G-Man #2

Love Plus One

Rate this book
A year ago 19-year-old Lindsey Dennison's life took an abrupt turn. While away at Cornell for her freshman year at college, her parents' marriage imploded. Lindsey learned the harsh truth about her father, and his involvement in criminal activity. He'd slipped out of the country with his lover on the eve of his arrest, deserting his only child. Lindsey was left trying to pick up the pieces of the life she now realized had been a house of secrets and lies for all of those years.

After her mother's second marriage relocates her from Indianapolis to Washington, D.C., Lindsey decides to start fresh at a new college closer to where her mother, step-father and baby brother Bryce are now living. Life is different now for Lindsey, but it's about to change even more. Trace "Taz" Matthews, an FBI agent is about to rock her world in more ways than one. Taz is a confirmed man-whore but Lindsey has a problem she's certain he can fix . . . but will he?

Despite their best efforts, Lindsey and Taz are tossed together by fate on more than one occasion, and this G-Man doesn't appreciate the distraction. Issues at home with her mother suddenly cause Lindsey's life to become increasingly complicated. There's a budding romance on the horizon for Lindsey with a wealthy and attractive guy she meets at school; but things are never quite as they seem. Lindsey will learn a brutal lesson about trust, compassion and strength. Taz will learn lessons about love, intimacy and honor, and that sometimes doing the right thing has consequences.

This book is intended for mature audiences.
Warning: Explicit Sex, contains rape scene.

★★★★! Love Plus One, book 2 (stand-alone). Bad boy biker, Taz’s and Lindsey’s story of sexual play gone serious set against the suspenseful unfolding of danger and intrigue!

“I’m not looking to get hurt, Taz. I’m just looking to get thoroughly f~cked.”

Love Plus One is second book in the G-Man series. Though each book has its own hero/heroine I recommend they be read in order:
Book 1: Diamond Girl
Book 2: Love Plus One
Book 3: Night Moves

Love Plus One is Taz and Lindsey’s story, told from both of theirs POVs. We met them both in Diamond Girl. Lindsey is Sammie’s daughter and bad boy biker, Taz works with Slate.

The story picks up about a year after the ending of book 1. Lindsey and Taz keep running into each other and both have an attraction to each other, but age difference and circumstances have them reluctant to admit or act on it. When Lindsey meets a preppy guy at school who she hopes to be dating she feels she is in need of some improved bed skills. So she turns to Taz for some instructions. The story goes from there following them in their budding romance while villains from their past and book 1 continue to haunt them.

 photo SmithLoveplusoneHerobySueBee_zps71235278.jpg

Five words to describe Taz Matthews: sexy, possessive, bossy, reliable and real.
“He was studying me now with those gorgeous, green bedroom eyes of his.”

 photo SmithLoveplusoneHeroinebySueBee_zps356b86d8.jpg

Four words to describe Lindsey Dennison: spunky, endearing, naive and annoying.
“Lindsey was beautiful and cute, innocent and sexy, sweet and a smart-ass. That was what fascinated me so much about her. She was multi-dimensional, yet not complicated.”

As mentioned, though each book has its own hero/heroine and a happy ending, there is an unfolding mystery that carries on through the series.

Warning! I feel the need to warn that there is a rape scene (by a villain) in this story.

On a happier note I am pleased to report that Trey Sinclair from the Baby series makes an appearance.

Andrea Smith’s witty writing has always clicked with me. In this book I rated her story-telling at 4.5 stars. Half a star was deducted because Lindsey’s POVs were at times too long-winded. Taz’s POVs were perfect!

My reason for not rating it higher more ties into plot and my own preference for larger-than-life heroes. Taz and Lindsey a both very real and tangible people.

Sexy and suspenseful! Overall a great read! Thanks Ms. Smith!

“It was new territory for me sexually, and for Taz, it was undeniably new territory for him emotionally.”

4.5 I want Taz to call ME his 'baby girl' STARS

"I'm not looking to get hurt, Taz. I'm just looking to get laid."

She was a fucking contradiction in terms. She was soft and sweet; lusty and sexy; reserved and abandoned at the same time.

Well, it's official my friends; Andrea Smith has a new stalker auto-buy fan in me. While I really enjoyed her Baby Lite series, this book pretty much blew it out of the water for me. I thought I knew what I was in for, I though I was prepared for what was coming, boy was I fucking wrong! But before I get into all that, let's talk about a few other things.

While I have not yet read the first book in this series (something I will be rectifying immediately), I had no issues understanding what was going on. I knew right away when I began reading that this book was going to be right up my alley.

I mean let's see...
Sexy bad-boy, slightly assholish and manwhoring hero:
Said hero also having tattoos:
He was a sexy as hell FBI agent:
Heroine that I didn't want to strangle:
A fantastic plot:
And enough steam to feel like my reader was going to catch on fire: YUP!

A year ago, Lindsey Dennison's life changed irrevocably. Turned out her father was not quite the man she always thought him to be. She had to deal with the fact that his criminal activity had led to federal bust, and then his ultimate run from the law. Her parent's marriage is over, and her mother is now married to the FBI agent responsible for the investigation.

Her mother never even hinting to having the problems that she was having in her marriage certainly hasn't helped with the shock that Lindsey has been dealt. But she's trying to deal with it, to move on with her life. So she focuses all her energy on her first year of college. She's not looking for happily ever after, she just wants to finish school and begin her career. There's just one pesky little issue that she'd like to deal with before all that; losing her virginity.

But Lindsey doesn't feel that way. She's not looking for rainbows and unicorns and a happily ever after. She just wants to get it over with, and who's better fit for the job that her step-father's sexy partner, Trace "Taz" Matthews.

Taz is not into relationships. He likes his sex hot and dirty, and he likes his women disposable. He's 10 years older than Lindsey and he knows that his partner and best friend's virginal step daughter is definitely off limits.

But there's just one problem to his plan to stay away from her; he can't seem to stop thinking about the little spitfire.

So they come to an arrangement. Taz will help Lindsey learn all she needs to about sex, and then they will both move on without looking back.

But things never quite work out the way you plan them, and Taz and Lindsey find themselves dealing with what looks to be a budding relationship.

