A True Princess is special because she is the daughter of someone special. Everything she does points back toward her Father. If a princess acts recklessly, it isn't just her reputation that suffers. The honor and image of the throne is at stake. Help girls understand that their sense of entitlement won't get them anywhere in the kingdom of God. Humility is essential, and True Princess will guide girls in grades 6-12 through Scripture as a group and individually to help them understand the importance of living as a daughter of the King. I used this book to lead a bible study for middle school aged girls of mixed denominations. I thought it was pretty good. The girls has lots of opportunity to look up many verses and grow comfortable using their bibles. There was a lot of focus on serving others and modeling Christ which was excellent. This was a bit of a longer study so the girls were supposed to use the book three times per week, which is a fair amount of homework. We skipped pages 63-65 due to content and age.
This book reminds girls what it truly means to be a child of God: we are princesses. But, that doesn't mean that we are pampered, self-serving royalty; no, we are servants to God and to others. This six week study teaches that we are daughters of the King of Kings, worship a powerful God, are called to live a life of humility, pursue the things that last, be an ambassador of the gospel, and lay down our crowns at God's throne.
I really enjoyed doing this study with the young women at church. The study encourages girls show humility by serving others and thinking of others more than themselves. It also teaches girls that they are ambassadors for Christ, and their job is to be sharing about Him with others. Great message for all in these pages!
