Valerie Burrows had had enough!! Forced to run from her own wedding when she was told her ex-best friend was having her fiance's baby! Oh she was furious when her dad took HIS side and never listen to a word she said! How chummy when lawyers stuck together and she swore off men especially lawyers. She didn't think when she took his classic corvette and headed out of Dallas only to have to car stop! Not thinking, she torched his car and headed to the bus station with her luggage still in her wedd ...more

First off this is a romantic comedy must read! The book is centered on Valerie Burrows who is about to go postal!. Wait too late she already did!. She is running from her own wedding. The circumstances behind this fiasco are given in small doses. It all keeps the plot moving rather fast. There are just as many serious parts as comedic moments. I loved when she finds her way to Colorado. The trip, the reasons for changing buses along the way are hilarious!.

She goes to pay her check at the diner

So what would you do if you found out that your best friend slept with your husband to be and now had a bun in the oven? Do a Julia Roberts "Runaway Bride" steal his Corvette and then torch it. Damm right! 3 Stars for a quick, fun and light read.

Valerie is a trust fund baby and she's on the run. She has no idea what real life is like. She travels with public transport her wallet and money is stolen and she is stuck in Bumsville (well actually Springtown) it's funny that she asks for things that

The Wanted Bride by Sylvia McDaniel

Valerie has run away from her wedding when she realizes her wallet has been stolen and she is stuck in Springtown, CO, population 294, with no money. I loved the book. Hated the ending. Otherwise I would have give it 5 stars.

Spoiler alert.....

Matt lied by checking her fingerprints. Then he wanted to see where it went....he did not say he loved Valerie.

THE WANTED BRIDE is a stand-alone, contemporary, chick-lit, romance. That said, why is it standing alone? There are plenty of people in Springtown, Colorado that I would love to see find their HEA, too!

I loved listening to this fun story of a runaway bride wanted for torching the groom’s vintage car when it, too, lets her down. I’ve never seen the Julia Robert’s movie, so this was a fresh storyline for me and I loved it. I’ll definitely be listening again during my endless work commute.

There is a LOT to like about this book with its delightful plot, smooth narration with great voices (did I mention I listened to the audiobook?) and a sweet HEA. But despite her provocations, I had some severe qualms at the start about the bride's actions which made her "wanted" (you'll understand when you read it but SPOILER if I told you now!); and later some of the standing on ceremony by the hero didn't quite jibe with the character previously depicted. And then there is Big Daddy . . . The ...more

She walked out of her wedding five minutes before she should have said I do. She stole her boyfriends car and left it burning on a Dallas St. So she gets on the bus and travels as far as she can and ends up in a small town in Colorado with no money and no credit cards. Not wanting her family to know where she is, she takes a job as a waitress and almost immediately falls for the town's lawyer. But she doesn't want to and she holds him off for a few months until she finally acknowledges their att ...more

Well it was a cute story. The bases of the story and the writing was good but I'm not a internal dialogue kind of reader. To me it just seemed long because of the two main characters spent to much time talking to them selves. Not my cup of tea.

A nice romance, with some heat and some sweet. The "runaway bride pretends to be someone else" plot isn't uniqye, but it is well handled.

Great read

This was a great read. I liked that Valerie, even though she came from a pampered background was willing to work to get out of a situation.

Delightfully entertaining romantic comedy that leaves you both satisfied and dying for more!

Sylvia McDaniel delivers an engaging and enjoyable story about two lonely souls that not only learn more about themselves but also find love in the most unlikely place. Valerie is a girl that is on the run after discovering that her fiancé not only cheated on her but also got her best friend pregnant. What’s a girl to do? She runs, and she runs right into the small town of Springtown and the arms of Matt

"Hadn't these people ever seen a runaway bride in real life before? Julia Roberts may have made the movie, but she didn't own the copyright to wedding disasters."

So technically this post was supposed to be just a guest blog/spotlight post but when I was going through my email I found a copy of the book was sent to me. When making this post I read the excerpt and that's what really caught my eye. I have a lot of books go get through and decided to put them aside for this book and hoped that it wo

I was very hesitant to begin reading The Wanted Bride because I thought I knew the whole runaway bride story and how it would end however, that's where I was wrong. I became completely taken in by this story and read it from beginning to end in one sitting not wanting to put it down. The humor, romance, and drama are equally interesting and keep you wanting to read The Wanted Bride. Valerie and Matt's story will have you laughing one minute and pulled into a crazy wonderful argument the next. S ...more
This plot has a small similarity to a book I recently finished reading. Lulu's Cafe. The big difference is there's know physical abuse in this novel and the heroine ran from her wedding before she said I do. What they do have in common is both women running away from their past and going to work in a small town restaurant and fall in love with the local lawyer. Valerie has just ran from her wedding to be and into her fiancee car which she eventually torches. So begins this novel of finding onese ...more

I enjoyed reading this book! The opening line will hook you right away and you’ll want to stick around to see how it ends.

