The ideas presented in this 'handbook' are appealing: What educator doesn't want his or her students to develop an ability to seek deeper levels of knowledge? The book provides minimal use as a handbook, however, as it presents more of an overview than a step-by-step approach. The writing was uninspiring and laboured and I struggled to read more than 3 pages at a time before becoming disinterested. The book relied heavily on works by J. A must read for school leaders. Halbert and Kaser provide a good balance of the why and how of a team-inquiry approach to professional learning in a school. They also share local examples of successes and challenges to help school staff members move deeper in their professional learning.
