Den første historien, En annens hustru og Ektemannen under sengen var opprinnelig utgitt som to separate noveller, men ble senere slått sammen til én av forfatteren selv. Novellene som følger er Jul og bryllup, Polsunkov, Herr Prokhartsjin, Roman i ni brev og En ærlig tyv.

Many literary critics rate him among the greatest authors of world literature and consider multiple books written by him to be highly influential masterpieces. They consider his Notes from Underground of the first existentialist literature. He is also well regarded as a philosopher and theologian.

Min først bok av Dostojevskij, og jeg er glad det var en novellesamling. En underlig bok om rare mellommenneskelige forhold og kjærlighet. Komplett omtale av boka ligger her:

A collection of short stories, of varied quality. They all have some point, but with Dostoevsky - he takes his time and dialogue to get there, event when it comes to short stories. Some were good, others just ok. Maybe a good starting point into Dostoevsky to get a small mix to familiarize with his writing style.
