It’s been ten years, and I live every day with the weight of regret on my shoulders.
We’ve all done bad things, things that we are ashamed of. But those things make us the people that we are today. And today, I’m Liam Brown. When those closest to me were killed, I had to kill my former self just to stay alive. My real name is Micah Lomano, and I left my life fabricating a web of lies along the way to keep what I had done a secret. But I never forgot about Natalene, and now nothing matters…because I don’t have her.
After one fatal night rocked us to the core, everything changed.
I had everything I’d ever wanted: the perfect guy, a loving family, and more money than I knew what to do with. But in an instant, my world stopped. Somehow I’d survived, but I lost everything I knew, everything I wanted. Including myself. I knew then that nothing would ever be the same. I waited for Micah to find me, just like he promised he would. But he never did, and it was when I needed him most. So I was forced with a choice, one that I didn’t want to make: Raise his child on the run or give her up?
The decision wrecked me and what hurt most off all…Micah had no idea that I was pregnant.

Even though this wasn't my favorite of the series, Natalene and Micah's story still managed to touch my heart. Just by reading the blurb, I could tell that this was going to keep my attention. This love story has the intensity and passion that this author in known for, and the storyline to back it up. There were a few things that bothered me, but all in all, this was a beautiful and enjoyable romance from beginning to end.
One thing the author did extremely well was keep up the anticipation factor throughout the story. From the very beginning, I knew that this story would have its layers and its complexities, and I knew I would be biting my nails for more.
SKEPTICISM kept my interest but the pacing of the story fell flat. Meaning, some parts were too slow, too drawn out, and some just flew by way too fast - nothing I couldn't handle, but it did throw me for a loop. The lawyer speak bugged me a bit because of the repetitiveness of it all, and the secondary characters (mainly the two lawyers that works with Micah/Liam in his 'new' life) didn't do anything for me at all. They were weak, when I'm used to strong secondary characters from this author.
The emotion was there! The emotion I felt for their STORY was real. The chemistry between them was believable and smokin' hot might I say, but MY OWN connection to the lead characters was nonexistent. This part is hard for me because I'm such an emotional reader. I NEED to connect with these characters on such a level that I feel it bone deep, and I just couldn't make it work here.
In the end, I know (just by seeing the early reviews) that a lot of romance readers will LOVE this story. I'm not knocking that at all. I would read this again if there were horrible reviews because I believe in this author and her talent. I've loved this series and I'm a huge fan of the amount of emotion that this author can put into a novel. Romance readers should try this one out. Even though I didn't fall HEAD OVER HEELS for this installment of the series, doesn't mean I wouldn't recommend it to others. Everyone, from dedicated fan to newbie of her work, should check out this series.

Sometimes a man just wants his woman next to him always, "he turns on the shower and undresses. “No, I do.” He stands under the water and asks, “Are you getting in?” Micah is a very protective, alpha man, “I don’t know what I’ll do, baby, but I’m not going to have him threatening you, or thinking what he did was okay. He put his hands on you, and for that, he needs to pay.” I enjoyed this book Micah was just so damn sexy.
Liam Brown has been living a life that is not at all what it seems. He used to be someone else. He used to love someone with every fiber of his being. He lost almost everyone that mattered to him and now ten years later something is begging for his attention.
Natalene had it all, until it was taken away. Leaving behind her love and fleeing before anyone found her. She made a quiet new life for herself holding on to hope that one day she would no longer have to run and find her soul mate once again.
Liam decides that he needs to find Natalene and once again become Micah. But his choice does not go over as planned and the people that they have been running from find them and plan to make them pay. And pay dearly for the deeds that tore them apart all those years ago. Never having lost their chemistry to each other, not even after 10 long years, these two are explosive together. But in order to survive they need to use tricks they haven't in some time and are up against a ticking clock.
I never expected the secrets Liam was hiding or the life he lived before he became who he is today. The book kept my focus and interest as we learn about his and Natalene's past and now how they have to maneuver their present to ensure a future. I like that I did not anticipate how they were going to work this problem out.I never imagined the lengths they would go to and that made the book even more interesting. Did I mention that is was smoking hot too...good lord? The two characters have years of pent up frustration to work out, and work it out they do. If you are looking for a super sexy, intriguing read, look no further because this is it.
LK Collins does it again! I absolutely love her writing. She comes up with some of the best characters that you will ever want to read about. Natalene and Micah are flawed people that led a life of crime when they were younger. Then tragedy hits and Micah 'dies' while Natalene goes on the run. Ten years later, Micah is living a much different life as Liam - a very successful lawyer. Things happen that puts Natalene back at the front of his mind and he finally gives into temptation and sets out to find her. Will they be able to make a life together after all of these years, or will the past come back to put a permanent end to them for good? What a wonderful story. You will definitely want to check this one out!

