Perfect blend of teenage crushes and lurking danger.

Rory has everything a teenage girl could wish for: a warm, loving family, a hot guy who adores her, and popularity at school. But when she gets trapped in a storm drain with an adorable chocolate lab pup, her life takes a sharp detour. The puppy belongs to Gage, a boy with a shady past who Rory had a major crush on.

Meanwhile, teenage girls are disappearing. When her friend Lindsay disappears, Rory's parents and older brothers clamp down on her

Rory is one of those girls who has trouble following her and mishaps befalling her wherever she goes. Whether it was her own bad luck or something much more sinister, she often found herself in bad situations. When we first meet her, she’s stuck in a storm drain after trying to save a puppy that somehow managed to find himself down there during a downpour. Thankfully her childhood best friend Gage, all grown up and gorgeous, was there to be her knight in shining armor.

When Rory was a little girl she had a best friend named Gage. They got into all sorts of trouble when they were kids. One night Rory was preparing the best hiding spot ever when she saw a guy loading what looked to be a body into a vehicle. Of course, the excitement caused her to have an asthma attack and the guy soon found her hiding spot. However, it was because of her friend Gage that she was able to escape the clutches of the killer and run to safety. But a couple week later Gage moved away, ...more

She wishes she has more freedom, as her parents are very strict on her, and look the other way when it comes to her college age brothers. She is expected to live the life they planned out for her, and when Rory defies them, her parents learn that they can't stop her from being herself.

Crushing was full of suspense, romance and teenage angst. I loved it!

Rory grew up in an overprotective household with not only great but overprotecting parents, but also older twin brothers who had their own ways of being overprotective. She has a nice life, complete with a best friend (Dominic) who everyone would love to see her end up with - including Dom. Until one day, her childhood crush moves back into town. Her perfect life is turned upside down when she realizes that Gage (childhood cru

Oh my oh my oh my! I loved absolutely everything about this book! I loved Rory, I loved her family, even her over protective dad, cos there is nothing better than a man who can recognise his mistakes, her twin brothers, her friends, Dominic, even the old paramedic (who we meet more times than has to be normal!) this book literally kept me on the edge of my seat! I told the author when I was about 20 pages in that I already knew this was going to be one of those book

In December 2012 I discovered a new author. Elena Dillon. I loved her first book Breathe, so when I got the chance to read her latest novel, Crushing, I jumped on it.

This book was a pleasant surprise for me. With an equal amount of teenage romance and mystery it made for a pleasant and page turning read.

The story revolves around Rory who seems to find trouble wherever she goes. She is in her last year of high school and is on the path that her parents want for her. They even push for her to date the boy (o

Everything about this book was stellar!!! All the characters made me love them in one way or another! Rory, her dad, who is way overprotective, Gage of course, and then her brothers, her best friend, Dominic. When Rory gets stuck in the storm drain trying to rescue a puppy, I liked her from the very first chapter. She reminded me of myself. When her crush from highschool shows back up that’s when everything took a turn. Dominic is wanting to be more than friends, but he would never push Rory to ...more

I don't read lot of murder mystery types, but this book intrigued me. I was not disappointed either! I started reading it and had it finished in less than 24 hours. I just had to know who was behind the kidnapping and killing of the teenage girls. I also had to know who Rory would choose to be her boyfriend. With three guys fighting for her affection and her ability to be completely oblivious to how strong their affections go, you will be on edge trying to see who she ends up with. I personally ...more

I was hooked from the first page!! Aurora (Rory) is just the type of girl that trouble seems to follow and she certainly gets herself mixed up in plenty of it! I loved the story from the start and and all the characters involved, from her overprotective father and twin brothers who still treat her like she's 5, her circle of friends who have some really funny moments to the paramedic she encounters more than once!

Aurora (Rory) is a senior in high school and stuck under her parents thumb. They have her whole life planned out for her but it's not the life she wants. She wants the freedom her older brothers have. Unfortunately, due to her medical condition and the fact that trouble seems to follow her like a dark cloud, her family insists on being extremely overprotective.

The opening chapter of Crushing was one of the most amusing ones I have ever read! Rory has the magic of drawing trouble like a magnet. Wherever she goes, she manages to end up in sticky and sometimes very undesirable situations, like jumping inside a drainpipe trying to save a puppy when it’s pouring rain and filling up by the second. She’s not one to think things through, she just jumps into whatever comes into her mind and later deals with whatever outcome she gets out of it.

