This hardcover memory journal offers a beautiful place to record a mother's life experiences-family history, childhood memories, lighthearted incidents, cherished traditions, dreams and spiritual adventures for her children to treasure.
A very nice padded, hardback book, that you and/or the women relatives/friends write down their experiences and opinions of their whole lives.
I purchased 4, one for me; my mom; step m-i-l; hubby's grandma-so far, I've only received back the one from hubby's grandma. I'm still working on mine. My mom passed away, without giving her copy back to me-step dad got rid of everything that was hers. Step m-i-l divorced f-i-l & probably through it away, b/c it had to do with our family. My hubby's mother died, before I met him, so didn't have the chance to get one from her. Her mom is the one who filled the book out.
This has been a favorite for many, many years. In 1998, I spearheaded a project at a local nursing home, where the staff assisted the residents in filling in the book to be gifted to their families on Mother's Day. This activity was precious, and everyone enjoyed the journey. I bought it for my Mother and Grandmother, who gladly filled it in for me. This is a powerful momento that will only be more cherished as time moves on.
I gave this to my mom in 2000 and she wrote in it for a whole year (questions for each month) - I just re-read it and it is truly priceless!!! I highly recommend the process - you will learn a lot and have some great stories!
So, my review is of the potential of the book. The version I read was written by my grandmother. She crossed out the questions she didn't like and wrote her own memories when she didn't like the questions. But it was a great way to get her thinking about the different kinds of stories to tell us. It was really fun reading her humor and silliness again. This book brought her back to life. I would love an option to let me add my grandmother as the author of this book since it was her story I was reading.
Reflections from a Mother's Heart: Your Life Story in Your Own Words is a must have for every mother. If you are a mom, fill one out for each of your kids. If you are the child, give a copy to your mom before it's too late. It is filled with questions you may never have thought to ask. And then you will have this treasure for the rest of your life. Be sure to have some tissue on hand.
