This is how I experience my life. I’ve hidden behind my camera and viewed the world through the lens. I’ve given up on my dreams, and sheltered my heart from love; because both have given me nothing but pain. It’s better to be safe, than to take a risk and have your life

Jet is a stuntman. A true rising star in the business.
He lives for that adrenaline rush, that makes him feel alive, to feel a purpose in life, to feel is good at something.

Above all he follows his motto "FEAR NOTHING"...

The thing about Jet is that he is a survivor.
His childhood was filled of so much hurt and pain...

A stunt man who enjoys pushing things to the limits and a photographer who prefers to live the world through what she sees in her lens find out that though love has it's risks, it might be just what they need.

The blurb caught my attention, but I confess that it wasn't in a good way. I saw a lot of angst in those first person point of view blurb thoughts and I wanted to back away. But obviously I didn't and I'm glad. This was an emotional read, no doubt, but it was a triumphant read, too. I was

Fear Nothing

A really interesting book, fully loaded with emotion & drama. Both the main characters have issues and throughout the book these cause some turmoil. It is at points quite sad and I cried a few times. I really liked the book, even the parts of the story that made me angry. The love between the characters is a fast paced affair, with very little preamble.. this normally would be an issue for me but i felt the connection between them, it was believable because of this.

This book had me at the prologue, after reading I knew I wasn’t going to be able to put it down.

A beach read

Highly predictable but a beach read was just what the doctor ordered for me. I enjoy Shannon Mayer's Rylee Adamson series because it's just so crazy, it works! So, I thought I'd try her romance novel. Easy, simple and predictable but sometimes that's just fine :)

My Thoughts:

Before I began reading High Risk Love by Shannon Mayer, I was hoping for a good story. However, what I got was a great story that exceeded my expectations! This New Adult Contemporary Romance was told from the dual perspectives of Jethro (Jet), and Jasmin (Jazzy). I was equally horrified, and mesmerized by what I read from the very beginning of this story. Jet was beaten as a kid by his father. By beaten, I mean mutilated, sustaining scars all over his body, broken ribs, cuts,

After her brother died she managed to rake quite a lot of debt and with the help of a friend she managed to get a job as a interviewer for a magazine Wild Child. Jasmine's first assignment is to

I thought of holding off on my review until tomorrow, but no, I'm going to do it now. I'm going to write it while I'm still feeling every emotion and it's still super fresh. I have no idea how to sleep anyway right now. I need to be coherent and short, okay. So, here we go.

This book blew me away. I was crying within the first 5%. That's a new record, the earliest I've ever cried in a book. Shannon Mayer makes you feel it from the

Ok someone please, please tell me that what I just read is meant to be a cliffhanger. I'm actually begging at this point. Ms. Mayer please say that you plan on making this a series. Actually, not only do I need more of Jet and Jasmine, but I

This is one fun and entertaining read that I finish in less than a day. Is a story about lost, haunted past, how to live your life, let go of your fear and embrace the future.

The prologue was pretty heartbreaking and really got to me. We were given glimpse into Jet's ugly childhood at the hands of his abusive father. Then we move to Jasmin with her brother who had succumb to cancer. The scene where her brother, Ryan told her before his last breathe make me cried so hard. Mine you, I'm

This is the first opportunity I’ve had to read Ms. Mayer’s work and I enjoyed it. Although the premise of one, or both, of the people in the romantic relationship having a deep secret they don’t want to share isn’t new to young adult or new adult genres, I did like how the “secrets” were used and how the protagonists covered-up or handled them. It was a somewhat new approach.

I like how Jasmin sheltered herself from the world using her camera. By looking at the world through the camera

Oy!! Shannon Mayer made me freaking cry. I loved High Risk Love so much. Genuinely beautiful it didn’t pull punches with all of its content. Her first foray into the New Adult genre and she did an amazingly awesome job.

What happens when everyone you ever love dies?? Well, for Jasmin she doesn’t want to love anyone ever again. She lives a safe life, hiding behind her camera and emotionally shut down from those around her, except for her best

This one started out well because the premise is very intriguing. The heroine is a photographer who gets a job taking photos of some hot shot stuntman- our hero. Both had big emotional issues. Heroine's brother died of cancer; the hero used to be beaten by his cruel father growing up. These two meet and the over the top flirty hero wants to get into the heroine's pants. She blocks him and takes down his ego a notch.

These two start to bond and share their life stories, and within a few days

High Risk Love

The only reason I originally purchased this book was due to the fact that one of my favorite authors wrote it. Normally I don’t read books that do not have something to do with the Paranormal genre. However, I figured since I love all of Shannon Mayers other works I would try this one. Boy…am I both surprised and amazed on this one! High Risk Love sucked me in just like all of Ms Mayer’s books! This book is about 2 people who have struggled through life with very different troubles

I'm not good with writing so I just say that I really liked this book. I couldn't stop reading when I started. I liked Jet and Jasmin. Also I liked Hugh and I want to get his story also. And Jasper's story.
I liked it, but there were some strange moments. The falling in love just in a few days and some other things. The end was happy but confusing.

I reviewed this book at MustReadBooksOrDie with my amazing friend Shelley. We like to talk to each other :D.

Shel: I knew as soon as I read the prologue for High Risk Love that I would have to put it down immediately or risk doing nothing but reading it for the entire day. So with a deep sigh I put my Kindle down and moved on to the tasks I needed to accomplish. Before I knew it my day got away from me and it was 8 p.m. before I could give this book the attention it deserved.

I've read a lot of books since my passion for reading was reignited last summer. I've read books about fighters, boxers, wealthy business men, race car drivers, professors, even cowboys but never a stunt man. So when "High Risk Love" was thrown my way by the author for an honest review, I thought why not. Let's see whether a guy that puts his life on the line for the sake of a good movie can get me a little hot under the collar. Well I can honestly say I wasn't disappointed.

Saffron - Talk about a prologue that grips you and reels you in! And of course, I cried!

Noemi - I was a mess. I really thought I was going to have to go to Costco for tissues.

Jillian - The prologue killed me. You two know. I read it and was like Oh My God that was one of the saddest things I've ever read.

Saffron - Thankfully the whole book wasn't sad!

Noemi - I second that.

Jillian - I was beyond happy when I started reading the book and found it wasn't a sad story but we needed to learn the sad

I originally found Shannon Mayer's writing through a happy accident when I stumbled across her Rylee Adamson series, which is urban fantasy. I quickly fell in love with her writing and characters and have become an avid fan, anxiously awaiting what she has to share with us. When I found out that she was writing a New Adult contemporary romance, I was beside myself with glee! She has become one of my favorite authors and I was so excited to see what she had to share in this genre as well. Let me ...more

Where do I start with High Risk Love? There were so many spectacular parts to this “could-not-put-down” novel. I LOVED IT much more that I ever expected.

First, the reader gets a bird’s eye view of Jet’s tragically abusive childhood, his perseverance to survive and admirable attempt to protect his brother. Fearing nothing, he leaves
There are some books that you read and you enjoy but then after you read a few more books the book that you enjoyed is kind of forgotten. Yeah....I don't think you have to worry about that happening with this book. Jasmin and Jet's story will be with me for a good long time. Mayer was able to take the age old romance formula and make it special and unique again. I'm not a writer so I'm not exactly sure how she did this but I do read a lot of romance and the ones that keep me reading long into ...more

A long time ago, in a galaxy far away, I was born into a family of Star Wars nuts. I have a lot of siblings (somewhere I lost count but I think there was more than could be numbered on one hand) and being one of the young padawans I was subjected to Star Wars marathons, on a regular basis.
