1.5 I can't believe I wasted 5.00 dollars on this book Stars

Wow all I can say is that if I had not paid 5.00 bucks for this book it would have been my first DNF! Ever! The blurb looked so good, and the plot line was a great idea. To bad I hated the heroine so much that she ruined the whole book for me, and made me want to slap the shit out of her! From the start of the book til the 91% mark she does nothing but go on about what a worthless whore she is because she slept with the man she was engaged to since childhood, and ended up pregnant and shamed when he dumped her. Oh and because she enjoyed sex with the hero of the book. So because of those two reasons she went on about how undeserving she is of Eric's love and how he can do better than a strumpet. Now I don't mean that she says it a lot in the book. NO she says it like every 5 or 6 lines sometimes more for the whole damn book!!!!!!!!!!!!! At the 60% mark I started yelling at my kindle "I get it you are a damn whore now shut up GOD" and "You are right Eric can do better than you because you are a whiny bitch who spits in his face throwing all his kindness back in his face every chance you get stop feeling sorry for your damn self and grow the hell up" , or "I hate you, I so fuckin Hate you" every time she said something about her shamefulness. Which means I was yelling so much at my kindle at 4 am that I woke my children up. Oops! All I can say is I am done with this author and this series. I won't waste my money again. I'm Out!!!

This is the story of Eric and Amelia. This is the second book in the series. I liked the 1st book with Charlie and Michael, and really liked the 3rd book with Lily and Christian but these two people were so annoying. Amelia degraded herself every other page and Eric being so gullible and ignorant on every other page was a little too much to bear.
I still would read more books by this author. Merry Farmer writes with a light, fun, and romantic feel that I really do like.

Amelia Elphick was a fallen woman. A marquess's daughter, she was left in an unexpected situation after her father depleting his own fortunes through drunk and gambling. Her mother had already turned her sisters into whores to provide for their lavish lifestyle, yet Amelia chose to become a governess. Her naive heart believed that her fiancé, Nicholas Hayworth, since childhood would marry her, except he was a cad who abandoned her pregnant. In a last ditch effort to prevent her ruination, Amelia disrupted a party hosted by her employer which her fiancé was in attendance, but it didn't turn out as she hoped, except that her savior had come in the form of a rugged, American stranger...Eric Quinlan.
Erin was simply an incredibly nice man. When he knows that Amelia would be cast off after the party debacle, he offered to take her with him to Montana, a land where no one knows her and she can start over. On the passage across the seas, they pretended to by wife and husband, and he began to admire and respect Amelia's spirit and intelligence, as well as come to want her. But Eric is plagued with a huge problem: his ranch has been incurring losses over the past few years, and his cousin Curtis is urging him to sell it before he goes bankrupt. Between dealing with his ranch problems, and trying to ascertain his own feelings for Amelia, might he give her the happily-ever-after she deserves? Or might he believe that Amelia was as as depraved as her own mother stated?
In a romance novel, the driving point is the complexity of characterization and the ways in which characters respond and react with regards to conflicts. This is much the case here. Amelia was plagued with internal conflicts; her mother was literally a famous whore, and she lived her life trying to convince herself that she wasn't her mother, that her passionate nature was not a vice or a sign of depravity. Her downfall was the starting point of this book, and she had to somehow convince herself that she deserves Eric's love and affections, and valiantly fights for it, before she loses him forever. Amelia's inner conflicts, such as they are, are immense enough to interfere with Eric's external conflicts. It is clear to the readers that Eric's ranch has been the victim of sabotage, and who the culprit likely is, but it takes Eric a long time to figure out. As a result of that, his heart is rooted in mistrust and Amelia's on-off behavior with him confounds him. She wants him at night, yet refuses to become his wife in truth. And precisely because the two are such independent and resolute characters, they had to overcome barriers of communication before they could come together to confront a common enemy. And when that happens, their story lights up.
On the surface, this story is one of randomness (A total nice stranger offering a fallen woman a chance to start over without any strings attached?). Below the surface, it is a tale of sacrifice and salvation, of second-chances and overcoming not only the prejudices of society, but of oneself. This was an especially difficult journey for Amelia to undertake, but she emerged all the better for it. For Eric, his end reward was a good sense to hold on to what he holds dear, whether that's his beloved ranch, or Amelia, and fight for it with tooth and nail. Merry Farmer's writing has, once again, taken me on a journey from England (as brief as that stay was) to the still developing town of Cold Springs, Montana, an absolutely captivating journey that was both literal and figurative, and through the hearts of two fantastic characters. As with previous books of hers that I've read, this one charmed me immensely and I look forward to reading more from her.

