I have a large collection of these automobile books and this one is a nice addition. The book contains the typical history of the automobile in America. The beauty of this book is the incredible photography of iconic classic cars and how it tells the design story and chronology with each breathtaking photo. From the 1903 Cadillac Model A to the 2008 Cadillac CTS, the artistic photography of these machines is incredible and directly appeals to my taste: close ups of design elements, wheel treatments, hood ornament, grilles, instrumentation panels, headlights, taillights, chrome and fins. The book is slanted toward GM styling which is fine with me but might be a let down to Ford and Chrysler enthusiasts.
