Ella Quinn delivers a sweet ball of fluff in 'The Seduction of Lady Phoebe'! At a tender age Phoebe falls in love with Lord Marcus a 20 yr old second wastrel son whose on the verge of being banished to the west Indies. Marcus has fallen head over heels for the then "not out" Phoebe, and before he's sent off to far off lands he wants to make a bid for her hand and ask her to run away with him. Drunk on liquid courage, he tries to steal a kiss from Phoebe, only for her to knock his block off and

***UPDATE*** So, I bought THREE WEEKS TO WED, because of Facebook ads, not realizing that it was the same author.... and I really liked it. So, read my review of this book, if you like, but do NOT give up on this author. She does get better!

This is, I believe, a debut novel, and it reads like one.

Lady Phoebe is an uneven character. On the one hand, she has been "trained to defend herself" by her family (boxing, wrestling, short swords and pistols). She is intelligent and more interested in polit

This is a delightful debut by Ella Quinn!

Lord Marcus Finley fell in love with Lady Phoebe Stanhope mere days before he would be sent to the West Indies. He was still a minor and Phoebe not yet “out,” so he despaired of ever winning her hand. That night, out of sheer desperation, Marcus thought to secure Phoebe’s hand in marriage…except in drunken stupor he forcefully kissed her for which he received a facer and Phoebe’s hatred.

Young Phoebe had admired Marcus from afar, and thought he might be j

THE SEDUCTION OF LADY PHOEBE, Ella Quinn’s Regency Historical debut novel is a delightful mix of romance, excitement and charming characters

I have had the good fortune to read this book in pre-release. For fans of true Regency romance, when you open this book, you will feel as though you stepped into nineteenth Century England. Ella Quinn writes with precision and grace. Her language is lyrical. This is a book that fans from Georgette Heyer to Grace Burrowes must own. What I also love about this book is the accuracy of the Regency period both in the use of language and Regency customs.

I love the character of Lady Phoebe, she is a s

This book didn't have the greatest start. For about the first half, I thought I would end up not liking it. But, I persevered and continued to read. And I'm so glad I did! About halfway through the book, things picked up and I was drawn into the story. In the end, though I had a few complaints, I really liked The Seduction of Lady Phoebe.

I have to say, Marcus was the best part of this book. He was a wonderful hero. So sweet and determined to win over the woman he loves. I thought it was adorabl

The trouble with this book - the only trouble in a story meant to be amusing and slightly angsty and sweet, but mostly frothy - is that it's almost a half-book-length too long. About the 60% mark on my kindle the story had already reached its inevitable and deserved conclusion. To drag it forward after that was a really, really bad decision. And the worse of it was the plot device used to stretch it out. An obsessed stalker.

I liked the premise well enough. Phoebe was a young girl at a country ho

4.5 STARS for The Seduction of Lady Phoebe by Ella Quinn

Phoebe Stanhope is not a typical Lady. As feisty as she is quick witted, no one can catch her, especially when she is driving her dashing phaeton with its perfectly matched horses. And unlike her peers, experience has guarded her against a growing list of would-be suitors. But when she encounters Marcus Finley, what she fears most burns deep within his blue-eyed gaze…

Brilliant story with lots of twists and turns. Just goes to show how difficult it is to learn to trust someone after there has been a betrayal of that trust - but that it is possible if the people make an effort to change that way they were.
Very easy to read with strong family ties and their help, some graphic loving and the storyline is strong.
I'm happy to recommend is book.

I won't call this a 'can't put down book' because I contentedly put it down frequently. In fact, I purposely drew out my reading experience over many weeks. I did this not because I was bored, but rather because I fell in love with the characters and I did not wish to let them go.

They are, to put it bluntly, addictive.

I delighted in spending an hour of my busy day with them. Their antics and romance took me back in time and for that one hour, I was there with them, wishing Phoebe would just fo

Marcus Finley "knows" Phoebe Stanhope is for him the first time he sees her. Unfortunately, his cockiness and inebriated state cause him to take far too many liberties with the innocent fifteen-year-old, and she runs away, traumatized. Marcus realizes he has burned his boats with her, and agrees to be sent to the Caribbean to manage the family holdings. But he doesn't forget Phoebe; he names his ship after her and hopes against hope that when he returns she'll still be available and willing to f ...more

The Seduction of Lady Phoebe is the first book in The Marriage Game series by author Ella Quinn. If you like your historical romances accurate, steamy, and intriguing, you do not want to miss this read.

The story begins with the Hero, Lord Marcus Finley, on the cusp on banishment to Jamaica in what his father hopes will stop his son's further slide into all sorts of debauchery. He's a twenty-year-old second son living as if he has nothing to lose when he sees Lady Phoebe at a house party. She is

I relish when authors fashion unconventional heroines. Ms. Quinn does just this with Lady Phoebe, a well-dowered gentlewoman skilled in the finer arts of riding, pistol shooting, boxing, and small swords. Yet all of this bravado is only a cover for the painful memories buried on the inside. Phoebe’s young heart was broken when the one person she thought shared her progressive views turned out to be a presumptuous rogue. Now, eight years later, a charming knight-errant has rescued Phoebe, twice. ...more

I received an ARC of this book (ebook) via NetGalley.