This was my first book by Merry Farmer and I was pretty excited to start on it. The cover is typical wild west and blurb pretty interesting.
The story is set in the regency era where England was divided into the stuffy upper class and the looked-down-upon lower class. Amelia is stuck in such a pretentious world. Forced by circumstances to fall in the lower class, she has lost the support of everyone and the supposed love and promises of the man who had once promised her his love. Humiliated, struck out by everyone and left in a hopeless situation, she is a fallen woman, so when he gets Eric's offer to travel with him to America, it is like a godsend.
The story is well conceived but execution did need some brushing. I was interested in the story but got irritated with Amelia at times. She is guilt ridden and her constant self blame game while understandable at first soon starts getting on your nerves. It looks like she is just blind to all the good that is happening to her. Eric loves her and she loves him but still keeps putting him down. Her inner conflicts are admirably brought to paper by the author but I loved and rooted for Eric throughout the book. He is such a gentleman- strong, dependable, passionate and so handsome. :)
I loved reading the story and loved the contrast between America and England which is so beautifully described. I could visualize the rich English parties with over dressed people who stuck up their noses at other people and also visualize the free, open, vast fields of America where people were simple, devoid of high society pretension and more focused on the simple pleasures of life.
While I loved the story with its multiple story layers, complex characters, beautiful descriptions of America and England of the 1800s and a very romantic love story, I was not very satisfied with the wrap up. The scheming cousin of Eric, Curtis is left off too easily in my opinion. Nothing is done with Jacinta and Amelia's acceptance to Eric's love is sudden and looked a bit hurried.
The plot is very engaging and I was kept interested till the very end. There is mystery, suspense, romance, chivalry, the good old historical romance thrill and the good feel of traveling back in time to witness the story. The story goes deep with its heart touching themes of love, sacrifices, helping others and looking for the best in people. I enjoyed reading the book and look forward to reading more from Merry in the future.
My only dissatisfaction with the story were Amelia's excessive guilt, her late and rather abrupt realization of Eric's love, nothing done to help Eric overcome his weakness regarding reading and too easy justice to Jacinta and Curtis. Just because of this I give Fool For Love 3.5 out of 5. I had more expectations from the book and while I enjoyed reading the book, the dissatisfaction with some points also weighed with me. Recommended to all lovers of western historical romance.

This one wasn't as good for me as Our Little Secrets. Partly I think the plot just didn't grab me as much. And I was wanting to smack sense into the heroine, because it took almost the whole book for her to realize that she wasn't a shameless hussy. And the love scenes were a little purple in their prose. But a lot of this could just be me, so your mileage may vary.

Eric Quinlan of Cold Springs, Montana, is in England on a business trip, staying with the Hamilton's and at a party, when their governess, Amelia Elphick, confronts one of the guests about being the father to her unborn child. They'd been betrothed since they were children, but she'd lost her social status with the death of her father and the fact that her mother and sisters had taken to prostitution to make ends meet. Of course, that is a stain on her reputation, a reputation she is trying desperately to preserve. Now her betrothed doesn't want her and certainly isn't going to accept any responsibility for his own child. He was far too good for that. Now Amelia is ruined, has lost her job, is pregnant, alone, and scared.
Eric was mortified by what he'd witnessed and offered to take Amelia back to Montana with him under the guise of her being a widow. She could start a new life among people who would never find out the truth about her, get a job as a teacher at the new school, and be happy. It was the perfect plan until they had to hold out as husband and wife. It was a ruse until love entered the equation.
This was a great story all around. Amelia spends a lot of time thinking she's not good enough for Eric. Eric is adamant about marrying her for real. He's in love with her and wants both her and the baby. But he's losing his ranch, which is a story unto itself, and thinks he's dumb because his cousin, Curtis, has been telling him for years that he wasn't a businessman. Eric was far from being dumb. He had problems reading, but his biggest problem was blind loyalty to Curtis just because they're family. Eric was too trusting and Curtis dealing him a dirty hand? Well, that wasn't going to happen. They're cousins; family. That's what mattered most.
Throw in that spiteful, ugly woman, Jacinta, who was a superb antagonist, and you've got a whirlwind of a story. There's angst, care, deceit, steam, and love all rolled into this book.
As with the first novel in the series, I'm giving this four stars because there is so little character description. I love to see what the characters look like; their hair color, eye color, expressions on their faces--I'm a fool for good descriptions and want periodic reminders.
Other than that, this is a stellar read.

