This book is a total game changer when it comes to making Dua and developing ones relationship with Allah. The authors use of personal experiences as well as perfectly selected real life stories enables the reader to have a practical understanding of the application of the techniques and this for me made the book very relatable, easy to understand and incorporate into my daily life.

The author employs straightforward language and a writing style that simplifies complex narratives, making them accessible and enjoyable to readers. I absolutely loved this book and I highly recommend it to everyone, Muslim and non Muslims alike, young and old. There’ s a is benefit and wisdom for everyone.

At the end of each chapter the author guides the reader on making Dua by providing examples and actionable steps to follow. Usually with such books you are left thinking so how do i do this? Aaliyah tells you exactly how. So many times in the book my heart was beating fast and I broke down in tears reading about my Rabb, He’s Names and attributes it was a very humbling and blessed experience. This book is not just a story of people’s lived experiences but also provides the reader with a feeling of a friend talking through shared experiences and thinking up solutions.

The power of Dua is a powerful book. Get your tissues ready as it’s an emotional ride. I got to understand myself better, and learnt to be kinder to myself and more grateful to my Rabb. Best of all the book describes my Rabb in words I’ve not been able to articulate myself and emphasises on just how much our Creator loves us and cares for us.

I got this book at the right time when I was feeling low and generally overwhelmed with many things. The book provided me with the emaan booster I needed and reminded me to go back to my Rabb and rebuild my relationship with Him. A lot of the stories resonated with me and provided me with a lot of comfort, confidence and hope in my Rabb Alhamdulilah.

May Allah swt accept it beautiful labour of love from the author Aaliyah and may He reward her abundantly for it .

Aliyah has been the answer to many of my duas, and she doesn't even know it. This book is Allah using her for the third time in my life to answer my dua. I learned the power of dua from my late grandmother (May Allah have mercy on her) when I was 10 years old. She walked into the kitchen and proclaimed that we would ask Allah for some family matter that had been set in stone long before I was born. I remember asking her, "Why? It's impossible." She told me that nothing is impossible for God. I have lived by this idea since then, and this book came to me at a time when I was grieving the loss of my grandmother and other family members.

I never gave up hope on dua, but I was tired. This book is an answer to my dua, helping me understand why I was tired and how to overcome it. As I read page after page of Allah's mercy, answering duas and giving His slaves what they ask or saying no or delaying, I realized that my duas in the last few years have been delayed, contributing to my fatigue. I lost the emotional connection with my dua, and it bothered me. It's the first time in my life that it's happened to me. So I made dua, and I was invited to be an early reader.

Aliyah's book is a beautiful testimony of Allah's mercy and love for His servants. It will make you cry and release all your pent-up emotions. It's personal, raw, and real. Reading it has answered so many duas that I need to sit down and write them out to keep track. Yet, my big duas are not yet answered, and I am waiting. But reconnecting with myself and my duas emotionally because the echoes of the stories in this book (all true stories) have provided me with emotional motivation. They serve as a powerful reminder that Allah has not forgotten me!

If you have felt lost, hopeless, wondered if you're worthy, or feel tired like me, then please read this book. Get a special notebook to do the journaling exercises and make dua! This book has changed my life, lifted the full veil of tiredness, and reinvigorated my love and energy for dua! And my dua for you is to never give up on your dua, and for Allah to grant you all the best of this life and the next life. Ameen.

I did it! I finished reading @aliyah_ummraiyaan 's newest book: The Power of Du'a (and what great timing, too - we're still in the first ten days of Dhul Hijjah, the best days of the year for worship and du'a!).

Y'all know I'm not the fluffy Islamic content type, and Aliyah has won me over yet again. Just as with her first book, Ramadan Reflections, Aliyah brings good ol' classical Islamic knowledge and presents it to readers in a manner both easily digestible and relatable, and most importantly, practically applicable. (Perhaps a little too easily digestible at times - I found this book a little fluffier than Ramadan Reflections, and became impatient at being addressed as "Dear reader" constantly.)

Each chapter addresses an element of du'a - approaching Allah, having the correct mindset, good deeds to accompany du'a, and more - alongside individual dua stories, a "Develop your du'a" segment that includes practical tips on incorporating the chapter's suggestions, and "Allah, transform my du'a" with a written out du'a for you.

I underlined and tabbed numerous parts of this book that resonated with me deeply, and which I knew I'd be returning to regularly in my (many) times of struggle and need. I don't think I've ever tabbed a non-academic book this much!