This story sucked me in right from the start. Things all started happening right away. I liked that ghd story got right to the point. Once Nat and Micah were reunited their passion for one another was intense. I was left breathless at times and super nervous at others. I would find myself holding my breath in hopes that something bad wasn't lurking around the corner for these two. They had their work cut out for them so they could even attempt to be safe for the first time in over a decade. That last chapter got me. Such happy tears were shed.
I have to say this book has more of a story then the first 3. But still I wish it was more about the story than so much about the sex. It got overwhelming boring and at a point I couldn't wait to be done with it. Not my favorite sorry!
Couldn't stop once I started! Another freaking awesome book from the wonderfully talented Ms. Collins. Oh, how I love Micah & Nat. Just goes to show... The purest of love, last a lifetime. Well done!
Wow! This was so different from all the other books, I wasn't expecting this. Still a really good story. Micha and Natalene were always meant to be together. Things just got really messed up. Chives and decisions were made that altered their lives forever. Reunited they have to fight to keep their love together. An exciting and exhilarating story.
Skepticism from L.K. Collins is a hot 5+ star read. Erotic Romance, Hot Alpha, Ugly Cry
WOW, what a great read. There were so many great elements to this story.

The book has a tragic start that puts Natalene on the run thinking that Micah is dead along with his family. Micah doesn’t know why he is spared but moves on with a new life as Liam.
Ten years later, Liam is a lawyer and can’t seem to stop thinking about Natalene. He starts to search for her, when they're reunited the passion reignites like they were never apart. Will they be able to have a great life without having to look over their shoulders every day? L.K. Collins does a great job of drawing you into the story. These characters were great together and the sex was of the charts hot, I love Micah and Natalene. There is passion, love, hate, suspense, danger and drama that will keep you turning the pages until the end. Ugly cry guaranteed. I highly suggest 1-clicking this great read, you won’t be dissappointed.
Warning: there is graphic sexual and violent content.

SKEPTICISM is the fourth book in the Life, Destiny, Fate Series by L. K. Collins. This book can be read as a standalone, but trust me, read them all. Each book compliments each other and the characters and stories are unforgettable. L. K. Collins talent’s shine in this series. It is easy to see why this series is a #1 best seller.
SKEPTICISM continues with Micah and Natalene's tumultuous love story. Their love story is emotional, heart wrenching, and passionate, and will take so many dangerous twists and turns. You will cry, laugh and be totally amazed at the situations they find themselves in. I love these characters. L. K. Collins has a unique ability to create memorable characters and situations.
Micah Lomano had a sketchy past that he had to forget to stay safe. Unfortunately, that also meant trying to forget the most important person in his life, Natalene. He now goes by Liam Brown and is a partner in the same law firm as Vincent. Even though he is a very successful lawyer and partner in a prestigious law firm, he couldn't enjoy the success without her. He lives with his secret, but the one thing he couldn't get over was his love for Natalene. She haunted his every breath and without her life had no meaning.
Natalene loves Micah with every breath she takes. She has waited for Micah to find her like he swore he would. She needed him desperately and was keeping a secret he didn't know. She is pregnant with his child. Natalene has a choice to make that no mother ever wants to make. She is still in danger and has to decide if she should keep the baby and stay on the run, or give up the child. How heart breaking!
Time has slowly slipped by. It has now been ten years since the awful event occurred. Natalene believes that Micah is dead and Micah is still grieving over Natalene. He comes to the conclusion that if his life is to matter he has to try and locate Natalene.
Will Micah and Natalene get the second chance they both desperately need? Will the dangers threaten their happily ever after?
LK Collins knows how to write strong and memorable characters. Her latest installment in the Life.Destiny.Fate series proves it.
Micah/Liam and Natalene have intense chemistry and their story is one to keep the reader engaged from beginning to end. Like the others in the series, this book is full of emotional and scorching hot scenes.
Micah and Natalene have been in love for ages; their separation doing nothing to diminish that passion they’ve always felt for each other. Past decisions and actions have caused them to so much pain and now that they’ve found each other, getting rid of those ghosts from the past is their objective. But things always have a way of catching up to you and they both find that leaving the bad behind is not as easy as they hope.
Unlike the others, this Micah and Natalene’s story is shock full of dangers and the anticipation of those past ghosts catching up to them is ever present. I found myself holding my breath several times, waiting for the horrible things lurking in the background.
