A Thousand Fiendish Angels is a collection of 3 short stories bound together by a book of human skin. Inspired by Dante's Inferno.
I'm passionate about writing and I love reading. My favorite authors include James Rollins, Jonathan Maberry, John Connolly, Daniel Silva, and I also read a lot of travel books.
This is a quick, dark read that conjures up all kinds of madness, visceral horror and disturbing imagery right out of the pages of Dante's Inferno. Definitely looking forward to the other two stories in the "Sin" series.
This was a very quick and oddly engrosing read. At only 13 pages it drew me in and by the end I was wanting more. surely this could have been a full length novel.
Short and sweet, 12 pages or so is an introduction to symbolism, myth and the wild creatures Dante encounters in the wood at the start of his Descent. This series was first launched in 2013 as first steps in a contest. Although the contest may now be closed this snippet of a book can still be obtained free at Kobo.
As a contest this may be great but a so small a story leaves too much unsaid and too many questions unanswered to satisfy most readers. It does however give us a sample of the eloquence Ms. Penn offers us in her stories.
A mutilated corpse is found, a police officer investigate and finds a curious diary amongst the occult objects……spooky…..yep
Now I am curious to see what step two “Sins of Violence” has to offer…..stay tuned
The cover at this point has nothing to do with the story that I can tell, but it looks like some type of cat or dog creature. This is a very short story. It is very gross in the description of the dead body, but yet intriguing. It is like a car wreck; you know you shouldn’t stare but you keep on looking. It leaves you wondering what the deal is exactly that the author made and that the cop now wants. I won’t tell you anymore because you just need to experience it yourself. I'm not much into horror type stuff, but I want to see what happens so I will keep reading. I stumbled onto this story because Kobo is having a contest. This story is free, and you too can join this contest here (http://www.kobo.com/thedescent?utm_so...)
Free Kobo download. Short story about a man who sells his soul, dies, and the stupid cop who, despite the many warnings, chooses to do the same. I was disappointed because there was so much left unsaid. The author really could have expanded on the idea and created a best seller rather than just describing one event in what feels like the middle of the story.
Well that was short and sweet. Really no need to make it longer, you get the gist of it right away. But there were still to many questions left unanswered. Any story needs a start, beginning and end. There is no end. What did he wish for, I want to know. Lol.
I read this as part of the contest a while back. It was a very interesting read. I think the reading community needs more short books like these. It makes for very good light reading.
