Like all of Aesop's other fables, "The Town Mouse and The Country Mouse" teaches a valuable lesson and has an overall moral as you reach the end of the tale. In this tale, there is a town mouse and a country mouse who are both cousins. The town mouse decides to visit his cousin mouse in the country. However, all he has to offer is bean, bacon, cheese, and bread. Although the food options are low, the food supply is high and the country mouse knows he will always be able to get these four specific ingredients to suppress his hunger on a daily basis. The town mouse isn't that thrilled and decides to take the country mouse into town to show him what "real food" tastes like. There is pastries and a variety of food, so the two mice decide to dive in. Meanwhile, dogs come by and try to steal the food. With the dogs being so big, they scurry back and forget about the food. They realize that it's better to be secure with what you have and always will have than to try to get the bigger and better things in life and not always have access to it. This fable's main moral is it's not about getting the best things, but being happy what you have. It teaches children to not be greedy. Personally, I have never hated one of Aesop's fables. They are classics and can be passed down from generation to generation.

Who wants to work that hard for food? Right, not the country mouse who will go back to his enjoyable scraps rather than always running to find the indulgences that the city mouse enjoys.
