While this is hardly the genre I typically read, I really enjoyed this book. The struggles of Jesse Clark, the main character, as she adjusted to life in a new town under the shadow of her father was impressively written. I won't rehash the plot here, but I will say that this story was different from others I've read in the genre, and that's what I like about it. It wasn't predictable or cliche. I look forward to reading more from the author.

This book has so many layers that it's impossible to categorize and hard to review. Plot-wise, it's a thriller. Emotionally, it's a study in loneliness executed with power I haven't seen since Ender's Game (and maybe not even then). Philosophically, it starts out with a simple dilemma of a teenager trying to fit in and ends up with enough Christological references to make the authors' pen name more than a little ironic. And in case you don't see it coming from the synopsis, it has a certain poli

If you want a fantastic story about a girl with guts, this is it. The Sacrificial Daughter follows Jesse Clark's life as she enters a new town and is immediately and simultaneously set upon as the towns scapegoat/whipping boy(girl). Despite that, she tries to make friends with anyone who shows even the slightest interest and falls for a boy(Ky) who shows no interest beyond the simple raising of an eyebrow. For him that's practically a declaration of love. The story builds along with Jesse's suff ...more

Great story of love, forgiveness, and sacrifice
A sad tale of fear, blinding hate, love, forgiveness, and sacrifice. I enjoyed it, but as a parent, I felt that Jesse's parents were out of touch. They underreacted to the obvious injuries of their child and pretty much allowed awful things, including death, to happen. But the message of forgiveness was excellent. ...more

Surprisingly good. I thought going in that this was simply a thriller of the serial murder variety, but there was a religious aspect that was so subtle that it wasn't until near the end that I realized it was there at all. Tastefully done.

Excellent!
Strong female character but with a touch of fragility, a story that shows how humans can be ugly and beautiful. You'll never walk in a forest with innocence again... ;) ...more

WOW. Just when I thought I had my favorite Peter Meredith book picked out, I listened to The Sacrificial Daughter. WOW.
This is such a good book, I absolutely loved it. Such amazing messages, such scary stuff! It had my emotions all over the place (and I'm not very emotional lol!). I could so relate with her plight, so rooted for her. This book is so well written and also so well narrated, you should most definitely give it a listen. It will make you laugh, cry, THINK.
