Really tough...

This book is well written but it was hard. I love suspense and all of that kind of drama but this was... sick. Twisted. Repulsive.

Also, the see-saw of guilt and apologies was growing old.

Wouldn't write off the author, but can't say that I'm a fan of The Waiting Game.

Waiting—yes, that is what I am doing—eagerly waiting for the next Eve Devon novel! Devon twists the lives of Brooke Bennet and Cameron Dexter so seamlessly that we are sewn right into that seam waiting with held breath not only for this gorgeous bodyguard to save Brooke from the psychopath of her past, but to save her from herself.
If you want a romantic suspense with twist and turns in the plot, a book that will grab you and throw you around until the very end, you'll love this book. My first Eve Devon read, and I bow gracefully to her talent to write one hell of a thriller romance novel. The storyline itself was awesome, but with this book, you deal with a straight up, certifiable, batshit crazy psycho, and in my opinion, it takes talent to write a character like that. "Normal" people can't imagine what it's like to get ...more

'The Waiting Game' is a twisty, well paced story with a damaged but so courageous heroine - Brooke and a sexy, guilt ridden hero - Cam. Hooked from the first chapter I read this book in a couple of hours.
The stalker element in this story is menacing. The author conveys Brooke's horrific experiences cleverly without resorting to descriptions of gratuitous violence. Sharing Brooke's point of
Security expert Cameron Dexter made a mistake once when he was protecting musician Brooke Bennett, five years later he still carries the guilt of what happened. When Cameron finds out her attacker has been released on probation, five years later, Cameron is by her side whether she likes it or not.

Brooke has been living in a carefully structured shell, the horror from the attack still curdles her stomach. Her attraction to Cameron and her independent nature were to blame for what happened. Now th

I was shocked by the twist at the end, but kept wondering if something was up with Brooke's friends. Cameron was trying to protect her, but kept feeling like he failed. He didn't realize that he had someone close to Brooke working against him. Brooke was so courageous about putting herself out there. Cameron kept Brooke at arms length, but Brooke kept trying to break down Cam's defenses and get him to admit how he really felt. I liked the ending and how Cam and Brooke finally broke through each ...more
A very different animal than Devon's contemporary romance, both the Thriller and the Romance aspects of THE WAITING GAME fell flat for me. Brooke and Cameron's relationship stayed in the same holding pattern all the way through, and the thriller catalyst that finally brings them together dragged on without building any meaningful tension. None of the snappy dialogue that I loved in THE LOVE LIST adw an appearance, but I'll still be eager to read more of Devon'slighter rnace.

Thanks Netgalley for a copy to read and review.

Outstanding job, except for the fact the first part of the book made me keep thinking I'd missed book one but this is a standalone not a series. Brooke and Cameron have a history. He was her bodyguard and lover and failed to protect her from a madman. Skip five years and suddenly said madman is out on early release. Cameron has left her alone for five years and now suddenly stands on her doorstep ready to whisk her away. I enjoyed the last half of

Should you really play the waiting game with a psychopath or should you fight for your freedom to finally be able to live your life, to fall in love to be you. This is what Brooke decided to do she was tired of the psychopath winning it was time to regain her life.

Brooke Bennett was a singer for a duo group “Nocturne” and was also the song writer. They were a very popular group but something happened one day when she decided to go against her bodyguard demands. She liked defying him, she liked t

I really enjoyed The Waiting Game, perhaps even more so than I expected. It was a thrilling read and exciting to the end!

Former rock star Brooke Bennett has been living in hiding since a vicious attack five years ago left her physically and mentally scarred. Brooke went from being an outgoing, flirty, musician to a reclusive, shell of her former self. Brooke has spent the time since being kidnapped by evil stalker Spinks avoiding everybody and tryi

4.5 STARS - (I was given the book for an honest review)
Eve Devon is a genius when romance or suspense is concerned. Luckily we find both in here! I really loved this book and I must say that I was completely fascinated by it. From the beginning I felt an instant connection with the characters, especially with Brooke. Brooke Bennet lived a sweet life as a musician until she tasted bitterness when a crazy stalker kidnapped her and tattooed her. I don’t know why but I positioned myself in her shoes
Brooke had been a star and then she became a victim of a sick and perverted kidnapper who stole her dreams, her life and her courage. Now she is hiding out in fear, scarred physically, mentally and emotionally. Cameron was the man who was supposed to protect her, and he failed, because he got distracted, by Brooke. For five years they have not had contact, but the twisted villain is now out of prison and on the hunt again, to finish what he started with Brooke. Should Brooke face her demons or h ...more