This book was very well written and I loved every moment of the story! I will definitely be looking for more from this author in the future. Rory was always finding trouble and even when she was trying to do the right thing, it somehow managed to get blundered more often than not which made for some frustration and laughs. Gage and Dominic were both such good guys, but I loved Gage because he had so much going on and had more facets to his personality that were revealed throughout the book. Even ...more

Equal parts terrifying and charming, Crushing is a fascinating read. The plot could have easily been a mystery story that tried to throw in a romance or a romance novel trying to appear edgy, but it wasn't. Elena Dillon weaves these two elements weave together seamlessly and it makes for a really fun ride.

And while the story itself is great, it's the characters themselves you'll fall in love with. From Rory's best friend Veronica to her hilarious and overprotective twin brothers, each one posses

I am used to read contemporary romance. So I kind of had to alter my thinking when it came to rating this book. I'm kind of going back to my earlier days when I read more YA books. With that said, I really enjoyed it. It kept me interested all the way through.

I loved all of the main characters. When I started reading, I just sort of got caught up in all the drama. Rory was my favorite character and who the story centered around. She had a great attitud

Elena Dillon keeps you guessing the outcome all the way to the end of this captivating murder mystery. Rory is a Senior in high school. She has it all a good Southern family, well off, a nice looking guy every teen girls dream. Rory also has the tendency to find herself in hairy situations. Like being stuck in a story drain in the pouring rain , because she decided to rescue a puppy.

This isn't my usual genre, but couldn't seem to drag myself away from the suspense. Even when I had to leave, I synced the story on my phone, and read while waiting or riding in the car. This one sucks you in big time, and with books, that's never bad.

I lived in SC for five years, and I always connect with places I know. I loved the southern hospitality references, oh and the squirrel references were hilarious. Now I'll admit the sport of choice, I know nothing about it, but Rory loves to golf a

Elena, THANK YOU for this amazing book.

I gave this book 5 stars and I really believe it deserves every single one of them. When a well written book actually gets a physical reaction out of me, I know it is deserving of a great rating.

This is the story of a girl whose childhood crush moves home. The ensuing drama is amazing. Besides boy drama, there is also the threat of kidnapping with other girls going missing. The result is her life basically on lock-down and how she handles all of it.

a great little love story. It has a bit of mystery and a bit of angst-y love and tug of war.

I really liked Gage. I thought he was sweet and great and just a really good guy to read about - minus the crazy angry violence.
And I thought her brothers were really cute.

But Aurora - Rory - I thought she was a little scattered. She waffled a little too long for me (I wanted to shake her and tell her to pick one already!)

I would have loved more mystery and more time devoted to what I thought was the them

I won this book in the author's giveaway & was asked in exchange for an honest review when I was done reading it. It took me a little while to read the book but I finally finished it. It was a really good book. It had a love triangle. A high school teen went missing. & things keep happening to Aurora. I loved this book. As soon as I started it I couldn't put it down. I'm one of those people who can always tell who the murrder/kidnapper is with the context clues, but this time I couldn't. When the killings/kidnappings started and stopped when Gage came and left, I thought the killer was his father trying to get his attention or something. And boy, was I waaaaay off. I really liked this book, it had suspense, romance, and mystery. What's not to love? The author did a great job at creating characters that you grew to like and could relate to as well as a plot that was fast-paced and kept you on the edge of your seat. This was a fun and intriguing story. The author pretty much had me at the beginning when the main character is trying to rescue a chocolate lab puppy. Then, like with any good story, I kept reading because I wanted to know what happened next. There were a few times when I wanted to Gibbs-slap the teenage girl Rory for the things she thought or did or said, but then I would remind myself she's just a teenager and realize - oh yeah, that's probably about right. Haha!

I liked the characters, the sto

I thought the storyline was really good... it was mysterious, creepy and kept you guessing throughout... although I wanted to dislike some of the characters I just couldn't, they turned out to be either really nice or just misunderstood, and Gage... ugh... swoon much!?

The thing that let this down for me was the writing... maybe it's just me, because I'm not as young as I used to be, but it really felt very young... I'm hoping that this is because it's
