What a fun book about a boy and his dog out in the snow. Reminds one of the joys of winter. I don't think anyone enjoys winter like children do.

Talking Points: I'd diffuse doTERRA's Holiday Joy essential oil blend. It's the perfect blend to bring more joy to the cold Winter months. If you don't have it, you could diffuse 2 drops Wild Orange, 2 drops Siberian Fir (or Douglas Fir) and 2 drops Cassia for a happy Winter blend.

Tinka the dog has fun playing outside with his boy in the snow until another dog named Millie shows up and then they run off to play. Tinka gets lost but there is a happy ending when the little boy finds him and brings him back home. There are no more than three lines of print on each two page spread. Every line ends with the word dog and includes a rhyming word on each line. I really like the simple, colorful illustrations. I read this book to a first grade student that enjoyed looking at the pictures. This book could be used to locate rhyming words.

I thought this book was so cute. The book is great for children who are just learning how to read, I think that the use of rhyming was great in this book, and could be used in class to teach a phonological awareness lesson. The pictures in this book were cute, but I do not think that they made the story. If you did not read the story, I do not think that you would be able to tell what was going on by looking at the pictures.

(i say this a lot here on Goodreads, i did read the kindle version, but i don't see it available ...and the one didn't have a picture of the book cover, so i did jump over to this version, i love the book cover. but as i did say ... i read the KINDLE version.) great illustrations. so fun. it is making me think of another read ... i have check out recently with a similar dog ... racking my mind???! great fun.

This book is another book I wasn't really impressed by. It demonstrates a home-away-home plot which could be a teachable moment. It also has a lot of good examples of rhyming in it. If I were to use this book for a lesson I would probably use it to explain the concept of rhyming; however, I feel this book better belongs in an in-class library.

This is one my 3.5 year old liked from daycare and asked me to take out of the library so we could read at home. It’s such a solid 3 of a book. Decent rhythm to keep attention “Tinka is a snow dog, a go dog.... etc etc”, simple straightforward lost and found story, and nothing too memorable or offensive about the text. It’s just fine and it’s easy to read and sometimes that is great!

This picture book has a very fun rhythm and rhyme. The rhymes of the second-to-last word of every line give it a different and fun cadence. I also really appreciated the way the pictures told the story. Overall, quite a fun storytime book, that would also be a lot of fun with a young one on your lap!

What a fun romp through the snow with Tinka and her person! The rhyming text reads like the best of Dr. Seuss with sing-song rhythms that make this story so fun to read aloud. Adorable illustrations invite readers to engage in the action until it’s time to get cozy with the dozy dog at bedtime.

Snow Dog, Go Dog is a wintery rhyming tale of Tinka, “a play dog, a yay dog, a loves-to-romp-all-day dog.”
This will be a fun choice for our first story time of the year. There’s plenty of rhythm in the rhymes that match the playful illustrations woven across a winter backdrop, making is a great read aloud choice. Tinka and her boy have fun in the snow, until Tinka follows a stray dog too far and becomes “a sad dog, a feeling-bad dog, a wanting-what-she-had dog.” Kids will be in suspense waiting to learn if Tinka finds her way home again.
Fun descriptions and unorthodoxed use of compound descriptive words keep this book at a lively pace, and introduce new vocabulary words to the youngest readers.

Although this book is cute, it was unable to hold my interest past the first few pages because of the style of writing and lack of story line. Here is an example of one page: "A worry dog, a scurry dog, a searching-in-a-hurry-dog."
Every single page is written with descriptions of the dog in this manner. No one talks like this. The illustrations are adorable, fun and colorful. If it had a story line it could have the makings of a great book. You could consider this a wordless book with dog descriptions--many of which are hyphenated (a running-to-and-fro dog, a hiding-polar-bear dog, a wibble-wobble-spill dog).

Cute, cute, cute! A dog enjoys a snowstorm until he wanders away from home. These energetic rhymes work beautifully and capture the spirit of the story in a charming way. I especially like that the boy's family locates the dog in the car with a favorite toy -- that's how we used to get our yellow lab to come home when she took a neighborhood romp. Recommended for preschool, this is sure to be a fun winter read aloud.

November 10, 2014This is a short story about a dog that is excited about the weather, which it's starting to snow outside. The rhyming and and rhythm pattern is the same throughout, so it's easy to follow and read quickly but still be interested in what Tinka is going to do.

Every person has that dog who just means the world to them, and in this poetry book the reader will appreciate Tinka, the dog. The dog is as happy as can be when he is out playing in the snow, but when he goes off to play with a stray dog, Tinka doesn't know how to get home. Don't worry though; this 2013 story has a happy ending.

This is a great story of how a dog gets curious and wanders away from home but his owner eventually find him. I like how they showcase different ways to describe what type of dog he is. This can get students minds thinking of how to describe things. The illustrations are great, very colorful and vibrant.

With large font, simple sentences, and rhyme on each page, this is a great choice for readers or listeners with a shorter attention span. Illustrator Bowers did an excellent job bringing expression and movement to the characters. This is a fun winter book.

A great rhyming book for children five to eight, Snow Dog, Go Dog shows just how much fun a boy and his dog can have in the snow. The kind of fun that makes you tired and ready to sleep at the end of the day!
