Ian covets the title The Best Lover in London and enthusiastic Bella is just the woman to assist him. A secret note promises she’s eager to join in their evening of wicked delights, a masked contest against other couples, all pleasure bound to achieve the thousand-pound prize. Their host encourages them to let their imaginations run wild. Their identities are private, as is each chamber. Once the masks are off, anything can happen. And usually does.

Preparing for a special night out, Bella is reliving an afternoon of erotic pleasures with her lover. She has arranged to meet her lover at a masquerade party for four couples, who will ‘compete’ for a prize of one thousand pounds and the winning man obtaining the unofficial title of “Best Lover in London”.

While the story was quick and short, Cecily French maintained the ‘feel’ of the era, utilizing language appropriate for the time, and providing small details for readers to visualize the clothing and furnishings. Very quickly, the story becomes a series of sexual encounters, conversation and scenes between Bella and Ian, and while none are particularly unusual in this day and age, the frequency and experimentation, particularly in the time period in which the story is set does help to explain the intrigue. And, the wicked twist at the end was a clever surprise that added to the story.

Looking for a quick, short read that is different from the norm? This is the book.

I received an eBook copy from the publisher for purpose of honest review for the Jeep Diva. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

Cute

I liked the mystery of trying to figure out who they were. I was surprised and really enjoyed this short story.