I really liked that the progression of Lindsey and Taz's relationship didn't feel rushed or forced. Even though it might have been lust at first sight, both Taz and Lindsey struggled with their feelings, and it took them some time to deal with things.

As I've come to associate with Andrea Smith's books, the story was filled with steam, action, suspense, and twist and turns. Just when I thought I was OK with how things were developing, and thought I knew what was coming Andrea went and swept the rug right out from under me. HOLY FUCKING HELL! When I got to the 80% mark of this book...I have no words.

I'm pretty sure it was just

Shortly followed by

And after just left me

Please be warned that the book has a . If you are not comfortable reading that, I would advise against reading this book. The last 20% will leave you reeling.

Was this book perfect? No. There were times where I wanted to slap some sense into Lindsey, and times where Taz did or said some things that had me shaking my head. But something about it just worked for me. I loved it. And now I am eagerly anticipating the 3rd book's release in December 2013.

But that is all the ramblings you'll be getting from this girl for now. I'm gonna go read me a sunshine and rainbows book next to deal with the 'HOLY HELL DID THAT JUST HAPPEN' last 20% of this book. And I thank you

Andrea Smith.

You know what I love about Andrea? She’s has a very traditional romantic style of writing. This is someone who knows how to give you one hell an HEA, but who can also twist the story into something that’s completely erotic and sexy at the same time! She not just like, “…And then they lived happily ever after.” Andrea’s style is more along the lines of…

 photo download2-21.jpg

And then they live happily ever after.

I LOVE it!

 photo download9-4.jpg

And then there’s Taz.
He’s this story’s “alpha” guy.

 photo download-36.jpg

He’s also in the FBI.
And he has a really BIG…

I’m not goin’ to lie to you:

I love Taz.
He’s my absolute favorite in this book.
I kind of want to have his babies.

And Taz is introduced to us in this story via Lindsey, the heroine. See, Taz works with Lindsey’s step-dad… so they’ve all known each other for awhile. But at the beginning of the book, Taz and Lindsey are kind of thrown together in a rather unfortunate/hilarious/sweet incident.

That’s when the ball really gets rolling!
*You’ll see.* ;)

Because things begin to really spark between these two. And that’s another thing that I loved about this book: the sexual angst! MY GOODNESS! It was awesome… because these two characters are attracted to each other, but Taz is really hesitant because Lindsey is the daughter of his boss… and she’s also a virgin.

And Taz is kind of fucking *amazing* in bednot a virgin.

So what’s a girl to do?

She offers him one hell of a proposition.

 photo download10-3.jpg

His answer?

 photo download11-2.jpg

And I’m like:

 photo VbvKAxH.gif

And that’s just a taste of it. ;)

Because all too soon… just when Lindsey’s about to walk away so she can make sure her heart’s intact, and simply shake Taz’s hand for all of his “tutorials”… something happens.

And it forces these two even closer together.

Because, now, if Lindsey ever has the chance to walk away from Taz…

She may not do it alive.

So it’s up to Taz to make sure that neither of those things happen.

That's all

4 Girl Power and It Could Have Been 5 Stars

description

At first look, 19-year old Lindsey Dennison, has it all.
A loving family, money, success, boys at her feet. She should be contented and happy but she isn't.
The last year, turned her life upside down and most of the days she isn't sure if she wants to get up from her bed.

description

So, loving family.

description

Her parent's sham of a marriage, collapsed. Her father is a criminal and cheating bastard on the run, her mother after a stint as a pole dancer, married the leading FBI investigator of the case and they are raising a son. Cool? Not so much....

Social life.

description

When your father is as mentioned above a criminal and you mother is forced on bed rest, then you leave your friends and college behind to care for everything. And you are doing it smiling...

Boyfriends.

description

Boy, you are so wrong.... A string of failed relationship, (one even turned gay), an unswiped V-card, a rich, creepy college boy and her step-dad's best friend who might be a man-whore but he is definitely her dream/G man.

So what is a girl to do? Take it all in stride and look amazing while doing it...

description

Taz, has a plan. Finish college, join BAU, be the best damn FBI Agent, screw around as much as he can. All his big plans fail big time when he meets a pair of green eyes. The only catch they belong to his best friend's step daughter who is also a virgin. There goes his plan of an all-sex-no-strings-relationship. What is a bad-ass, tattooed FBI agent to do when love is knocking on his door? Pull his head out of his ass, answer and protect what's his, forever.

description

description

Funny and fast-paced, exciting and unexpectedly dark and heart breaking (there is one brutal scene that is a tough pill to swallow, consider yourselves warned!), this book is way better and make much more sense than the first. Hawt couple and funny banter, kept my interesting throughout the story and KUDOS to Andrea Smith for managing to handle a difficult situation with care and sensitivity. My only problem? Again Lindsey's mother, a little wee bit of dragging in the middle, I was waiting for the rat bastard to make a special guest star appearance and the only one who didn't see the villain coming miles away was our naive Linds. In all, this book in my opinion, even makes the first one more believable... And I really liked the afterthought that is still lingering in my mind:

Andrea Smith is an author to watch out for! I am really hyped for the next...

Love Plus One is Lindsey (Sammie’s daughter) and Taz’s (Slate’s best friend) story.

Lindsey is 19. She used to have a seemingly perfect life... the last year or so her life has been turned upside down. All the drama with her father, her mother getting pregnant and remarried to a younger man... it’s been a lot to deal with. She is happy her mother is happy, but Lindsey herself is not so lucky in love. After a string of unsuccessful relationships, she just wants to find someone to make her feel good. She is a beautiful girl, but still a virgin. She is looking to change that.

Taz is a hot, sexy and sweet FBI agent. His career is his life. His first and only priority. He has big dreams. Dreams to join the BAU and he’s doing all he can to make those dreams a reality. He doesn’t do relationships. Period. He does no strings attracted sex. The woman know the score upfront so it’s all good.

On the night of Slade and Sammie’s wedding, Lindsey gets a little drunk and Taz takes care of her. He is seriously the sweetest guy. Taz is very attracted to Lindsey, but she is very off limits to him. She is his best friends step daughter, and several years younger than him... but he can’t get her out of his head. Taz is about ready to say screw it and get her out of his system, then he finds out she’s a virgin and can’t do it. He doesn’t want to hurt her.

 photo 777a037c-1344-4d1a-9046-91a190addebd_zps40b1cccc.jpg

Lindsey and Taz together... they’re smokin hot! I love the connection and chemistry they have. The longer they’re ‘together’ the more their feelings for each other start to grow. Taz is feeling things for Lindsey he’s never felt before... will those feelings be enough to make him a changed man, or will he be happy doing the NSA relationships forever?

