Route 66 reunions
These three contemporary romances spin such a web of past and present that it holds you captive till the very end. I really enjoyed reading about the three friends who's life took them on differrent routes but at the end brought them all back on mother road and back to God and their first love. While the characters are emotionally wrenched and are being tempted to go back into sin they stay firm on their straight and narrow path of Christianity -- I respect that very much in books. Nothing and no one is worth giving up God for.
It is really cold here in San Antonio so I'm having the time ever enjoying all these books by my fireplace..
Some books - and this triois one of them- just makes you want to snuggle by the fireplace with a cup a coffee and your nose deep in the book.
If you enjoy the contemporary romance and all the old love resurrection and ofcourse the famous Route 66, you will definitely love this book.

3 novels, each about a high school BFF who, while traveling on Route 66, reunites with their high school love who they haven’t seen in over 10 years. The basic plot of each and some of the elements (hint: they all involve children and a lot of misunderstanding) are the same, but I think I liked Sarah’s story best.
The reunion element cured the book of insta-love, but there was some insta-faith and insta-forgiveness.
For all the tropes, I wish Route 66 would have played a bigger element somehow.

My Thoughts About The Book: As a huge fan of Route 66, a hopeless romantic, an avid traveler, and as someone who has the dream of one day traveling the complete Mother Road I was delighted to review Route 66 Reunions by Mildren Colvin. Colvin's book was three very entertaining stories of boy meets girl, boy gets girl, boy loses girl, boy gets girl back with all the characters knitted together in a cohesive story. I loved all the characters and the stories made you mad, made you laugh, made you cry throughout. There were times when I felt such sorrow for the women only to find myself laughing at them minutes later. This is a fun and easy rainy day read. If you feel a draw to Route 66 then this book is for you.

Facing Tessa’s Past
Tessa Stevens is finally where she belongs. She’s placed her life in God’s hands and is the mother her three sons need.
On the eve of her thirtieth birthday, and her oldest’s fifteenth, they embark on their first family vacation.
A trip from their home in Amarillo along Route 66 to her hometown on Illinois. Her first vacation with her boys I’d only marred by the memories and secrets plaguing Tessa along the way.
Review: Facing Tessa's past is a cute book full of the message of God’s forgiveness.
It’s well written and interesting but felt a bit longer than necessary.

Redeeming Sarah’s Present
Sarah Maddox is still reeling from her past. She doesn’t regret giving her son up for adoption, there was no way she could have taken care of Trey back then, but, she does regret giving her heart to Trey’s father, Kevin. He didn’t love her back and she’s closed her heart of to everyone since.
Until she runs into Kevin, literally, as she meets Trey on his eighteenth birthday and realizes that maybe she hasn’t closed her heart off… maybe she’s just been waiting.

Review: Redeeming Sarah’s Present is a terrific read. I love the way the joys of adoption and parenting are interwoven in this book. Yes, it’s romantic, but more than that it’s about growth in ourselves and in God. There is an awesome message of salvation contained in these pages.

Grade: A

Building Amanda’s Future
Amanda lost her husband and child in a devastating blow five years ago. She’s finally managed to put her pieces back together and move forward. Then she runs into the first man she ever loved. The man who broke her heart and watched her walk away. But, he needs help and Amanda wouldn’t be Amanda if she wasn’t there.
Review: This book is slower than the other two but, there is a greater message. It was sweet and talks of forgiveness but, really, it’s not as interesting as the others – except for the message.

Grade: C
Ages: 16+

Hott Review:
I enjoyed this entire series. There were ups and downs but overall is is a great book. There is a great message of forgiveness and finding Christ on these pages.
I think, overall, what I didn’t like is that at times the connection to Route 66 seemed forced into the story.

3 novella stories of six people when very young teenagers made choices which lead to circumstances of hurt. The stories are about second chances after finding God and being able to forgive and set about restoring former relationships with good outcomes. Route 66 has its place in the relationships also.

Three romance stories in one book, though predictable still a delightful read. Lots of emotion, breakups, and reuniting.

I received a copy of this book free from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
