If you are a vintage girl with a chaotic house, too much laundry and a child or six attached to your hip, then I promise you are in for a treat...
You see, I want to make your life lovely- to show you the way to a house that's as fresh as a daisy, help you create teeny rituals that will change your life and teach you to bless your days with the kind of tiny joys that often pass unnoticed....
Included in this book are five hundred and fifty gorgeous ways to add a little lavender scented vintage sparkle to your day, organised seasonally so you can brighten up a Summers morning and cosy up a Winters afternoon, while celebrating Christmas, and Halloween and everything in-between!
Alison May has been the Vintage Housekeeper in residence at BrocanteHome.Net for the past eight years, regaling her audience with all the up's and downs of life, love and vintage housekeeping in a teeny tiny 150 year old Lancashire terraced cottage...
Her second book "Life, Love and Vintage Housekeeping" is now available...
Ladies, treat yourself to Alison May's scrumptious puttery treats. Her ideas range from the practical to the delicious and always makes me feel the desire to make my own home a little more lovely.
Some of my favorites: -Decide not to cook, bake or heat anything for three days... feast on salad, smoothies... -Pipe music into the garden... -Change the bulb in your bedside lamp to a pink, peach... -Lunch in the glow of candlelight... -Serve the children "High tea" when they come home from school... -Make a hot chocolate tray: fill a tray with everything you need... -Buy daffodils every time you buy milk... -Decide to have a fresh pillowcase daily...
And probably hundreds more. You will love them.
And if you're not a subscriber to Brocante Home, it is my favoritist of favorite blogs. I only wish all her books were on Kindle.
I'm currently decorating my house and have got so many beautiful, simple creative ideas from this book. I loved it so much I read it cover to cover and planned out my whole year in puttery treats. It's probably not everyone's cup of tea but I think it's a gorgeous book and I can't wait to get started making my home my sanctuary. If you love random little home ideas, read this book.
The ideas presented were ok but definitely not vintage. Basic concepts as candle light baths and dusting the furniture to make yourself happy were not what I had expected to read
Scrumptious Treats For Vintage Housekeepers Lots of advice when to do the chores, Lot of organization and routine schedules, including seasonal scrubbing. All kinds of tips to clean and sanitize while rewarding yourself....and to run a healthy house by just opening the windows. So many ideas just recycling what you have to use it in a different way.
I adore Alison May's books of tips and ideas, I like to read a couple per day to make them last longer - a delightful break in the day. Scrumptious Treats for Vintage Housekeepers is no different, as always Alison May (from Brocante Home) is a fountain of self-care inspiration.