Taz and Lindsey’s relationship is the main part of this book, but there is also a lot of other things going on... We get a good look into Sammie and Slade’s life, there is some drama, mystery and suspense. There were a few twists and turns that shocked me and just a heads up, there is one pretty graphic scene that was difficult to read.

I enjoyed the first book (Diamond Girl) but in my opinion, Love Plus One blew it out of the water! It was funny, sweet, sexy, suspenseful, and fast paced. I loved Lindsey, and I REALLY loved Taz! Every time he called Lindsey ‘baby girl’ I melted a little! The writing was great, and the best part is that a good bit of the book was in Taz’s pov! Score! Overall, a really great read! Looking forward to the next book in the G-man series!

Please do take the content warning above seriously. I missed the warnings when I read this and I was really shocked at how dark this one got – it absolutely wouldn’t put me off because I am a huge fan of dark and angsty but I wouldn’t want this to hit anybody’s personal triggers without fair warning.

So, now we have Lindsey, daughter of Sammie from Diamond Girl, who is at college and desperate to get her V card stamped. Taz, who works with Slate who is now Lindsey’s step-father is deeply attracted to her and the feelings are mutual. Taz is married to his career and only indulges in casual hook-ups with women – he refuses to get involved with them and Lindsey is desperate to lose her V-Card and thinks Taz is the man for the job. Taz knows that Slate is going to be most seriously displeased if he deflowers his stepdaughter but he’s finding her harder and harder to resist!

God, I couldn’t stop thinking about her. It was driving me nuts. It was as if her face, her body, her voice, her hair, her scent, the taste of her were all imprinted on my brain like some primal connection that I couldn’t shed.

I so enjoyed this one. I liked it better then Diamond Girl which I did really enjoy. Taz is a great hero and I developed quite a crush on him while I read this one. He’s one tough alpha, he’s bossy, demanding, protective and absolutely drop dead gorgeous. He’s an experienced man and he knows how to make things sweet for Lindsey and they really did light up the pages of my Kindle with their passion which burns white-hot!!

Lindsey is all kinds of naive but as she lays in bed listening to her Mom and Slate get down and dirty in the room above, she knows she is missing out and has her sight set firmly on Taz. She’s a bit of a sweetheart who’s been dealt a rough hand after the events of Diamond Girl and she really needs someone who will be there for her but Taz is determined not to be that man – determined that their relationship will remain purely physical.

BUT, as events set in motion in Diamond Girl and old and new villains rear their ugly heads, this one takes a far darker twist as Lindsey will find herself in extreme danger and Taz begins to realise just what she means to him but will it be too late? The following quote is from Taz’s POV.

I felt something wet running down my cheeks. It was foreign to me, and for the first time ever, I froze. I couldn’t move. I couldn’t speak. My heart had died inside of me.

We have alternating POV’s from Lindsey and Taz so we get to hear what they are both thinking as the plot develops and I thought this worked really well – I very much enjoyed getting inside Taz’s head. This book as erotic as the cover art promises which plenty of sexy action to keep you happy, there’s a pulsating suspense plot which will have you completely engrossed as it reaches it’s conclusion and, of course, a beautiful love story and a slow awakening for Taz as he learns, albeit very slowly, what is really important to him. We also get to catch up with Sammie and Slate from Diamond Girl as they also have more than their fair share of dramas to deal with in this one.

Great erotic romance with a real page-turner of a suspense plot.

"So, you think we're on the same page then?"
"Yes, I do."
Well, baby girl, I'm here to tell you that you don't even have the correct book opened."

I was a little too broken up to rate and review this last night. I needed some space to think. I'm going to not do a recap of the blurb and just try to explain my rating.

First of all, I think that this book is the most well written book that Andrea Smith has written to date. My issues with the sex scenes were almost nonexistent. Taz and Lindsey were so very natural together...their intensity and the sheer magnitude of the initial JOLT of awareness between them was explosive. They knew each other a little bit but due to the crazy happening around them and age difference, it took a special circumstance for that explosion to occur. But boy, when it does...

I loved, loved, how Taz comes to see Lindsey as a well rounded, genuinely good person. Because she is.
"There wasn't a deceptive or calculating bone in that beautiful body."

She has lost so much of herself since her father's trip to the dark side. Her stability has been shaken, and yet she's still a positive individual, trucking along and smiling at the world. She loves her new baby brother, she likes her new stepfather Slate, and she's enjoying her time at college with her roommates Jill and Darcy. She also wants to get rid of that pesky V card.

"So," I started my stomach in knots from my nerves, "what's on the agenda, Taz?"
"We're going back to my place." he replied very matter of factly. "We're going to fuck."

Well, okay Taz!!

TAZ:
"His hair was sandy brown; thick and tousled like he'd just rolled out of bed. He had gorgeous green eyes and some stubble going on that made his perfectly chiseled features that much more appealing. (...) His right arm was beautifully tattoes from his shoulder to his elbow."

I think Taz was a great guy, albeit a bit underexplored as a person. We know how dedicated to his job he is...he's still taking classes to move up in the FBI, in fact. Yeah, studying is sexy, Taz! We know he is adamant about not getting into a relationship. This was very well done, imo. Taz really is clueless about his feelings for Lyndsey. But when he finally does start to admit to himself that she is different from all of those other girls, he tries so hard to be a good partner for her. He explains to her that he has no freaking clue how to be a part of a whole, and asks her to bear with him. I loved this side of him.
"I gazed over at her face as she slept. Lindsey was beautiful and cute, innocent and sexy, sweet and a smart-ass. That was what fascinated me so much about her. She was multi dimensional, yet not complicated."

Once he gets past the roadblock of Lyndsey's virginity, he enjoys the hell out of teaching her the joy of sex and pleasure. However, there is little to no background on him; his family is obviously brushed off as being "not close". That's a weird thing to do with a hero. As a reader, I want to believe in his loyalty, and I never got to that point with Taz. I did, however, get to where I knew of his devotion for Lyndsey. And I guess that's what really matters.