Valerie is on the run from her lawyer fiancé, her lawyer father and her past. She ends up in the small Colorado town of Springtown where she’s moneyless, carless and jobless. She ends up at the local diner where the help wanted sign beckons her to take the job. She ends up as a waitress and tries desperately to avoid the good-looking lawyer in town, Matt.

Recommends it for: those wanting a light but entertaining romance.
This was an entertaining read. The plot had enough of a twist to keep you interested. I enjoyed the bantering between Matt and Valerie. Though, from the other Reviews, I did expect the book to have more humor in it, but it still had some good one liners. The best one was from a very unexpected source, a 14 year old- "Now I am".(You will see what I mean, when you read the book.) The town was very inviting with solid, good people that cared about each other. I finished this story, feeling good.

THE WANTED BRIDE manage.s to snow shoe just out of the mountains of boredom.

This simple slushy romance centers around a too strong to be real upper class, run-away bride that settles in a small Colorado town. She very predictably falls in love with the local as whole attorney rapidly transitions from wanting her out of town to wanting to know all the secrets of her heart. His juvenile-like abhorrence of her lying is an i

A funny, upbeat chick-lit read. Nothing too taxing here, a nice story and loads of laughs keeping things light. Perfect when you are looking to escape to a happy place and read while soaking in a bubble bath, really the best way to read chick lit in my opinion!

Valerie is a fun campy character, if a bit spoiled in the beginning. I loved following her on her journey and seeing her discover who she is and wants to be. She is engaging and likeable even when acting a touch bratty.

I loved the dynamic

CUTE story. Valerie is awesome. Readers will cheer for her from page one. Everything falls apart for her, but she pulls herself together and ends up so much stronger over time. She's definitely not perfect and the character arc in The Wanted Bride proves that.
The secondary characters shine in The Wanted Bride.
The hero...I'm a McDaniel fan, so I trust her. But I worried about Matt for a while. On his own, he was great. With Valerie...he was a jerk at first. By the halfway point, I hoped McDaniel

Well I wasn't sure what to expect when I started reading this book, definitely a runaway bride story.
Valerie blows into this small town in a blur and sets everything on its side. She is hurt and wants to avoid anything to do with what has just happened to her. She meets some great people in this small Colorado town and gets snowed into a whole new life.
Matt is a lawyer and sworn to himself that he will always be truthful and expects the same from everyone else. He is a top legal mind but has l

I really enjoyed this book. I clicked on it because it was free. Boy, am I glad that I did. This is the kind of story that I really love. Low on the angst. Just two people trying to find each other. No cliffhanger. Dual POV's. I could have shook both Matt and Valerie for the antics that they did during parts of the story, but it made the story so good. I enjoyed the secondary characters as well. Valerie is a bad@$$ for her actions against her ex. Good for her. She is a strong woman!!! This is a ...more

Do you trust lawyers? This book is amazingly well written and very entertaining. It's also a very fast paced read. I loved the characters in this story. The Wanted Bride by Sylvia McDaniel is a totally fun read. Ms McDaniel has given us a runaway bride story that is well-written. Valerie set fire to the groom's corvette on her way out of town, had her wallet stolen on the bus and ends up stranded in Matt's small town. The characters are fantastic in this book. There is plenty of drama, humor and spice to keep the pages turning. I enjoyed reading The Wanted Bride and look forward to my next book by Sylvia McDaniel. This is a complete book, not a ...more

Loved this story, feel good easy reading romance.

Valerie escapes from a potentially horrendous marriage and runs away from everything she'd ever known. After climbing off the bus in the back end of nowhere she starts to realise what is important in life and allows herself a fresh start. The town's lawyer is suspicious by her presence and sets about finding out more about her and finds that they have more in common than he thought.

Needs desperately to be edited. Did NOT like this one. There is a lot of repetition: "he was repelled but couldn't keep his eyes off her," "she refused to get involved with another lawyer." Penis as attraction barometer . Fooling around, kneading to achieve a "beaded" breast, loads of innuendo, and a full-on play by play 75% in. Returned for content.
