Longworth's thesis is that Meryl Streep began her career as sort of a Trojan horse for feminism by coming into projects that didn't really have a place for a woman's point of view and building it into her part, and has now come into a stretch where, improbably, as a woman in her sixties, she is playing the parts that usually come to actresses in their twenties, namely the sexy romantic lead. This was an interesting overview of Meryl Streep's career, but it reviewed ten of her films through a strictly feminist lens, which detracted from my enjoyment of the book. Also, it only went up to the Iron Lady, so it's missing a few more recent films. Still, worth a read for her many fans.

Misleading title. Book contained no pictures or descriptions of Meryl Streep's (who's by the way very overrated) anatomy. Wrong.