Okay...**sigh** my dislikes. I was fully prepared to go for a full fiver on this, but one horrific thing grabbed me down from my happy cloud; indeed, it pushed me off the cloud and my litter heart splattered on the ground. I had read the disclaimer about the rape scene but I'd like to make my own disclaimer:

This book contains a graphic, disturbing rape scene.

That's more like it. I do not read books with graphic rape. It's not a trigger, I simply don't want that type of thing in my romance book. Generally, I skip over the scene and continue with the healing and romance. But due to the nature of this instance, skipping and moving on wasn't possible.
Why? Why, why WHY? To be blunt, I don't want that shit in my romance books. Not only do I not want it, but it didn't FIT here. The overall tone of this book was much like Diamond girl...FUN, with a little bit of danger. When this instance happened, I lost all desire to finish the book. My happy romance turned horrific and tragic. Instead of remembering this book the way I'd like to, this instance is how I'll remember it.

Moving on. Again, I'd like to reiterate that I think this was Smith's best work so far. As I rated Diamond Girl according to my enjoyment of the story, I also rated Love Plus One according to my enjoyment. I'm still torn between 3 and 4 stars, so my rating may change. I loved everything about this book for the first 80 percent.
"“It was new territory for me sexually, and for Taz, it was undeniably new territory for him emotionally.”

EDIT TO ADD: I am READY for some retribution against the rat bastard. It didn't come in this book, but I hear through the grapevine that Darcy's book coming up next gives us some much needed closure there. Just fyi...

“What’s on the agenda, Taz?” “We’re going to my place,” he replied very matter-of-factly. “We’re going to fuck.” “Wait,” I sputtered, finally. “What?” “What part didn’t you understand?” he asked, glancing over at me”

My response to that was gimme some....PLEASE!!!!!

So I'm gonna start with the things I liked:

1. Taz was all kinds of hot!!! Yes, he was!!!!

2. Lindsey was a great I really liked her...she wasn't whiny she was fabulous! She knew what she wanted and didn't care who approved...mainly her mother.

3. I loved that Slate and Sammie were a huge part of this story but as side characters....they didn't over shadow the MC's.

4. The storyline is still loosely tied to the first book, so we get some closure there.

5. Of course we get a very sweet HEA:)

6. I love reading series with the same characters, I feel like I get to know them so I love it when they continue on with the books, as these characters have!

So that was my likes...now moving on:)

Things that were so-so for me:
Let me state when I say "so-so for me," it's just my opinion, it doesn't reflect anything towards the book..it's just a personal thing for me.

1. Lindsey needed her "V" card swiped. Now books about virgins hit a touchy spot with me because...well I know it's freaking fiction but dammit it should hurt and they shouldn't have an orgasm. OK maybe I'm mean because I want them to hurt and as I said it's fiction.

2. Well there was a scene in the book I felt a little uneasy about, it was a tragic horrible thing.....I can't tell you with out spoilering but it was just terrible. I typically don't read books with that in them so it took me by surprise. If you want to know what it is read the book;)

3. There was some medical things that went down....I'm a nurse so I hate reading about what I deal with everyday.

So those were my "so-so" moments....caused me a little shoulder shrug.

The book as whole was good! I'm glad I read it!!!!

I would love to get Taz alone in a room for about an hour or 2 because....

Happy reading everyone!!

Thank you Andrea for giving me an arc!!!

Lindsey def finds Taz aka Mr Trace Matthews very charming and sexy. They def have their chemistry going on especially after Lindsey's drunken stunt on her mother's wedding to Slate, Taz's partner.

How are these two gonna get around?

" So, what's on the agenda, Taz?"
"We're going to my place... We're going to fuck"
"Wait..... What?"
"What part didn't you understand?"
"I'm sick of having you under my skin, So, I intend to have you underneath me, on top of me, sitting on my face, but by God I'm having you under my fucking skin anymore. Period"

"Lindsey, I want you to go on the pill. Is that an issue?"
"I've never had sex without using a condom. I've never insisted anyone that i'm physically involved with get on the pill so that I could continue riding bareback"
"Are you saying we're exclusive?"
"How long does it take for you to get with the program, girl? "

4.5 "Baby Girl" Stars

Alert- I must recommend that if you haven't read Diamond Girl (G-Man #1) this story would be way more pleasurable if you started there. This is a continuation of Diamond Girl and those character are involved in Love Plus One.

Lindsey Dennsion - She was a fucking contradiction in terms. She was soft and sweet; lusty and sexy; reserved and abandoned at the same time. She is a 20 yr old sophomore in college whose life as she knew it has cease to exist. Her father is on the run from the law, her mother has remarried the FBI agent who is after her father, she has a new baby brother and to add to her topsy turvey life....she still has her V card and can't seem to get it swiped!!
 photo lindsay4_zpsbde8e748.jpg

Trace "Taz" Matthews happens to be Lindsay's stepdad's bestfriend and fellow agent. He is 8 yrs older and a bit of a man whore. He was sexy but soulful; a very heady combination.
 photo taz4_zps1425a8a9.jpg

These 2 have quite a sexual chemistry even if they aren't aware of it. Lindsey of course thinks Taz is sex on a stick but Taz thinks of Lindsey as a little girl. Ideas start to change when Taz has to take care of a drunken Lindsey after her mom's wedding. Lindsey is anything but a little girl!! Thus the dance begins.....

"So....... what's on the agenda, Taz?"
"We're going to my place...We're going to fuck."
"Wait...What?"
"I'm sick of having you under my skin. So, I intend to have you underneath me, on top of me, sitting on my face, but by God I'm not having you under my fucking skin anymore. Period."

 photo tumblr_lr183yLnp51qbkl8s_zps878bb80a.gif

There's a problem though, Taz doesn't do virgins and makes it clear to Lindsey when she tells him. Due to circumstances involving her father and his being on the run, Lindsey's life is under constant supervision for her safety. Anything suspicious has to be checked out and because Taz is Slate's bestfriend, he has to help with Lindsey's safety. Enter Kyzer Stanfield, fellow classmate of Lindsey's who also seems to be interested in Lindsey. When Taz sees this, he doesn't like it one bit. But Taz doesn't do relationships. Lindsey has a proposition for Taz...

