A boy, a man and a dog

Robin Masterson's ten-year-old son, Jeff, wants to make friends with the dog next door. The problem is that Blackie belongs to Cole Camden--the unfriendliest man in the Mastersons' new neighborhood.

Cole hadn't always been so solitary, so aloof. The deaths of his wife and son had embittered him, and that was something Robin could understand. Her own mu

Wonderful, sweet book of dealing with loss and finding new love! So powerful to read as Cole and Robin fall in love and include Jeff in their new relationship. Hope there will be a sequel so we can see how their lives change and grow as time goes by. Loved it!!

Father’s Day is Debbie Macomber’s 42nd stand-alone romance novel. When widow, Robin Masterson, and her 10-year-old son Jeff move out of their apartment into a house with a garden, Jeff is looking forward owning a dog. Unfortunately, Robin feels they can’t afford a dog just yet. Luckily, there’s a lovely black labrador right next door. Trouble is, Blackie is owned by Cole Camden, and Cole seems to be the unfriendliest man in the neighbourhood. Jeff has a way with animals, and it seems, with unfri ...more

It was your typical Harlequin romance. I would say it was not the best Debbie Macomber book I have ever read but it was alright. I love her Cedar Cove series (even though I have only read one of them - trying to find the ones I am missing before I start the rest). Story is about a single mom who purchases a new house for her and her young son (his dad died when he was quite young in a car accident). They meet their new neighbour who has his own share of personal tragedy. Story is about how the o ...more

In Macomber’s romance novel, Robin Masterson and the very bitter Cole Camden have something in common besides living next door to each other. Both lost people in their lives. Robin lost her husband when her son Jeff was just a baby and Cole lost both his son and wife. Robin has moved on and is trying to be a good mother to her son while Cole simmers in bitterness. When Jeff decides he wants a dog, the closest dog there is belongs to Cole. With the determination of the young, Jeff persists in spe ...more

Sweet, clean, romance about two people who've experienced great loss and sorrow. Both have carried the weight of grief for years. A black lab, a 10 year old boy, and a chance encounter as new neighbors brings healing, forgiveness and the opportunity to love again. I couldn't believe this was a Harlequin Romance book. The last Harlequin I read was so trashy and full of profanity and sex. This was a refreshing change!

A nice short story about to grieving people coming together and falling in love. I loved reading about Jeff and the big role he played in getting Cole and Robin together. All the stuff that came of out Jeff's mouth were witty, hilarious and just plane mature especially for a 10 year old. Jeff was a character and I enjoyed reading about him. A must read.

This is such a sweet story of two adults falling in love.
Neither one was "looking" for a romance, after losing their Spouses, they didnt know if
they would ever find love again.
I enjoyed this story very much.

I read about half and then skipped to the end. Probably just me or my mood but I found it a trifle boring.
