Secrets! #6

Reese's Wild Wager

Rate this book
A wild poker wager won Reese Sinclair a...woman! Two weeks slinging hash at his rough-hewn tavern was just the thing to tip persnickety Sydney Taylor's tiara. No woman could shake his ivory tower of bachelorhood, even one as maddening...and delectable...as society princess Sydney.

But desire roared between them, and the innocent beauty granted Reese carte blanche with her body. Their earth-shattering night together stripped away every remnant of his reason -- and left a ferocious longing. What would the irresistible bachelor do when the bet expired? Round up those cards...or lay down a marriage proposal?

Truly enjoyable read.
Typical US small town setting where everybody knows ..... everybody. The two protagonists are like water and oil: prim, haughty, wealthy h vs. cocky, playboy and carefree hero. The story starts with a quarrel that leads to a wager that leads to a forced proximity that leads to .....❤️
Good side characters (the story is part of a series, unfortunately this is the first book I read and some background stories are a mystery to me) funny banter, very little angst and good chemistry.
Advice for changing a sad day into a better one!

3.5 stars! overall, cute read! This gave me intense “Hart of Dixie” vibes and I imagined Reese like Wade from the show—runs a tavern, owns a truck, local chicks love him, and lives nearby to his tavern. As for the h, I imagined Sydney like Lemon from the show—blonde, rich, uptight, owns her own restaurant.

unfortunately, rich corporate men that are somewhat of a jerk are more my type in romance land, so the lack of suspense and angst prevented me from loving it.

This book started out a little slow, I'd give the first half 3 stars and the second half 4 stars. It wasn't really calling my name when I wasn't reading it even though the premise sounded good if a little cookies cutter (but that's kind of expected from Silhouette). There were a couple of twists I didn't see and felt that those really added to the book in a good way. This book is in the middle of a series so there are other side characters that obviously have had their own stories previously. I might try reading another in the series if I can get my hands on it.
