all kinds. I trust that my academic and business colleagues will continue to teach these pragmatic lessons for decades to come. David Marshall Hunt ...more

A good basic introduction to the theories of Peter Drucker but has the distinct impression of being quite heavily padded. There's quite a bit of repetition in examples and rehashing of what's already been said. I suppose that could be aimed towards the reader going through the book out of order but it's distracting otherwise. Drucker clearly comes across as a Yoda for the Jedi art of Management and I will be looking perhaps at his original work next. ...more

If you have read Drucker, this book is a great reminder. If you have not read Drucker, this book is a great introduction. The book is a collection of 40 of Drucker’s “how to” lessons. For instance, the chapter “Three Principles for Developing Yourself” explains how to (1) Expect failure but keep at it; (2) Volunteer, make mistakes and learn; (3) Never stop learning.

Contents are partially the same as the authors other book about Drucker. None the less, it gives great insights from a direct Drucker apostle
