I purchased this book when we recently toured Hever Castle and found it very helpful. I had always wanted to see the childhood home of Anne Boleyn, which was a dream fulfilled, yet there is so much more than just that to the castle. First off the gardens are spectacular. We were there in the Spring, so the flowers were incredible, but there are photos in this book during other seasons when it is still beautiful. There's a big lake, canals, ponds, fountains, bridges, a huge pergola, a large maze, topiaries, and various gardens. There was even a white swan, sitting on nine eggs. The castle is small by some standards, but if you're a Tudor fan, you'll love it. The book not only acts as a good guide, but it's a great keepsake to remind one of much of what they saw: the rooms and many of the treasures within. There's also a section in the book with the Astor rooms. Hever owes a huge debt of gratitude to William Waldorf Astor, who purchased the crumbling castle and restored it to the beautiful building and grounds we toured.

The guidebook for Hever Castle is definitely good value for money. You aren't allowed to take any photos inside the castle but the book has beautiful reproductions of all the rooms and many of the historic objects in them. There isn't that much in the way of signage at the castle (they prefer the more modern audio guides) so the book is perfect to get further information about each room as you go through, and unlike several guidebooks, actually has the rooms in order that you view them which makes it very helpful. Definitely one I'd recommend for all visitors to the castle.
