This book has been on my shelves a long time. I recently re-read it, and enjoyed it again. The heroine is a small-town Texas girl who was desperate to escape and make news in the Big City. Literally--she wants to be a TV news producer. She's been working her way up through smaller markets and assistant jobs, and has finally made it to a cable network position in NYC. The hero is a Secret Service agent who's at home in small-town Texas recuperating from taking a bullet for the President. The heroine gets her big break when she's asked to produce a segment for a big show on HEROES, about the hero's heroic deed. She does Not want to go back to Texas, but this is her chance...
This is a cute story with a slight touch of a suspense moment in it. The conflict is real, but it's told with a very light touch. It's been out a few years, but it's worth looking for if you want a light, contemporary romance.

I loved this book and re-read it already several times - Holly and Cal Griffin - Leaving her unhappy childhood in Texas behind, TV producer Holly Hicks lands in New York and is given a shot to produce a spot about injured Secret Service Agent Cal Girffin. The catch: Holly must return to Texas where Cal now recovers. Can they end up healing each other? Original. End of story - Cal goes to NYC to see Holly and propose to her. He has been offered head of security for the president at his library. Beautiful love story...

This was cute. She has to make a report on the 'hero' that saved the president's life. He thinks he was just doing his job - and she agrees!
