Oh. My. God. Or should I say 'Oh, crank!' If you've read Ms May's previous books you'll have a fair knowledge of the Elemental side of her stories. Her book The Battle for Arcanon Major filled in some of the backstory of Halika Dacomé but I've been waiting forever to read more.
It wasn't The Circle of Fire as I wanted but I knew this was Ms May's latest and I was lucky enough to get a review copy.

While the emphasis of this story is historical, it isn't the story itself.

I absolutely loved reading this book! I have been fortunate enough to have read the rest of the series, and this fits inside of the Elemental world perfectly while still feeling like a fresh and exciting new story all on its own.

Tristan has almost always lived at war. His father being the King of Wessex in the 800s might have something to do with it. The King is a good, God-fearing man, just like the rest of his people. His twin sons Tristan and Karsten, however, are not wholly of this world. T