The author of this book was initially unknown to me, but upon reading the blurb and seeing the cover, I was intrigued enough to requested a copy to try. I must say, despite not being quite sure at the start by the end of the book I knew that I had enjoyed it very much.

When Lord Marcus Finley falls in love with Lady Phoebe Stanhope, the timing couldn’t be worse. Marcus is a callow youth of 20 being exiled to the West Indies because of his bad behavior and she is a sweet young thing of 15 with a tendre for Marcus. Desperate to secure her affections, Marcus makes a clumsy advance to Phoebe and scares the daylights out of her which results in her socking him in the nose and knocking him to the ground. I had the wonderful pleasure of reading The Seduction of Lady Phoebe pre-release. Ella Quinn is a new author that writes with beautiful detail.

Lady Phoebe Stanhope is a spirited young lady that uses her quick wit and not so lady like behaviors (sword play, shooting a pistol riding astride) to protect herself. She is from a big family that encourages her independence by not forcing her to make a match unless her heart is in it. Phoebe keeps the walls to her heart guarded due to a lack of judgemen

I'll start by saying this was not one of my favorite books. There was just something about the beginning of the book that annoyed me. I think it was because Phoebe had such a strong negative reaction to Marcus that I thought was a little out of proportion. Needless to say, I continued on and ended up enjoying the book. As the first book from the author, it was pretty good.

Phoebe meets Marcus when they are both young. Marcus has fallen in love

'Let the games begin!' ________ 3 1/2 stars

An amusing regency romantic romp complete with banished lords, thoroughly modern gun toting ladies, and the requisite villain.
Subjected to the unseemly behaviour at the tender age of fifteen by Marcus Finley, Lady Phoebe resents him for eight years. As a callow drunken youth he had forced his attentions upon her. He was brought up short by a punch in the nose delivered by Phoebe's strong right arm. Phoebe had until then secretly admired him. On the eve

Sweet and romantic 4 1/2 stars
Ella Quinn is a new author to me and decided to read the story of Phoebe, set in the Regency period. THE SEDUCTION OF LADY PHOEBE is a charming and romantic historical romance!
The story starts as Phoebe, a young girl, punches a young man, as he declared his love for her.
This strong-minded young person will never forget this moment. Their love/hate relationship started with a bang! This young man in question, Marcus still loves her very much and knows quite well th

I looooved so much The Seduction of Lady Phoebe! I must say, I deeply enjoyed Ella Quinn style, it's fluid, engaging, romantic and passionate, clear and detailed but never boring; the story is amazing too, the characters are funny and charming, I liked this caring and relaxed mood between Phoebe's relatives and I most definitely love Marcus!

It is so sweet. Marcus is splendid and together with Phoebe they are perfection. He is so real, I loved his insecurities; she is passionate and spontaneous.

Kissing Lady Phoebe Stanhope was the best and worst thing a young, impressionable Lord Marcus Finley would ever do. He had always loved her and one kiss would seal the deal and make her run away with him, yet Phoebe said no and promptly broke his nose.

Marcus never lost one moment of his longing for Phoebe even during his days and nights repairing his reputation in the West Indies. Upon his return, he seeks her out to explain with a full heart his hopes of wooing her into his arms again. The conv

This is Ella Quinn’s debut novel, and it really made me chuckle all the way through!

We meet our heroine Phoebe when she’s only an impressionable fifteen, and from that first meeting a reader as well as our hero Marcus, are impressed by her maturity and spunk. No wonder Marcus could never forget her!

I was also impressed with Ms. Quinn’s development of the both major and minor characters, well-developed plot and a villain we could all hate, as well as the pace of the story. I liked that she took

The story was okay. The formatting was difficult to read (no paragraph indents or spaces). Less than stellar editing kept throwing me out of the story, so that it was difficult to identify with either the hero or the heroine. There were issues with abrupt point of view changes, scenes written from minor character points of view, and non-parallel sentence structures. All of these detracted from a story that could have been much improved had it been more carefully edited.

There was so much to love about The Seduction of Lady Phoebe!

I liked Marcus and Phoebe from the first page until the last. Gun-wielding, dagger toting Phoebe has spunk, and I chuckled out loud when she punched Marcus. He on the other hand, knows she's the love of his life, but he's botched things rather badly and may never win her over.

Add entertaining secondary characters (loved the twin sisters), authentic dialogue, and fabulous historical accuracy...oh, and a nasty villian, and the book was a

This was a fascinating read. Ella has a great cast of well developed characters. The story plot was a bit different from most that I read. Young Miss Phoebe has a crush on Lord Marcus who proceeds to come onto her before he is banished to Jamaica. Much later Marcus tries to win back her love. Between the lovesick Lord, an obsessive Lord and interfering relatives you will have to read this book to see how it all ends. Once you start it will be hard to put down. Don't let this stop you.

Story was only OK; Phoebe and Marcus knew each other from long ago. Marcus made a pass at her when she was very young and she never forgave him. He went to the West Indies where he worked hard and became a responsible person. Now back, he wants to pursue Phoebe. This would have been a middling 3-star except the electronic version had such bad formatting it almost hurt to try to read.