I did enjoy this installment. I loved Micah and Natalene’s strong personalities and the way they both took charge. I liked seeing Natalene beside Micah in everything and not cower in the face of danger. I liked that Vincent from Fatalism, the first book in the series, appears here as one of the partners in the law firm. The one thing that I missed, though, was seeing the Alpha in him that his book showcased.
All in all, this was another excellent addition to the series and a demonstration of the wonderful way that LK Collins’ writing is evolving.
OK so starting Skepticism while trying to go to sleep may have not been my best idea! It started with a bang, and never let down so I could catch my breath so I didn't go to sleep until I finished it.
Micah Lomano aka Liam Brown had grown up breaking the law. When his last act went badly, his whole family was killed, and he had to go on the run. Now 10 years later, he's a successful attorney with a new identity, but the problem is that he can't get the girl he loved out of his head. He decided to not go back for her so she would stay safe, and he's full of regret. Natalene had it all before that night; enough money for the rest of her life, the man she loved above all others, and a loving family. She waited for Micah to find her, but he never came. She was pregnant when she went on the run with no one to help her, so she did what she had to do to keep her baby safe. Now Michah's back, and she's having a hard time with him as he never knew what they had lost. Will Micah be able to keep Natalene with him this time to keep her safe before it's too late?
I LOVED every minute of this intense story! The character development is great, with secondaries that rounded out the story perfectly. A fast paced, action packed, and well written story line flows very smoothly. Among all the action and danger, L.K. Collins did a brilliant job with layering in heart wrenching angst that had me tearing up. The sexy scenes are EXPLOSIVELY HOT HOT HOT, with all consuming love standing the test of time. My heart was racing cover to cover without pause, and I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Explosive! That’s one of the words I’ll use to describe this gem by LK Collins. From the beginning you are pulled into a story of love, murder, and loss. Micah and Natalene’s story is filled with so much raw emotions. You can feel their pain from being away from each other and will want nothing but a happy ending for this couple who have so much more to lose than each other. Their passion for each other is carnal. They devour each other and use their love as fuel to set their sights on a future they did not dream could be possible. I loved how they worked as a team. When one was weak, the other was strong. Hearing from both characters POV is essential because you have to understand what they are up against. These two are like Benson and Stabler from “Law & Order SVU” they are smart, skillful, tactful, and thorough. I secretly wished I could live a life of crime for a split second just to be next to them! I don’t think I was able to breath until the end. I’m giving “Skepticism” 4 stars!
I received a copy of this in exchange for an honest review. I really enjoyed Micah and Nat's story. It is very well written and the story line flows very well. It's a story about two people who love each other so much and because their love is so great they end up losing so many years just trying to ensure the safety of each other. The characters are very well developed and easy to connect with. There is just the right mix of passion, love, hate, suspense, danger, mystery and drama in this story that it keeps you turning the pages! There are plenty of steaming hot scenes throughout this book to keep your kindle screen steamed up. If you enjoy a passionate love story with a suspenseful twist in it, then you will enjoy this book. Be warned that there is graphic violence and graphic sexual content in it, so if either bothers you, this may not be for you. Overall I think it was a really enjoyable read! Great job Ms. Collins!
Micah and Nat were in love and leading a life filled with scams and robbery. When revenge tears them apart for years, they both start new lives under alias'. Micah can never forget the love of his life and the guilt of not trying to find her sooner leads him back into her arms.
Can old flames be reignited and can they begin a new life together ...a more legal one or will the past come back to haunt them?
Micah and Nat, as all the couples in this series are intensely "romantic" and can't seem to keep their hands off each other but for some reason Micah and Nat never gave me that feeling, maybe because I felt like they both had no problem diving right back into an illegal lifestyle...Didn't karma already split their family apart, why risk it all again??
Skepticism was not my favorite book in a series but is a must read if you are an L.K. Collins fan as I am.
I really liked the story but the plot wasn't believable. Timeline, careers (mainly his) and other things just made it impossible for me to swallow.
I like Micah and Natalene's relationship, even though I choked down the fact that she would be open to rekindling the relationship so quickly after how it ended. Their relationship is strong and very intense but I formed no real connection with the couple, which was a pity because they had some hot sex scenes in between the plotting and scheming.
My interest was peaked from the very beginning but as events unfold I became disenchanted. Some sections dragged and some went by all too quickly, which made me take longer to complete it. I'm not a huge fan of this book but for those who LOVE a fairy tale HEA, it's a MUST READ.