"It's simple Taz. Teach me how to fuck. There are no strings attached. With everything that's happened recently, I'm finding myself drawn to Kyzer.....I don't want to come across as some 'bumbling' virgin when the time comes."
"I'm not looking to get hurt, Taz. I'm looking to get laid."

So the tutorials begin.......Taz is quite the teacher...
 photo tumblr_m1esriGaak1rsusrao1_500_zps563792ed.gif
So they begin a friends with benefits relationship.

Lindsey's college trek is put on hold.... Her friends with benefits situations continues but feelings are starting to develop for both Lindsey and Taz. In the mean while, sinister plots are starting to unfold and come forth. Lindsey's father is still missing along with his accomplice, Susan. The criminal investigation continues. I must say that the ending has a graphic scene that was difficult to read. I was very impressed that the character was able to over come what happened and come out on the other side, still strong and able to move on with their life. Andrea Smith did a phenomenal job with that scene and it's outcome!!

I must say that I loved Taz's POV. Overall, a wonderful and sexy follow up to Diamond Girl and now on to Night Moves!!!

This is Book 2 in the G-Man series....and it starts up about 2 years later from where Diamond Girl ended. You remember Sammie from the first book? Well, this one is about her 21 year old daughter Lindsey and Slate's BFF....Taz. Taz is 8 years older than Lindsey and he is kind of a no-strings, womanizer type who DOES NOT do relationships EVER.....until Lindsey comes along. Yes you guessed it.....the clothes come off and WOW to the ZA!!! I'm really loving this series and it's awesome to see what the characters from Diamond Girl are up to. Now on to read the last book....NIGHT MOVES x

5+++++++ amazing Stars!!!!!!!

This book was brilliant. I would say this is a masterpiece for Ms. Smith. The writing was superb and the story was the best. I loved Taz and Lindsey. I am not one who gives long reviews but I can honestly say I know a good book when I read it. This is a wonderful book and one that I would suggest everyone read. I would suggest you read Diamond Girl first so you can follow the story. Job well done Andrea!! Loved it!

4 Macho, G-Man, Sexual Awakening Stars * * * *

Love Plus One, G-Man #2 is the next part of Andrea Smith's popular series. She has introduced characters which have experienced much in their short time with us and we, as readers, have taken an interest. Although the books can be read as stand alone; I personally feel through my completing this engaging story it was enhanced with my prior knowledge of Diamond Girl G-Man #1.

Here is the blurb:

Also please be aware there is a very graphic rape in this story.

This tale of Taz and Lindsey was a winner for me. It had heart, desire, understanding and growth.
Lindsey is going through the loss of her father.
Yet she is not allowed to morn.... he has betrayed her
He has abandoned her.... he has made everything she believed in false.... and it has made her doubt herself.
She has been a child free to grow up trusting in the good of others, slightly naive but with enough intelligence to be strong when hit with difficult challenges. She encouraged her Mom to develop her own self worth and was accepting of the new relationship her mother found with Slate.
Yet with all of this strength for others, she has her own self doubts... she has no success like her friends in the man department... all of the potential boyfriends end up as insufficient candidates to give up her Vcard. So somehow, Lindsey thinks this is an obstacle....

And then there is Taz. Sigh.....

Slate is Taz's superior and also best friend. They worked together undercover, followed the drug and money laundering trail causing Lindsey's dad to flee the country. Slate has known Taz since FBI training and the bond is "Bro tight". They have worked together, trained together….. and they have Man-Whored together.

This brings to where things change for Taz and Lindsey. They are at Sammie and Slate's wedding; Lindsey feeling alone. She is having a bit of a pity party for one with her friend, Champagne. As she downs flute after flute, Taz sees her and decides to intervene. He takes it upon himself to get her home but Lindsey’s stomach decides to evict her Champagne friends all over his truck. He goes into caretaker mode and takes her to his apartment. He gets her stripped, showered, changed and tucked away in his guest room for the night.
Little did either of them know what a turning point that would be for the both of them.
He sees her as more than Slate’s stepdaughter.
He sees the beautiful woman she has become.
She feels the stirring of the possibility of Taz…. She wants him to see her as more than a girl…. She wants to be that beautiful woman he sees.
She plants a kiss on him as she leaves in the morning that rocks his world.
From that moment, this story is “game on”.
Now it is important to mention, these characters are very frank in their sexual ways. It isn’t all romance and soft kisses. The way it is presented is very direct, kinda one or two words direct… but it works and we experience some of the hottest sexual interludes, with delightful dirty talk and actions… with really, really wonderful results.
Because even though Taz is represented as a Man Whore… boy, did he ever redeem himself. His development with her and as a person was the best part of this book. We took that journey with them together and it was worthwhile.

Now not everything in the story is all tied up in a little bow… this is a book with parts that are not easy to handle. There is a graphic rape and unfortunately it is an important part of the story. There is also the question of her father and whereabouts.

This was a strong read with great results for the series. We were able to connect deeply with all of the characters and felt closer to them as a result. The secondary characters for this part were introduced with enough detail for us to wonder what will happen next to them.
There is no cliffy for Lindsey and Taz, you will not be left on the brink; however, I am thinking Darcy, Lindsey’s girlfriend, was set up to continue with this group. We shall see what happens with her, in Night Moves, G-Man #3. I understand there’s some British bloke named Easton and he seems to have a certain way about him…..

5 million stars!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE, LOVE PLUS ONE!!! Andrea has hit it out of the park with this one it is a wonderful addition the the G-Man series. We meant Lindsey and Taz in book one. We had more background information on Lindsey than Taz seeing as book one was about her mother and the demise of her mother and fathers marriage and the building of the relationship with Slate than we did on Taz. But we learn all about Taz in this addition.

