Spätestens bei diesem Band sollte es selbst der wohlwollendste Rezensent der Comickunst merken: Diese Reihe ist nur in historischen Rahmen verpackte Pornografie. Der Ruf der Borgias wird benutzt, um möglichst viele nackte, gut rasierte Geschlechtsteile in Pornoperspektive zu zeigen. Manara ist bekannt dafür, und ich frage mich, wofür er Jodorowsky brauchte, denn Plot hat diese Ausgabe von "Playborgia" nicht. Ich lese die Reihe auch nur wegen der Dialoge, garantie

O melhor volume da tetralogia até agora. A qualidade do desenho é excelente. O argumento é mais sobre as jogadas políticas, as traições e enganos da época. Se hoje nos escandalizamos com a situação actual do Vaticano, nestas obras revemos como era a situação na época do Renascimento.

This one is just as bad as the other ones. And they are all sexist and over the top. It's just too much. Again, I only like the artwork, but it's sad it is wasted on such a bad story. ...more

I can see why this series divides people so much. It’s as filled with graphic violence and explicit depravity as the page count allows, and Jodorowsky doesn’t care at all about historical accuracy. Manara’s art is beautifully rendered, and as always designed to be as wanton as possible. If it lacks the intellectual charge of Jodorowsky’s best work, it more than makes up for it in breakneck pace, savage humour and startling incident. Not for everyone - not for most people - but definitely for me.

Una perfecta continuación del tomo El Poder y el Incesto ya que mantiene el mismo nivel polémico en su guión pero con algunas adiciones de personajes como Carlos VIII de Francia, representado de forma detestable, y una serie de acontecimientos de lo más imprevisibles o un tanto absurdos que llegan a causar inclusive humor.

En cuanto al arte considero que los paisajes de este tomo son los mejores de la saga, algunos cuadros podrían enmarcarse y venderse como obras de arte.
