Driving home from a concert, William Prout worries his rock star vocalist boyfriend Alex “Tank” Sherman is about to dump him. Things haven’t been the same between them since Tank and his nu metal band went to New York City to discuss a recording contract. William doesn’t think their relationship can withstand the increased publicity Tank’s fame will attract. Already Tank is withdrawn, distracted, and won’t answer any of William’s questions.
William’s fears heighten when Tank directs him off the highway and along a series of dirt tracks. Where are they going? Will the end of their car journey also be the end of them as a couple, or has Tank worked out a way to have both a career and William?

This was a really sweet short story. It starts off with William thinking his boyfriend of 3 years Tank "Alex" is about to dump him. He tells the story of how they met.
I loved the story, it had a lot of promise and it delivered on it all. The ending was no big surprise. But I was still glad it was that way and not how William thought it would be. I loved Tank, he was such a sweetheart. I thought he and William worked well.

Highly recommend this!

I wish this was a full length story.
William is insecure and so immediately captured my heart. Tank is the big strong guy with the soft center that I love. Throw in rock stars and my heart is very happy.
While I knew William was worrying for nothing I loved the way the story kept me going.
My only disappointment was the need for full on sex in such a short read.
A really good little read that I think would be great if turned into a full length novel.

Speaking to us in first person, William is the average-in-every-sense boyfriend of Tank, a famous and successful lead singer of metal band. Lately he’s been sensing Tank withdrawing from him, staying in New York longer and not having sex. William believes Tank is about to cut his losses, and appear as a straight singer which he can accomplish better without a boyfriend. As William drives Tank home from a gig the feeling grows stronger when Tank directs them away from home onto a desolate location.
I liked this story. We get a few flashbacks about William and Tank’s relationship, enough to get a sense of how good they’ve been together, how well they complement each other. William’s fears and doubts are strong and growing. Tank is nervous, fidgety, and quiet, throwing water into the mill of William’s uncertainties. But surprises await in the dark of night, and I was grinning from ear to ear by the end. Tank may look like a battle machine, rock hard (pardon the pun), but he’s sweet and tender, showing a side of him few undoubtedly ever get to see. And William’s desire to fight for his man just makes him more lovable.
The two men are different, but they fit. The story didn’t actually have to be any longer, the whole thing comes together very nicely. Good things in small packages. The writing’s solid and easy to follow, the sex is hot, and the romantic connection between these two men is shown with small gestures and friendship. I like subtlety in romance, even if Tank is apparently hung like a horse. But that’s good too! Recommended.

Sweet story about a rocker and his boyfriend. An established couple, William has noticed that Tank has been reserved and quiet for a few days. He’s worrying that he is t good enough, but luckily this is a short story that doesn’t have any angst. Very sweet and likable characters.

Tank has been acting weird since he went to New York (without asking William) to sign the contract.
This is a very short story so difficult to review without giving things away, but William is very insecure about his place in Tank’s life. And Tank is acting distant and odd. I loved the significance of “Rescue” and why Tank puts his all into it. This is a sweet short story that, as usual, I wish were longer. I’d love to have read more of their history and backstory. And of course, the future of Tank’s band!

This was a very sweet short story. Both charatcers had depth and their chemistry was real. The story fit the word count nicely and the writer was in control of the story. However, the pornier bits didn't blend in seamlessly and a fade to black might've worked out better.

A nice short read with a nice ending.

Sweet story about a guy insecure in his relationship. I felt his worries were realistic. I felt I read between the lines too easily but the plot was sweet.
