When Jean-Pierre appeared at the gate in the late afternoon of my arrival, we immediately embraced each other. He knew what I expected of him—namely, that I hoped he would relate the whole story to me. I found the slightly bent-over eighty-seven-year-old Trappist monk in good spirits. The witness of the last monk from Tibhirine is a moving story when the interviewer lets Brother Jean-Pierre speak.

And yet, there was

This is a fascinating story, but as some of the other reviewers have commented, you really need to see the movie Of Gods and Men beforehand. Unfortunately I did not, so many of the details of the story were lost to me. I do plan on seeing the movie asap.