I love the way the author builds Lindsey and Taz's relationship. They start off as a no strings attached sort of relationship, after all Taz does NOT do relationships! And where Lindsey is concerned she does NOT see Taz in any way other than for sexual purposes. She needs Taz to take care of that pesky virginity card that she is still carrying around at the age of 20 almost 21 and she knows Taz is not relationship material anyway. She just wants to learn a thing or two so that when she does find that perfect guy that she will not be a fumbling virgin not knowing what to do. Well after some convincing on Lindsey's part for Taz to take her virginity he finally gives in and does just that. Well as we all know things don't ever turn out that way when people just set out on a no strings type of relationship someone always falls for the other. Well in this case they both fall together. It was a beautiful thing to watch develop. One major thing that I absolutely LOVED is that we did NOT get that break up part that happens at the end of most of the books we read just for them to realize they love each other and come back together just in time for the end. However in this book what we got was a major tragedy in the form of rape and it is not pretty at ALL. However it is NOT overly graphic and it is not long and drawn out. And they have to deal with the fall out of such a tragic event but they never break up as a matter of fact it just makes them stronger. Everything you look for in a great book are all there in this amazing book. There were moments that were sweet, loving, sexy, funny, some mystery and some alpha maleness and soem OMG WTF moments! It just has everything! So another words quit reading my review and get this book, the book that has everything you look for!

**After 2nd Read**
I still love this book and am sticking with the 5 star rating. I usually like funny books, but I really do like this one. The story is a bit darker than I usually like. The was a bit heartbreaking and as a warning for those with triggers there is rape involved.

Wow!!!!! I'm conflicted with this rating. 4.5 or 5 stars.

I loved Diamond Girl. After reading that book, I kind of put Andrea Smith a pedestal.

I have found another favorite author!! YAY!!! I love, love, loved both of these books and can't wait to read more of this series and other works by Andrea Smith.

I read Diamond Girl (book 1) in the G-Man series and stayed up till 4:30 in the morning to finish it because it was too fantastic to put down. Then I started reading book 2, Love Plus One and stayed up again till the wee hours of the morning. She does such a wonderful job at story telling that you can completely lose yourself in these characters.

Oh, and fina-fucking-lly an author who's heroin actually has her period. Not that she had pages of descriptive discussions about it, just that it was happening at that time. I think this is the first book I've read where it was written in such a way that it is exactly how we would bring it up to our lover or friends. Out of all the books I've read, I'd say maybe in less than 10 has it ever been mentioned. I know these books are fiction, but even in fantasy land I want some semblance of "this could be reality".

The only downside for me was that she describes Taz and other characters as vocal during sex but we don't get many good, down and dirty examples. Although the sex scenes are hot, I wanted more dirty, filthy, sexy talk especially from those two alpha bad-asses. Come on Andrea, I know you've got some dirty bird words for us.....;-)

FYI.....

While sitting in front of the computer after some four loads of laundry from the sick boys, I was pointed out by a friend that I never reviewed this book. She was reading Diamond Girl and asked if the photo on my review was really me...yup...in one of the moves that I longed to achieve. So I made a note to sit down and write a longer review for this book. We did an interview with Andrea Smith for the release of this book and it was really great to do something different to help her launch this book.
Truth be told, I fell in love with both Slade and Diamond in G-Man #1, but Taz was the ultimate "bad-boy man-whore" who loved living the life, living the dream. Perhaps there are men out there that love the thrill ride of danger and walking the line-cop or criminal. Taz is one such guy. He is hawt, sexy, dominant and way to "mature" for Lindsey.
With every encounter, Lindsey is falling a little bit more for her new step-father's partner, Taz. Unfortunately, he wouldn't notice her if she was on fire, since he is older and way more experienced. Looking for a reason to get blotto, Lindsey sneaks a few drinks at her mom's wedding and of course Taz comes to the rescue.
I liked the internal battle that Taz seemed to battle. He knew that he wanted Lindsey, but he also felt like he was not enough for her. I loved watching Lindsey draw out the Taz she saw and believed in and as these two come together, they both escaped their "preconceived" ideas of each other and allowed something great to come out. This is not to say it was an easy road...which is what makes the romance and the happy ever after so much sweeter.
On a side note: cannot wait to find out what becomes of the Rat Bastard and his whore! Check out this series, you will not be disappointed!

Old notes:
Okay...want now...I fell hard for Taz in Diamond Girl!!!

who super rocks??? Andrea! That's who!

ARC coming my way...will keep you all informed via status updates!

Wow!!! I am really loving the G-Man series!! They just keep getting better and better!

If I thought that I couldn't love this story more than Diamond Girl's story of Slate and Sammie, imagine my fucking surprise at how over the moon I now am for Lindsay and Taz!! So much so that I finished it practically in one sitting!

At first I had a little issue with this smoking hot guy with a stupid name like Taz, but I quickly got over it! We met Lindsay in Diamond Girl, she is Sammie's 19 year old daughter and Taz, who is Slate's FBI buddy, and consequently a tad older than Linds at 28. Who cares...age is just a number, but then there is the issue of Taz being a bit of a man whore and oh yeah, Lindsay still having her pesky V card!! :)

Lindsay offers herself up to Taz and he accepts until of course he discovers she is a virgin and declares there is no way he is going there! Breaks her heart a bit but Lindsay is a tough chick and picks her self up and moves on. Go girl! But life constantly throws them together until there is no denying there is something between them that they can't ignore. Soooo...some hot sex and dirty talking later, they are making it work!

However, being that her man and her step-father are FBI you know there is some suspense/drama thrown in there. It's a good idea to read Diamond Girl before this one so that you are better able to follow the story and the drama that unfolds. In the end, Lindsay is kidnapped and horribly brutalized before Taz can get to her, which of course is when he realizes that he is madly in love with her. No worries though, as always(well mostly) a HEA is delivered!! We have to wade through some pain and heartache first but it all works out...or so we believe! I know there are more to come in this series and still some loose ends left out there so I guess we will have to wait and see how it all ends!

I will definitely be right there to get me some more smokin' hot, dirty talkin' G-Men!!

4.5 Hot G-Man Stars

Lindsey Dennison has had a hard time of it since her father took off after they found out he'd been using his position at Banion Pharmaceuticals to distribute drugs illegally. Her mother has fallen in love, married and had a child with the FBI agent, she met while they were both undercover and living different lives, now living in D.C. Lindsey has moved colleges to be closer to her family.

Something has changed for her Lindsay though. She's got an awful crush on her step father, Eric Slater's, partner Trace "Taz" Matthews. Taz is a hound dog. He only has sex for sport and relieve an itch. He doesn't do commitment, so when he finds himself attracted to his partner's twenty year old step daughter, his first instinct is to stay away. But he can't stop thinking about her. When he decides that they need to have sex to get it over with, he discovers something about Lindsey, he just can't handle.

