PB 48: Overall, I thought this book was a good tale to read to children because of the magic and hope that was portrayed. I was drawn into the story by the bold-colored images that looked three dimensional, and as if they were going to pop out of the page. I think this stylistic choice set the tone for the grand world of possibility that was presented in this story, and it allowed me to feel as though I was a part of the story. Someone painted a flying rocking horse and we were trying to figure out the book that it came from. We came across this book - so, I needed to read it. The overall sentiment of the story was touching...and I would have liked to like it better. But, there was just something a little off about it for me. I didn't fall in love with the boy's rocking horse like I did with L's rock ...more

It is hard to believe Mercer Mayer wrote and illustrated The Rocking Horse Angel. The illustrations are computer-generated and the text is boring.
