This is a great book for anyone new to the sport. Being fairly new to golf myself, forgive me if this is a bit presumptuous, but I feel this could help some golfers with specific shots.

The layout Vivien Saunders uses in this book makes it very easy to find the advice you need with a specific shot or concept. Each section contains text to explain the concept and great illustrations to picture the concept. She also gives a brief explanation of handicaps and score cards, the different types of play, and competitions.

Finally, and probably most important for the brand new golfer, are the sections on golf etiquette and terms.

The title of this book covers a wide range of topics, while the contents follows the same topics of most golf self-help books. The bulk of the handbook is devoted to how to use your clubs and swing advice on setting up your shots or getting out of handicaps.
The extra information includes the history of golf, the evolution of clubs and golf balls, golfing greats (both male and female). Competitive golf games and etiquette are mentioned, but there is no information provided on repairing divots and ball marks.

Слегка устарелый контекст про доделки инвентаря своими руками, но принципы игры переданы основательно. Разобраны основные моменты, положения, ситуации. Классные фото. Книга из прошлой эпохи, которая не теряет актуальности.

I found The Golf Handbook to be very informative and helpful to someone like myself who has recently picked up the sport. I actually recieved the book as an unexpected gift from my mom for my last birthday and to be quite honest, had no intention of reading it due to my competitive nature and male tendency to want to learn on my own. After playing all summer and now on a regular basis, I soon learned to take in all the advice I could get, whether it be from a more experienced player or in this case, The Golf Handbook.

The author of the book, Vivien Saunders, was a former golfer and wrote the book as a self help guide for a wide variety of people whether it be someone who's never played before or an experienced player who is finely tuning their game. The book is very structured and it is very easy to find exactly what it is you want to improve on. The book covers everything from the history, to all-time greats, to flat out learning how to play. Though I took my time reading the 244 pages, my main focus was more on the "how-to" section. The how to section starts with the grip, the stance, the backswing and the follow through, something that helped me out greatly due to my old horrible beackswing, however, it has been tweaked and is now a bit more orthodox. Another section that has significantly helped my game is course etiquette. Golf etiquette is very different from many other sports because it requires you to be quiet and stand still while someone else is taking a shot. This is strange to me because generally when an opponent shoots in any other sport, their is no similar rule. I've actually noticed that I get irritated when people talk or move when I'm teeing of, it's very distracting to say the least.

Overall I really liked the book because it's very effective when I need to find something I want to fix in my game. The structure of the book makes things easy to find and the descriptions along with the illustrations makes the book very easy to understand.