Lindsey realizes she will never be with him and decides to give her friend from college Kyzer Stanfield a chance. Taz doesn't like this at all. His instincts tell him that something is off about Kyzer. But, Lindsey doesn't heed his advice, drawing her into trouble she never saw coming.

I realize Lindsey was young and inexperienced, but she did everything that Taz told her not to do, which led her into danger.

Taz and Lindsey were hot. I felt bad for all the things she had gone through and thought she was a really good daughter, step-daughter and friend when it came down to it. She was willing to put her life on hold. And when she was down and out, Taz did the same for her. Showing that he loved her and always wanted to be with her.

It was sad and sweet all at the same time.

I'm truly looking forward to Night Moves .

Minor spoilers included due to story line carry over from the first book, Diamond Girl.

Lindsey hasn't had the best luck with men, after a man that she loved unconditionally turned out to be a fugitive. If her instincts were that off with the man that raised her for the last twenty years, how could she trust her gut when it came to a man that would one day share her bed?

Trace “Taz” Matthews has everything he thinks he needs to fulfill his life. A career that is everything to him and willing warm bodies to share his bed for a few hours, when he wants it. He never thought he would want more.
But when Lindsey’s innocence and sexiness catches his eyes the attraction is far too strong to ignore. He wants her. He wants to fuck her out of his system. But it isn't as uncomplicated as it sounds. Lindsey is not only a handful of years younger than him, inexperienced, but she is also his best friend Slate’s step daughter.

Taz has to fight his urges when he learns that Lindsey’s not the co-ed sex kitten he envisioned. But when events unfold that lead her straight to his door, a no-strings relationship is formed. Taz isn't worried about becoming attached and as for Lindsey, she just wants to get over the awkwardness of gaining experience with a man so she can be prepared for a real relationship.

Well you know what they say about best laid plans…

Love Plus One picks up right where Diamond Girl leaves off and the Susan & Jack fiasco is far from over. But things get a bit more complicated when it turns out there are far more secrets that are to be discovered and people who are still searching for the answers to those secrets. Lindsay is caught in the cross-hairs, with not just one G-Man there to look after her, but now she has Taz. But sometimes even the most protected can become victims.

This series thus far has been absolutely fantastic. Edge of my seat from page one until the last. There is such a great mix of suspense, mystery and romance that you are completely sucked in instantly.

Andrea Smith has created the perfect cast of alpha-males that have you begging for them to piss on your leg and claim you as theirs.

Although Slate remains my favorite between him and Taz, there was something that was just breathtakingly sexy about this man. I am a complete sucker for the man that is so set in his single ways but sets his sights on what he wants and goes for it. I am a bit torn as to why I can’t settle on a complete 5 stars for this. It had the right amount of heat and some very unexpected emotional moments that usually do me in completely. For some reason though once we hit the emotional points in this story my mind completely shut itself down. I did not want to experience it for my own self-preservation perhaps.

In all this series is shaping up to be a wild ride that I have no doubt that the third book is going to be fully to blame for my lack of sleep tonight, because there is no way I am not starting it as soon as I finish this review. Andrea Smith’s writing is strong and her story lines are flawless. There are so many things woven together that rely on keeping the facts straight, which she does effortlessly.

If you love strong characters, romances that have a suspenseful twist and hawt sex scenes; I highly recommend you check out this series.

4.5 Taz's Baby Girl Stars!

What I would do for Taz to say "hey baby girl"...just one time! Whew! I really am loving Andrea Smith and this series! I was intrigued after book 1, but now I am caught completely.

Lindsey Dennison

She has survived the lies her life was built upon and is determined to find her own way. She is captivated by her mother's new life and romance...hoping one day she will finally get to experience real love..hell she would settle for just cashing in her V-card!

Who better to teach Lindsey the ropes of intimacy than the so very well rounded Taz?

Um, yes please, sign me up!

Just sex, no strings works great for both...well that is until Lindsey's life seems to be at risk and Taz's mind cant stop wanting more!

I was so totally rocked by the book! I loved Taz and Lindsey's connection and easy banter...I will admit that Lindsey's age showed at times and I wanted to yell "grow the hell up!" I was a bit shaken that the 29yr old bad ass G-man was so taken with this naïve 20 yr old..but hey, that's what made the story right, I mean, You know what they say...Age aint' nothin' but a number...

In the end I was surprised that this was so much darker, harsher, brutal. This had the angst turned up big time! I also thought the H and H had a much more emotional connection than in book one! So Kudos Andrea Smith...I am moving on to book 3!

5 STARS!!!!

*ARC provided by author*

Andrea Smith does it again! She is definitely one of my favorite authors and I am so glad I found her.

I love this series. I am completely connected to every character and totally committed to their stories. Andrea's writing makes her characters seem like real people and I feel like a fly on the wall watching in awe. Her books are always full of erotica, angst, suspense and humor.

"Love Plus One" is awesome. I loved Taz and Lindsey in the first book and adore them now. Taz is a hot tattooed woman-magnet FBI agent, who is dedicated to his job and doesn't want a relationship. Lindsey is his best friend's step-daughter and has had a lot of recent heartache. He is older than her and has a man-whore reputation. After fighting their attraction to each other, they give in and have a clandestine "fuck buddy" relationship.

As their feelings for each other grow, so does the suspense, with really great plot twist. And Taz does not disappoint; he is a tough sexy alpha male. He reminds me of Kristen Ashley's Heroes and I wouldn't want to cross him, but I would want please him *sigh*.

This book has a great HEA and NO CLIFFHANGER!!! (thank you Andrea) But I would recommend reading the books in series order, because they do build on past events. I can't wait for the next book in this series and look forward to more Taz and Lindsey.

Very enjoyable!! Lindsey is the daughter of Sammie from book 1. Fate has her crossing paths with one of the g-men and manwhore, Taz.

What I liked about this book was I thought it had the perfect mix of drama/smut/suspense. Taz was a delicious Alpha male and Lindsey was a very likeable heroine (except for one bit).

We're going to my place... We're going to fuck

There isn't much I can say negatively about this book except that I didnt read the rape warning in the blurb otherwise I would have been able to prepare myself better. Still, wasn't easy to read.