I did find the book repetitive at times, and I wished that many of the du'as from the Sunnah had been written out in Arabic as well. Also, maybe too many baby-related du'a stories (okay, fine, maybe that's a me problem & y'all won't mind it).

Even so, I know that this book is incredibly valuable in making this topic accessible and applicable to so many readers who yearn to deepen their connection with Allah. 100% worth ordering for yourself & giving as a gift!

4.5/5 🌟

Subhanallah.

I’m at a loss for words on how to explain the power of this book. May Allah continue to bless Aliyah with the eloquence, wisdom, and knowledge to write such beautiful books.

I lost track of the amount of times I cried; each dua story hit me harder than the last. The Power of Dua is a merciful tool that every Muslim needs. I intend to re-read/listen to it regularly as there is no limit to the khair you can gain from it.

I was instantly drawn to this book. It reads as though a dear elder has sat me down, holding my hand and at times an arm around my shoulder, gently reminding me about my Lord and dua.

This book has been a brilliant reminder in how to get away from the robotic type of dua I became accustomed to. It resurfaced my belief that my Lord is always looking out for me and One I can ALWAYS rely on. I am once again in love with my Lord - a sweetness that cannot be described in words.

This book has meant I have developed a sense of continued calm and contentment, coupled with gratefulness in what I already have, without losing the beauty of asking for more.

This book consists of 4 parts. Each chapter delves into a particular topic, a profound dua story is shared, followed by questioning prompts to slow you down and internalise the subject you have read about. There is also a sample dua in each chapter to help in producing your own heartfelt duas.

Each story shared has its own effect because I could relate to each story either from my own life or the lives of those closest to me. This style of storytelling made me reflect on my own relationship with dua, and the Duas that have manifested and those that haven’t and the beauty in both scenarios. I sat with these stories and the prompting questions for hours, peeling layer over layer from a rusty heart.

It’s like the penny has dropped with this book. The author has dived into topics ever so sensitively yet so deeply, hitting the heart at its core. Be prepared to have your heart shaken and your emotions awakened!

I’ll be sure to read this book time and again InshaAllah and I’m sure you will absolutely enjoy it just as I have!

I wish my teenage self could have had read this book and thanked Aliyah for equipping me with the tools to bridge the distance between me and Allah. As a teenager you struggle because you think no one understands you and this book will let the vulnerable teenagers know, Allah is All Hearing and Seeing and encourages the teenagers to go and speak to Him.

The early adult me would have thanked Aaliyah for writing this incredible book as it would have served to curb my anxieties of the future. Aliyah walks you through; how to make dua and shows you how to let go of all the insecurities and chaos that comes with adulting. Aliyah shares real life stories in  the Power of Dua to inspire you and realise how truly Allah is All Powerful and has your best interest at heart.

My present self (wife, mother, career and in mid life ) thanks Aliyah for writing this book, you have inspired me to realise the truth behind the Power of Dua. Firstly, I have learned the best practice of supplication ; seeking forgiveness, showing gratitude and sealing the dua with Salawat.

Secondly, the book has encouraged me to make dua for everything big and small and has consequently helped me build a better relationship with Allah as I'm constantly talking to Him.

finally, this book has taught me how to let go and leave it in the hands of Allah.  knowing He will give what is best for me and as result I'm content in that realisation.

This book is for everyone and a must buy. I have gifted it to myself, friends and children.

I loved this book.
It is easy to read and full of personal stories that will touch your heart. The stories will make the book personal to you as you will recognise yourself and your family and friends in them. They are stories of need and hope and trust that Allah will answer.
These stories will give you the confidence to step out and make dua like you have never done before knowing that anything is possible with Allah.
I love the way Aliyah Umm Raiyaan has weaved the stories with her beautiful commentary on different prayers and when to use them.
This beautiful book can change your life. I encourage you to read it.

I have had the privilege of being an early reader, and it has been a real blessing.

This interactive tool will direct you and ignite a new love that can not be expressed in words.

The beauty of this book is that it won't age. Even though our needs and wants evolve with time, the need for dua doesn't change. You can revisit and reignite.

How you reignite could be the relationship you have with your lord, or yourself, or even both.

Personally, I have been struggling mentally and lacked motivation with life and day to day tasks. This has been a companion that has held me through a very dark time, and I honestly believe it was a gift from Allah.

Be open and ready to cultivate positive change, and rest assured it is an invaluable investment for you in this dunia and akhira inshaAllah.

And! With Ramadan drawing closer, this is the perfect opportunity for preparation and reflection. I highly recommend it.