A good selection of characters
What a lovely character Eric is. A rancher in London trying to make a deal to sell cattle meets Amelia. Down on her luck, Amelia's fortunes have plummeted after her father shot himself when he lost his estates and fortune. She has work as a governess, but after causing a furore at a ball, is dismissed.
What can a kind, gentle rancher do to help?
There are many hiccups along the way and not just in England, but can they all be resolved?
It is obvious to the modern reader that someone in that day and age would think themselves less than normal when having difficulties with reading, while we now know it as dyslexia. The plot was good, although I did get slightly irritated at Amelia's concept of her own character. Again I am looking through the eyes of a modern reader, but putting it into context, it is probably more understandable. The secondary characters all add beautifully to the story and all the better for having met them in book 1 of the series.

Fool for love indeed!
I really enjoyed reading this book about Eric and Amelia. They met in one country and moved to another. In America, Montana to be exact, is where true feelings emerge between the two. The love connection Eric felt for Amelia was so deep and enthralling too me that I wished I was her. It took her a long time to find her self worth but with his insistence of how wonderful and beautiful. She was, she came to grips with a love of herself and Eric. She discovered true love!

Eric (rancher) and Amelia
A well written story with character building that was fantastic. Eric was a knight in shining armor for her when she needed it (though she needed to realize it). She also helped him see threw his flaws of being to trusting with his cousin. This story has a very happy and satisfying HEA

A good book. I won it on Goodreads. It took a while for the book to reveal what Curtis was doing and I did get a bit frustrated with things, but overall I liked the characters, especially Eric, the Rancher. I liked the time period in the west.

Cute little western romance that was a quick read. Nice break from my urban fantasy that I typically read. Can't wait to read the book about Christian. That should be interesting.

Amelia Elphick is a fallen woman. After her dad lost their fortune, killed himself and her mother and sisters started doing other things to keep up the good living, Amelia was fortunate to become a governess. She still believed herself to be married to Nick, unfortunately that was no longer the case, but he still took advantage of the situation. Now she is pregnant and without a place to live.
Lucky for her a Southern gentleman comes to her rescue. Eric saw how British society treated her and couldn't stand for it. He offers her the chance to come to Montana, not necessarily with him, to start fresh. Seeing this as a opportunity to leave her tarnished reputation behind, Amelia accepts.
Now before you know it things get a little steamy between them and Eric truly belies Amelia is the key to his happiness if she would only accept. Amelia believes she is no good to Eric, he's too kind and deserves better than her.
Besides the whole romantic drama, Eric has other worries on his mind. His farm is slowly going bankrupt and he doesn't have a clue why. It might have something to do with his cousin Curtis. Since Eric helped Amelia, she feels the need to repay him for his goodness and she doesn't trust Curtis. Before she leaves town, Amelia wants to know what Eric's cousin exactly is up to.
I really liked Eric. That man is so sweet and just too good, always thinking the best of people, which sometimes can be a bit naive. Still when it comes to between the sheets, the man knows what he is doing. There were a couple of times he took me by surprise though mostly when it's about Curtis. Eric gets people pretty good, but he doesn't see what his cousin has been doing or trying to do right know. Figuring he is family and family sticks together. Mostly because when it comes to it, Eric does know what Curtis is doing. It is very confusing.
Amelia was alright. I liked her for the most part until she repeatedly goes of on how she's not good enough for Eric. That's get kind of irritating after a while. Virtue is very important in British society and she is still stuck in that set of mind. Meanwhile Eric makes it often very obvious he doesn't care and just wants her, but she keeps pushing him away.
A bit of a cat and mouse game going on here, with a bit of intrigue on the side. As far as the time setting goes, I think it was spot on. I really got the feel of the old wild west, without it being all about gunslingers and. Fool for Love is a good historical romance and I enjoyed it quite a bit. All the characters were portrayed very nicely, I liked who I was supposed to like and disliked the ones you were supposed to dislike. Merry Farmer has a great writing style, so you fly through this book in no time.