This book had great pace, it was steamy but had a great storyline going and of course most importantly Taz was hot. What more can you ask for?! Well worth a try x

I found this at the bottom of my kindle and picked it up again from the start to give another try. I didn't know about my previous one star rating. yeah, this is a one star read- maybe two considering I didn't put it down even though I was tempted many times. This is just bad writing mainly and was surprised to find out that this was not a first attempt at writing a book.

Quick Rundown: Chick is the daughter from the previous novel and as Chick gives a rundown of what her mother went through in the first book is a clue that this book is going to be fantastical- as in, not real. Keep reading and she hooks up with Dude who is subordinate to her G-man Stepfather and his best bud. Shit happens. A big WTF happens and in between a lot of really bad dialogue.

Characterization: There was a lot of telling instead of showing going on here. The chick is quite a contradiction- she's very naive and stupid but smart enough not to let herself fall in love too quick (that's about the only smart thing). Dude is pretty blah- stereotype bad boy turned good boy by good girl. These two MC's were given some unpredictable reactions that were more true to real life but they were told to the reader and not felt by the reader. The secondary characters were pretty boring and kinda pointless. Didn't even like the Mom despite her situation. The bad guy is completely predictable and I don't think the author even tried to hide their intentions.

Plot: This is what kept me reading. I was mildly curious as to what was going to happen though I had to start skimming about 50% through the book because I would have been completely annoyed by the bad writing otherwise. The big showdown at the end was a big WTF moment and the author hid nothing but it still didn't feel real. Even the aftermath didn't feel real. Just written so poorly. Spoilers at end of review in case you couldn't finish but still want to know what happens. Sex was kinda hot but I skipped all the ones at the end because I wasn't feeling it cause of how author handled all the trauma.

Writing: This is where the big problem with the book is and writing is kinda important in a book. Dialogue was just awful- no contractions, no slang-even mild slang so everyone came off like they were robots when talking. It felt like this: "I am going to the store now. I will return after I retrieve the items I need. We will discuss this situation when I come back. I will see you later. Goodbye, now." Not a direct quote, but that's how it reads. Everyone is this world says, "Yes" instead of an occasional "Yeah" or "okay" or even "Uh huh". Now, my sorority beat the "yeah's" out of me when I was pledging so it's habit for me to say "yes" instead but even I'm not that cold all the time. 90% of the dialogue was not realistic and it made me wonder if author/editors/beta readers even read any of the dialogue out loud. There were many inconsistencies and contradictions. Plenty of editing issues but not too many. I won't be reading any more of this author.

Overall: *thumbs down while farting through lips*

Love Plus One (G-Man 2) by Andrea Smith

4.5 stars!!

Wow, Andrea Smith just gets better and better with each book she puts out! My first foray into Andrea Smith’s work was the Maybe Baby series and I loved them and the leading man Trey Sinclair (who also makes an appearance in this book). Diamond Girl was the first in this series which gave us Sam and Slates story, this book concentrates on Sam’s daughter Lindsey and Slate’s partner in the FBI, Taz.

This book picks up where Diamond Girl finishes, Lindsey is back at college, Sam and Slate are back home with their little baby Bryce and Lindsey's dad is still on the run. Lindsey, still getting over the fact that this is the way her life as turned out throws herself into college, she just wants to finish and get on with her career. Having made friends on campus that are living the “full college experience” Lindsey realises that she has one left to deal with and that is her “V Card” she wants to give it up so it is all over and done with and no longer hanging over her. (Why I don’t know!!) Lindsey sets her sights on Taz as the man that can help her with her little problem!

“I’m not looking to get hurt, Taz. I’m just looking to get laid.”

Taz (real name Trace Matthews), I loved him, he doesn’t do relationships and Slate has already told him that Lindsey is OUT OF BOUNDS!! He has F Buddies that he uses to satiate his needs. Ask no questions and all that. He is also 10 years older than Lindsey and that to him is also an alarm bell, but there is something about her, he cannot stop thinking about her and he is drawn like a moth to a flame.

“So you’re just going to leave without saying good-bye? Damn girl, did you leave any money on my dresser?”

They come to an agreement whereby Taz will teach Lindsey everything he knows…this leads to said V Card disappearing but also feelings…feelings that neither of them expected or anticipated. It was a bit lust at first sight but it soon becomes clear that there is a lot more to their relationship and soon they become the most unlikeliest of couples. I must say though, it worked, I felt it and I loved the way Taz went into protection mode with her. She needed it in more ways than one and thank god he did think outside the box!

“Don’t be crude? Jesus Christ, Lindsey, dude’s toes are going to curl when he hears how crudely you talk when you are getting your nut.”

This book has it all, hot hot hot scenes, plot twists and turns, suspense, angst and most of all “shock factor”. Just when you think all is safe and the world is rosy, Andrea throws in a huge curve ball. There is a really distressing scene in this book, which I cannot say else it would seriously spoil the book, but if you do shock easy and are uncomfortable reading about certain things tread carefully. It was done sympathetically to the story and really reached inside and pulled your guts out and twisted it into knots. I killed me, seriously!

There are still things left hanging in this book so I cannot wait for the rest of the series. I really want to see certain people get their just desserts. I am glad that we still saw more of Sam and Slate and I love the way that each characters story is continued.

Fab job Andrea, can’t wait to see what comes our way next…am loving the G-Men!

I ran into 3 VERY tired overused plot lines which are my pet hates and that was it for me. Story is shit.

First, the sleazebag h bangs another female (to get the one he wants off his mind of course) - I'm so sick of this bullshit line. He tried that with me I'd beat him up. Dirtbag.

Example: " I had been on a jack-off bender for three weeks. Even having Roxie over for a nightly fuckfest hadn’t offered any relief from my thoughts and mental pictures of Lindsey. " ... yeah, real jerk off.

Second, the h gets raped. Completely fed up with this constantly being used these days in these types of stories. I do NOT want to read about a h getting raped - it adds NOTHING to the storyline. Try and think up an original plot instead.

Third - another brainless doormat heroine who just accepts the dickhead H in all his CHEATING ways. SO OVER THIS. And it really PISSES me off, that she has no problem with this loser screwing the other chick for weeks on end. Seriously?
