Some very moving passages about why and how rituals can be made personal and profound, and a clear and illustrative walkthrough of the Jewish year and all attendant festivals and holidays, but overall too conservative and WAY too Zionist for me. My ideal book would be this level of basic language but written by a pro-Palestine female and/or queer rabbi.

I went back and finished going through this. It seems silly to say I read it, it’s much like a textbook in that I read pertinent parts and skipped around and keep it on hand as a reference but I like it.