Lucky for her a Southern gentleman comes to her rescue. Eric saw how British society treated her and couldn't stand for it. He offers her the chance to come to Montana, not necessarily with him, to start fresh. Seeing this as a opportunity to leave her tarnished reputation behind, Amelia accepts.
Now before you know it things get a little steamy between them and Eric truly belies Amelia is the key to his happiness if she would only accept. Amelia believes she is no good to Eric, he's too kind and deserves better than her.
Besides the whole romantic drama, Eric has other worries on his mind. His farm is slowly going bankrupt and he doesn't have a clue why. It might have something to do with his cousin Curtis. Since Eric helped Amelia, she feels the need to repay him for his goodness and she doesn't trust Curtis. Before she leaves town, Amelia wants to know what Eric's cousin exactly is up to.
I really liked Eric. That man is so sweet and just too good, always thinking the best of people, which sometimes can be a bit naive. Still when it comes to between the sheets, the man knows what he is doing. There were a couple of times he took me by surprise though mostly when it's about Curtis. Eric gets people pretty good, but he doesn't see what his cousin has been doing or trying to do right know. Figuring he is family and family sticks together. Mostly because when it comes to it, Eric does know what Curtis is doing. It is very confusing.
Amelia was alright. I liked her for the most part until she repeatedly goes of on how she's not good enough for Eric. That's get kind of irritating after a while. Virtue is very important in British society and she is still stuck in that set of mind. Meanwhile Eric makes it often very obvious he doesn't care and just wants her, but she keeps pushing him away.

I need to start by telling you that this is the second book in a series. I did not read the first book so I am missing some background. It did not take away from the plot or characters. I did not like Amelia's mother. Besides the fact that she was a well known harlot. She was mean to her daughters. She made two of them follow her foot steps and have the same profession as her. She was ready to make Amelia a harlot as well. Amelia was not perfect either. She got pregnant, and was not married. She knew that this would make her destitute, and that her life would be over. She did the only thing she could. The father of her unborn baby is finally somewhere that she can confront him. That only makes it more difficult when he dumps her in front of a bunch of people at a party. I would have been extremely embarrassed. In a time when women had very little rights, and really no way to live on their own, Amelia is still strong. She was ready to get a job and do what she had to do. However at her lowest moment she was sent a gift. Her gift was Eric. Eric is not perfect either. He is kind and willing to take Amelia away from her shame to America. I liked that Amelia was running to America to start a family like so many people in the past. What she did not expect was the want to be Eric's wife, and not just for the other shipmates. She is not ready to risk her heart again though and it will cost her. Eric does not get her at all and he is so confused. He finally figures out who is responsible for the downfall of his farm. However will these two hearts make room for each other? I am giving this book a 5/5. I was given a copy to review from Orange Berry Book Tours. However all opinions are my own.

If you ask me that how much I liked this book then I have only one answer for you. I read this book twice back to back. Yep, that's how much I loved this book. Author's writing is completely flawless and she does not lose her hold at the book even for a second. I enjoyed reading each and every page of the book. All the characters of the book have been written well. The best part of the book is the relationship of Eric and Amelia. It is very beautiful and you would wish for a relationship like that for your life. Even the love making scenes between the two are so alluring that you would be feeling goosebumps while reading them. It is a skill to write these scenes beautifully because even a slight mistake and it could turn into a vulgar scene.
I would highly recommend this book. You must read this book if you love romance and especially if you love Cowboys.

Amelia Elphick, a fallen woman meets Eric Quinlan in London, who offers her a new life in Montana. His life revolves around his cattle ranch and Curtis, his cousin and only family remaining. Eric has a disability and that is a key part of the story. There is a mystery about why the ranch is going broke. There is some bad language and references to the Irish workers that brought my rating down. This is the first book that I have read by Merry Farmer. She is a talented author. I received this book free through Goodreads giveaways.

I received a print ARC but had to buy the ebook because of vision problems. I am having problems staying with this book. The story line is great but the dialogue is choppy. I am in chapter 9 and Amelia is trying to leave Eric for HIS own good and he is truly besotted with her. Out of no where another set of characters were introduced in chapter 8 with no blending.

Amusing and informative
This story was amusing in that ERIC took life as it came and never saw any bad in anyone. That is except the British and how they treated their women. His dyslexia that Amelia discovered was was right on target and most do compensate by letting others read for them. And consequently there are always scoundrels who will cheat others.

Second book in a series. It was a good story. Kinda dragged in the middle. POV of both hero & heroine. Has an epilogue. I give it 3.5stars.

Fool for Love by Merry Farmer was a great book. This is book 2 in the Montana Romance series and can be read without reading book 1 first, however, many of the characters are in book 2 and I found this to be a great continuation. Amelia and Eric meet in Europe under unusual circumstances and travel to Montana together. I could relate to their insecurities but also to how they complimented each other’s personalities and offset their weaknesses. I had a hard time putting this book down. It is a mixture of romance and suspense that kept the pages turning. I am looking forward to reading more books in this series.
