Merri Dee, Life Lessons on Faith, Forgiveness & Grace

Rate this book
Merri Dee, legendary TV and radio personality, shares insightful lessons she has learned throughout her life in this powerful memoir. With unflinching honesty, she takes you from her humble upbringing on Chicago's South Side, to her rise to the top as one of the most trusted names in media, philanthropy and advocacy. In vivid and heartbreaking detail, Merri Dee reveals the pain of losing her mother at a very young age and the horror of living with a cruel stepmother who constantly tortured her. Even as an adult, she was the victim of domestic violence perpetrated by her boyfriend-a famous R&B singer-who physically and verbally abused her during their rocky relationship. She celebrates her miraculous recovery after she was kidnapped, shot in the head and left to die. That tragic moment inspired her to live her life with even more purpose. Through all of the pain and calamity of her tumultuous past, Merri Dee found inner-strength through her unwavering faith and peace, love, and joy that comes from God's amazing grace. After reading this inspiring story, you will discover the power of joy over pain and triumph over tragedy, as you walk with Merri to a rewarding, fulfilling and successful life. This inspirational book features a foreword by internationally acclaimed songstylist Nancy Wilson, insightful comments from jazz great Ramsey Lewis, radio legend Herb Kent and former Chicago Mayor Richard Daley along with historic photos of Merri's friends and associates-some of the most influential personalities of our time.

A friend passed this book onto me. It woiod not have been something I would of picked up for myself
However I dis enjoy this book
This book is the True definition of when life gives you lemons, make Lemonade. Sometimes we go through trials and tribulations and we do not turn them into triumph or testimony. We let those trials define us and hold us down, instead of rising above them and moving onward. This book is about love, life, trials, tribulations, testimony, faith, and overall trust in God and that regardless of what you are experiencing in life, it will work out if you allow it too
I enjoyed this book because it read as a graceful novel and not as a self help reference book. Although you were able to obtain that knowledge as well within the read.
