Rate this book
Sacred Sexual Healing: The SHAMAN Method of Sex Magic blows the bedroom doors off an underground Tantra revolution, exposing the work of the modern Daka and Dakini and making available practical, sacred sexual secrets. In a clear, down-to-earth voice, we offer dozens of exercises to: experience your body as a temple; release guilt, shame and fear about sex; increase your orgasmic potential; get your needs met in relationship; and direct your sexual power to manifest your deepest desires.

Women may rediscover their libido, relieve pain during intercourse, and connect to their sexual intuition. Men will eliminate fear of intimacy, cure performance anxiety, and learn to sexually satisfy a woman. The intention of this book is to heal the greatest collective wound on the planet: the separation between Sex and Spirit.

I had this book highly recommended to me by a Tantrika friend of mine a little while ago. I've been studying Tantra for a while now, and the names of Kamala Devi and Baba Dez seem to be everywhere within contemporary circles. And for good reason! I'm a huge supporter of their work and, especially, the work they do though ISTA. That being said, I've always been a bit sceptical as well.

Cons before pros of the book: Where it falls flat is when they try and sell an extravagant, '5-star hippie' lifestyle of sports cars, lavish mansions, organic food, and Tantric orgies; descriptions of which made me cringe and roll my eyes. I get they have an image to sell and that they're trying to entice the average person into considering tantra as a spiritual path. But I did find this aspect of the book a big turn-off. From my perspective, it speaks to various issues I've found throughout tantra communities; which I won't get into here.

In any case, despite all that, I actually think this is a superb book, and I'm really glad to have taken my friend's recommendation. The vast majority of it was well-written, practical, inclusive, exciting, and important work that I know I'll keep returning to as I continue on my journey. The exercises are straightforward and easy to understand. And there's some really great advice on how to walk the tantric path, how to practice polyamory, and how to incorporate sex into one's spiritual and magickal practice in powerful and dynamic ways.

If you're beginning your Tantra journey, and want something that's a little more advanced without being too daunting, this is a great resource to check out.

Started reading this book as I was interested in using sexual energy and transmuting it into a spiritual practice. Some really good ideas and practices outlined in the book.

I was not, however, able to absorb myself into the polygamy explanations inside the book.