Having never read anything by Eve Devon before, I wasn't entirely sure what I was getting myself into. The blurb sounded enticing enough for me to pick up this one, and from the very first page we're thrust into Brooke's broken world. I both loved and was annoyed with Brooke. Which is a very good thing. It means that Brooke isn't one dimensional as a characters, she has layers. What bugged me about her, was her constant need to do the very opposite of what people were telling her. And she kept t ...more

A romantic suspense that will keep you wondering what will happen next. I found it hard to put down and absolutely loved the characters.

Brooke Bennett, one half of a musical duo, has spent the last five years trying to get passed the trauma of being kidnapped and tortured by a stalker. She held up in France to avoid the media, music, and all things in between. Even friends. When her narcissistic stalker is somehow released from prison, her former bodyguard Cameron shows up on her doorstep.

This was great! Wow.
The Waiting Game is a really good read. I actually didn’t expect that. The story hooked me in from the first line. I don’t really know why but I felt instantly connected to the characters.

I totally liked that sexy bodyguard vibe Cameron had. Brooke had a very strong personality. Even though due to her circumstances she had every right to be, she wasn’t that helpless damsel in distress.

Of course she had some major panic attacks. I a

The premise of this book as far as how Brooke had been tortured, and the theory of why the psycho needed to do it was something I had never heard of or read about before, it is very original. Also there are a few scenes in the book that come from his point of view, and I have to say Eve Devon wrote them very well as I was thoroughly creeped out, well done!

I loved all of the characters in this book, my favourite was Brooke as I felt I could relate to her best. Cameron is also fantastic, and it wa

I really liked how this book sounded which got me interested in reading this book. Brooke has been tortured and the person who did this had to do what he did. New upcoming author Eve Devon wrote this book very well and it definitely creeped me out. It was romantic and it will always keep you on your toes.

Brooke is a very interesting character as well because she spent 5 years getting over a passed trauma of being kept captive by a stalker. Brooke Bennett has live full of music until this traum

Unrequited Love, Victim, Survivor, Fearful…. Those are just a few of the terms that are associated with Brooke Bennet. There's a tidal wave of guilt and heroism in The Waiting Game overwhelming both Brooke and Cameron, whose history stretches back 5 years - back when Brooke was an impulsive a petulant musician sorely in need of (but oblivious to) personal protection from a stalker. She is a changed woman 5 years later, more measured, wary and cautious, living in isolation in France, until Cameron bursts back into her life when her stalker, Andre Spinks, is released from prison.

The rest of the story is fairly pr

When I started reading this book, my interest was piqued and I wanted to find out more about what happened to Brooke. However as I was reading on, I already seemed to have an idea as to what was going to happen during the course of the book. And to my disappointment, what I had thought would happen, did.

There weren’t any parts that really stood out, and made the book seem different than the other books written in this genre, and I was sorely disappointed in that fact. I had such high hopes for

This was a great romantic suspense book.
Five years ago Brooke was half a successful singing duo when she was kidnapped and tortured. At the time, Cameron was in charge of her security. He found her days after she was taken.
Five years later Brooke is living half a life hiding in France while Cameron blames himself for her kidnapping. And her kidnapper, Spinks, has just gotten out of jail for good behavior. Cameron is sure Spinks' focus on her hasn't diminished and he's determined to keep her safe

Eve Devon knows how to write romantic suspense books. The twists and turns in this books are great. It kept me riveted to the story from beginning to end. I couldn't put it down until I found out what would happen to Brooke and Cameron.

This was a well told romantic suspense story...Brooke has spent the last five years trying to recover from a horrible event, being kidnapped and tortured by her stalker when Cameron shows up on her doorstep, he was her bodyguard 5 years ago when Brooke was taken.

While a good read, I did find this pretty predictable and as much chemistry as Brooke and Cameron have....I just could not connect with them...where I can usually finish a book like this in one day I kept finding myself putting

I am not usually a big romantic suspense reader. I get a bit scared for one thing! And this is a bit scary... The villain is truly an evil guy... But the heroine is brave and the hero does help her. It's very fast-paced and suspenseful. A great story!
