When God Speaks

Rate this book
Hearing the voice of God is not as difficult as some might think. It may even happen without our realization. As God has spoken throughout the ages, He continues to speak today in many different ways, including through an impression in a person's spirit of through a passage of Scripture or via a prophetic dream. Since we were created to commune with God, He longs for us to draw near to Him so that we can know His heart and understand His will for our lives.

Not sure if I was in tune with this author's summary. However, I do believe as Christians we carry an accountability and responsibility that the rest of creation does not have. So encouraging Christians to find ways to stay grounded in the truth, wise enough to know we are not perfect, and providing ideas to help can't be all bad.

I was expecting something a little different. I flipped through the book when I first got it and put it down for a couple weeks, felt a little disappointed, thought the book would be more informational as to how to know if/when God is speaking to us. Title "When God Speaks." One evening, I sat down with the book and skimmed it more to see if I wanted to read the whole book. I did eventually read it in its entirety. It is not a large book, a little over 100 pages, should have been able to read it in in 1 sitting, 2 max for me, but there were many times it was hard to stay with it for me past a page or 2, and would put it back down. Ended up taking me over a month to read it all. There was information that was helpful, just not what I thought it was going to be. I enjoyed reading the confirmational scriptures where God spoke to the prophets and others in the Bible as examples, but was hoping for understanding how to know when He is speaking today. The list in the back of dreams was very short, not helpful to me at all. I appreciate the list of recommended reading at the back of the book on the subject.

Understanding the still soft voice

This book has enlightened me in varying ways thus giving me a better understanding of God's word. I appreciated the supporting verses and I will recommend this book to anyone who desires to hear from God.