(tr is below)

this book… i’ve been thinking about duaa so much lately. praying has always been a tough one for me – mainly because it wasn’t something i grew up doing regularly, and i struggled a lot to understand why we pray.

but one day, in a halqah, the moderator said something that completely shifted things:
“when you go into sujud, that’s when you can talk to Allah. make your duaa there.”
so i tried it once. and subhanallah… i could literally feel a shift in how i connected with Him.
even though i’ve slipped many times since, i now realise that every time i come back to prayer, it’s because i miss communicating with Allah. and that realisation has been huge for me.

in that same halqah, the moderator (she is amazing honestly) introduced us to the idea of the dream duaa, something she learned from Muhammad Alshareef. we even did a little workshop on how to ask Allah better. and what blew me away was… most of us didn’t know how to ask.
we were so hesitant, so doubtful – always like “but how would that even happen?” so we didn’t ask at all. how sad is that? as if “how” is even a concern for the One who creates everything.
realising that honestly embarrassed me. so i pushed myself.
i told myself, “elif, dream big. ask big. don’t think about the how. Allah opens doors.”

and the names of Allah –asmaul husna– they became a big part of my journey too.
i don’t know all 99 deeply yet, but i’ve got a solid connection with 10 of them, and i’m trying to grow that, inshallah. i also started asking Allah for small things. there’s a hadith that says even if your shoelace breaks, ask Allah. and i realised… everything is His. He is al-Malik. prayer and duaa – that’s constant connection. that’s how you get close to Him. that’s how you learn tawakkul. becoming a better muslim starts from that point.

i actually first saw this book in a tiny boutique near the cambridge mosque. i took a photo of it to remind myself to buy it, because at the time i couldn’t cry, couldn’t make real duaa, and i knew how important tears were. alhamdulillah. then out of nowhere, it got published in turkey and a publisher sent it to me as a PR gift! i was so touched.

and the most beautiful part? i later found out it was written by aliyah from honest tea talk! what a beautiful tawafuq that was.

so yes… this book feels like a summary of my whole duaa journey. that’s why it lives on my bedside.
aliyah collected such powerful stories. i cried. the way she paired āyāt and hadith was so on point – they really pierced the heart. it took me a long time to finish because i wanted to feel every page.
but it was so worth it.

5 stars. hands down.

5 starred!

A book to take your time with and spend time implementing.

I originally wanted to whizz through this book, but after the first chapter, I intentionally slowed down and savoured a leisurely pace.

The mix of personal stories and theory was a great way to illustrate the focus of each chapter, and I appreciated the scaffolding from one chapter to another.

Several stories moved me to tears and left me in awe as they affirmed the mercy and kindness of Allah. Each chapter was a proclamation of 'Yes, He can do that for you, too' — even if the challenge or matter is dissimilar to personal experience.

This is a book to dip into when you need a reminder and a refresher of the beauty and the gift of du'a, and one to not just read when times are tough, but when you're in a chapter of flourishing, too.

Where do I start?! When I first came across this book, I had actually started another book on the nuances of dua. Even though I was a born Muslim, I don’t feel that I ever really developed a connection with the concept of dua the way that I have now. Probably because of the fact that a lot of concepts get lost and culture gets mixed in with things, it’s been difficult for me to navigate the space between what to ask for, how to ask, whether or not I should even be asking! This isn’t to say that I haven’t experienced depth in dua before, and alhamdulillah I have been blessed with my own personal miracles…but I know that those were after desperate prayers when I felt helpless, and it wasn’t something that I confidently knew how to replicate for other things, or other challenges.

So I was reading another book on dua, because I was actively looking for my dua to be transformed, and although it was a brilliant book, I found that because of it’s lean towards theoretical principles, I was struggling to personally resonate with it. At that time, I was going through a particularly difficult time, and I wanted something that hit my soul, that I could deeply resonate with. Right in the middle of that feeling, I read The Power of Dua.

In terms of how the book is structured, it’s not really like any other book I’ve read before. It kind of takes you on a journey, one that I didn’t find to be linear, but it was definitely all encompassing because it introduced me to concepts and things about Allah swt that I never knew. I appreciated the mix of personal stories, theoretical explanations and guidance on how to practically apply these concepts into your life, so that’s its not just a mindless exercise - it’s hitting all of the points that are needed for real shifts in your life.

Each chapter included a personal story that I felt were well selected. I didn’t find these to be just simple anecdotes; they were real life examples of how dua has transformed the lives of everyday people. There were so many different examples illustrating different facets of dua, from minor every day challenges to more serious ‘asking for a miracle’ type things, and because of this, I see it that everyone reading will be able to take benefit from or resonate with someone’s story.