This was my favorite book of the series so far, I really enjoyed it! 4.5 Stars!
Liam and Natalene lived a life of crime as young adults. Liam aka Micah was “killed” and 10 years later has now come back into Natalene’s life as a sexy, successful, lawyer. Immediately upon seeing one another again the sparks fly and their relationship is intense. Micah goes to any lengths to protect what’s his and he considers Natalene his, though Natalene isn’t the type to just sit back and allow him to protect her. She’s right in the middle of things and it makes for a very interesting read.
I really enjoyed that this book got straight into things and it had such a strong storyline outside the bedroom which was an unexpected, but good, change from the previous books in this series. I can’t wait to read more!
Skepticism is book four in the Life and Destiny Fate, it starts ten years after.
Natalene and Micah where a young couple that committed some crimes, a tragedy happens when Micah apparently dies and so Natalene has to run. This book starts ten years after that. Micah is now known as Liam, a very successful lawyer, after such a long time he decides to start searching for Natalene.
What happens next is for you all to find out in this beautifully written story. Would they get back or their past will keep them apart?
I totally recommend this book and the whole series. The book will drag you in from the beginning and will keep you on edge through the story. Main characters are well developed, the emotions are palpable and you will be immersed in them.
I was really excited to read this book. In reading in the previous books, I knew that Liam had a story he was hiding. WOW! What a story he was hiding. With his life of crime and the love of his life behind him, he does everything in his power to lead a normal life until he can't get his first love out of his mind. When everything is on the line, will he go back to his old life or fight for love and everything he has in his life now?
Ms. Collins once again brings out the Hottest scenes and make you feel like your one of her characters. I love how she bring in so much emotion with these characters. Can't wait to read more from her in the future.
I recieved this for an honest review. I found myself absolutely falling in love with these characters especially Micah.. His character was just so alpha as so awesome!!!
Micah and Nat have a super interesting story and one that I was pulled right into!!! The love these two have even being separated for 10 years just blew me away~!! I was pulled right into this story (just like always with this author). I found myself absolutely in love..
This author never ceases to amaze me with her writing and her skills to just pull the emotions and never knowing what is coming next!! Such a wonderful read!!
This is Micah and Natalene’s story. My heart hurt for both characters, but I absolutely adored Micah’s strong, protective side with Natalene.
While living a life of crime, Micah and Nat only know breaking the rules, and it ultimately causes Micah his family. Ten years later, Micah is a lawyer with thoughts of Nat circulating in his mind.
Skepticism contains everything. Not only is there suspense, there is also raw emotion as well as moments of extreme intensity. If you are looking for a fast-paced, jam-packed action story, this one won’t disappoint.
I received this arc for an honest review. This is book 4, Liam's story. I really enjoyed this one. I feel like the books get better as they go. Liam has a sad, messed up back story and his past comes back to bite him. Though a part of his past that shows up is definitely a good thing. He struggles to complete a task owing someone a past debt. Will he complete the task in time? While I was happy with one part of the ending, I was kind of sad with the way things ended with CJ and Vince. I was kind of hoping for something more from the three of them, like an Epilogue telling what happens down the road. All in all great read!
Full of raw emotion, intense love and passion...I wouldn't expect anything less from LK Collins. Although it's not my favorite of the series (Troy will always have my heart) it is still a perfect fit to one of my all time favorite series.
Nat and Micah as so full of love, passion, hate, drama, suspense - this book keeps you on the edge of your seat. Another amazing read from LK and you definitely don't want to pass up this read.
More, More so much more!!! L.K gives suspense, passion and heat. Thsi book the story of Micha and Nat gives us the more that I stated n the beginning. A Past that threatens and a love that will consume. Yo wont want to put this book down and end up just a little blind from reading all night like did. But hey it was all worth it in the end because I was engulfed in love passion and yes som much more that I can't find the words.
LK is my go-to author because she NEVER lets me down. Skepticism kept me on my toes had me flipping those pages. I loved the suspense, and all the drama. And the love. The love was so strong. Even after 10 years. It was incredibly powerful.
This book was a little hard to follow with the back and forth and name changes to the characters. over all this book was fast pace sexy as hell love story and second chance love . Great read i would totally recommend <3
This book is a must read ! I'm happy and a little sad about the ending. I can't really elaborate more without giving anything away. If you have read her other books you will definitely not be disappointed. One more thing I need CJs storyline please do not leave him out.
This is the first book by L.K. Collins that I have read, and I have to say that I am impressed. Family means everything, and nothing will stop family from being together. Now I have to go read the rest of the books!
