In Peter Mutanda waNdebele’s book “Africa Has a Future,” we must come to terms with the destruction wrought by both politically legitimate, and repressively illegal land grabs. Dispossession, poverty, famine, ecological degradation and human rights violations take shape as colonial and post-colonial devices, aimed at self-enrichment, disenfranchise the poor within the Global South zone.

Not that power-grabbing and political wrangling have burst forth as some new multi-headed monster in our midst.

Shelves: non-fiction
This is a good book as a general overview of the challenges facing Africa and possible solutions. It is, however, written for "the ordinary African" (as the author puts it), or really the ordinary citizen of the world, more than for academics. This reads more like a long essay than an academic work and draws almost exclusively on secondary literature, although the author's insight as an African certainly provide added value.
