I was delighted with this book, which is part travel guide, part memoir, and completely entertaining throughout. With humour and astute observation, author Amanda Spottiswoode shares her adventures and mishaps cruising British Columbia's coastal waters with her partner and their two Jack Russell Terriers. The enclosed illustrated maps are absolutely fabulous. This is a book which will receive much battering when I take it island hopping with my own two dogs (hopefully soon!).
At the age of 13 Amanda was taught to sail by the Royal Navy on the river Thames and has been a keen sailor ever since. She is now co-owner of “South Islander”, a 34-foot wooden sloop, and has been cruising up and down the B.C. coast with her husband and dogs since 1998.