I found myself feeling as though the book was speaking directly to my soul at times. Some of the insights were so profound that I’ve included them in a quote book I’m writing for my daughter to pass on valuable life lessons to her when she grows up.

This book came to me at the perfect time, which feels like a blessing in itself, because as I was going through my own challenges, it was as though I was being guided on: what I need to say, what I need to do, what I should be asking for, what I should be focusing by Allah swt through Aliyah’s words. It was, and to be honest, still is, really humbling to see how I was being presented with blessings and my duas were being answered in real-time while I was reading through the book. It’s actually something that I’m still struggling to wrap my head around even now, that in such a very short space of time I’ve developed a connection with Allah swt sincerely deeper and stronger than it’s ever been, and I credit this book in being a massive part of that.

In ‘The Power of Dua’, the author has captured in a powerful way the strength, support and resilience one gets from dua to go through this life. This book will give hope, life and joy to anyone- whether you are enjoying life relatively calmly or going through a powerful storm. As I read the book, I felt myself being calm and serene, for the Most Merciful, the Owner, the Lord of the Worlds is my Lord. How can we despair when we have such a Creator- Ar Rahman- The Most Merciful. Aliyah has captured this in her writing with her beautiful command of words and the weaving of the many aspects of her writing.
The book will become your companion and friend – helping you to navigate the ups and downs of life, masha Allah. Aliyah’s voice is so soothing and authentic, and you will return to the book over and over again.
I love the merger of real life dua stories, Quranic ayahs, hadith, sayings of predecessors and the guided dua section. Each page, chapter, section and story has so much to offer to the reader. The duas’ of each Prophet an what they went through- even though they are the best of Creations- leaves the reader feeling so hopeful and seeing life as it is truly- a means to acquire the akhirah.

Aliya has articulated into words my feelings, thoughts, and experiences with dua so beautifully. Allah has blessed Aliyah with an amazing talent of expressing and using words that really touches and captures feelings and thoughts. Thank you, Aliyah, for this book. A book that will truly, God willing, help so many in their lives. May Allah accept it from you and make it heavy on your scales- Ameen

Such a beautifully written book. An easy to read and relatable book. Dua is so important but it's written about with some passion that it makes you want to jump to prayer mat and make sincere dua.

It really does feel like the author is talking directly to you and it feels so sincere and so heart warming too.

I loved the format and absolutely loved the stories too - there was quite a few that really resonated with me and motivated me too!

Before I even finished the book I had ordered a copy for my two sisters and then another 10 to give out to close friends. Ensure you have sticky notes as this is something that you will refer to a lot!

I look forward to reading it again during Ramadan and gifting it too :)

A compelling invitation to connect with Allah through the gift that is du’a.
Aliyah Umm Raiyaan weaves together beautiful stories about answered prayers with the Islamic etiquettes of du'a in this powerful book.
Each chapter seamlessly builds on the other and creates a structure for the best ways to approach your Lord when you are in need (and which one of us isn’t constantly in need of Him?).
As someone whose love language is du’a, I can honestly say this book is a must-have for all Muslim households.

Hard to rate a book like this, so I’ll leave it unrated but I will be recommending it to friends and family and picking it up as a gift for those close to my heart.

I started it in Ramadan at the start of the year and it’s been my most gentle reminder and companion throughout the year. When I’ve found myself unable to formulate a thought or dua, this book has guided me and given me the words. It’s reminded me of the gift of dua and the etiquettes and best examples. I’ll be returning to it often.

The Power of Du'a reads like a personal encouragement from a caring friend, to make changes in how you pray, or even how to make steps towards prayer. I don't think that anyone who reads this book will put it down unchanged. I found myself turning to it again and again as a source of comfort. The author has your best interests at heart, that you gain a stronger connection to the Lord of the Worlds. Whether you're a Muslim or not, this book can change your life and your relationship to the One who Created you and Who is just waiting for you to come close through the power of du'a.

loved this ramadan read! i enjoyed her ramadan reflections book last year so i was excited to found she wrote another, especially since her focus on du’a was my favorite part of her other book! i loved her emphasis on putting ur trust in god & the universe that ur prayers will always be answered with a yes, not yet, or something better or what u truly need- it couples well with working hard in ur manifestations and being humbled to ask the god & the universe to help u where u r helpless!

she integrates people’s crazy personal stories to their du’a being answered in big and small ways which was my favorite part! ☪️
