Or not, but I don't have time to figure it out. A perfect stranger willed me his neglected fifty-acre farm, and now, this New Yorker has two weeks to get it sell-ready. With a business to run, I can’t stay in this boondock town a second longer.
But I’ve got it handled—even after a series of suspicious property mishaps. Even after the threatening notes.
My veterinarian neighbor Owen Brooks shows up with a sledgehammer, a wicked sexy smile, and Demon, his appropriately named foster bulldog. But after losing my family, I only rely on myself.
That doesn't stop Owen and the town of Violet Moon from showing up for me. Maybe family isn’t just blood.
Owen and I can’t deny our magnetic connection as we restore the historic estate. But the more we dig, the more my disturbing buried roots surface. I have to confront that grave... and my bombshell family secret.
*Buried Roots is a grittier, heartfelt romcom mystery with adult language and steamy, open-door chemistry that will have you rooting for a happily-ever-after.
Award-winning author of romantic comedies, Terra Weiss brings heart, humor, and happy endings to each of her books. She grew up in a small town in Idaho, but now lives in Atlanta with her mad scientist husband, wacky and wonderful mother, spunky daughter, and the feral ten-pound dogs who run her house. She enjoys jogging at a snail's pace, reading, and piling bright orange mountains of squeezy cheese on her crackers.
Willow was adopted and raised in New York, but when her adoptive parents die in a car accident, she cannot find any record of her adoption, or of her birth parents. Left to fend for herself, she uses skills she learned from her father to start a renovation business.
When she learns that she has been bequeathed an estate by someone she has never heard of, she drives to Violet Moon, Georgia, to learn more.
She is helped by Owen, a veterinarian who has just returned home from Atlanta. He lives with his mother and sisters on the farm next door to Willow, and they become close.
I really loved this book, which was a pleasure to read, as Willow tries to unravel who she is, and why she was adopted. There are repressed memories that surface, and many twists and turns, and surprises, some not so good, before she can learn the whole truth about her adoption, and who she really is. Her relationship with Owen is tentative, to say the least, as she cannot commit until she gets the answers she seeks. The story was very well plotted by the author, with believable characters and scenarios, and I am more than happy to award it 5 stars.

>Are you a small town reader? Grab this one! >Like some suspense and danger with your small town? Get your hands on this book soon. >How 'bout a huge mystery to boot?! Stop reading this, and one-click it!! (then come back) 😉😁
I've enjoyed several from this talented author, and when I found this free ARC from Booksirens, I happily grabbed a copy. This is easy to read, and Willow is easy to love. I connected with her resourcefulness and determination. Owen (in a lot of ways) is just as troubled about his background as Willow is, which makes these two fun to read. Personally, I think she wins that "competition"... hahaha. They are great together, and I love the mutual respect.
Willow's at the center of this mystery, and things aren't adding up. Factor in her déjà vu episodes and the creepy random situations that should not be happening - and it's a very addictive storyline! I probably should have seen the answer to "who and why" sooner, but I didn't. And there is NO way I expected that twist near the end, but maybe I should have!! I'm not sure if I like the conclusions, but they totally makes sense, so I'm happy. IYKYK
This book captured my attention and held it to the end. I voluntarily leave my review, and recommend this author and this read. It's entertaining and I really want to read more!!

Such a cute, comfy read! It was hard for me to put down, I enjoyed every page!
Willow is an orphan with a very complicated past. One that she is having a hard time remembering. When she inherits a castle in Violet Moon, she has no idea who the previous owners are and starts trying to figure out how she is related to them. Things start coming together and Willow is trying to juggle renovating the property to sale, finding out her past, running her business in New York, and falling in love with Owen and the entire town. However, someone is threatening and sabotaging her, trying to scare her away.
Willow needs to figure out what to do with her life and her newly obtained property. Oh yeah, and her heart.
Buried Roots is witty, family oriented, mysterious and all around fun.
By about halfway through this book, I literally could not put it down!! Terra does an excellent job of blending a small town romance love story with a mystery that keeps you guessing to the very end. I cannot wait to read more books set in Violet Moon!
I received a free digital ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
An amazing book! Very intrigued with all the characters from the beginning. The suspense Carrie’s thorough out the book which keeps the interest. Such a wonderful story. Makes me wish I lived in a charming small town. The story line kept me on the hook until the very end.
I loved this novel! I highly recommend this nice and spicy romance with well-drawn characters and a compelling story that brought all the emotions. I didn’t see the twist coming. A wonderful start to the Violet Moon series! I'm a big fan of all of Terra Weiss's books.
Willow just found out that she has been given property from someone she doesn’t even know. She was adopted when she was a little girl and has been trying to figure out about her past, and just so happens that this small town is connected to her past. As she fixes up this property, like the previous owner planned on doing, she meets this handsome Vet who takes her breath away.
Owen just moved back home to take over the Vet clinic. He helps Willow fix the house and barn, while helping her figure out her past along the way.
This book was a cute love story, that had a few twist and turns I wasn’t expecting.
If you love a small-town romance with some mystery and spice, then this is for you!
This is an easy, cozy read and our FMC Willow is easy to love. Willow, a New Yorker, inherits a neglected farm in a small-town and has two weeks to get it ready to sell. Her strong-will and determination felt real and I felt connected to her instantly. Our MMC, Owen, is the handsome guy-next-door who is an absolute sweetheart. Owen and Willow both have issues from their pasts to deal with but their chemistry keeps them drawn to one another. When mysterious things keep happening on Willow's farm as they begin renovations, Owen helps Willow as they begin to unveil family secrets. I didn't see the end twist coming and that made this a 5 star read for me! The romance and the suspense made this an excellent feel-good romance and is perfect if you are in a reading slump!.

Buried Roots was a romance book with a bit of mystery in it, and I honestly wish it were the opposite. I was more interested in the mystery aspects of the book than the romance. It kind of gave me cozy mystery vibes with the setting in a small town and all the side characters. However, I wish we got to see more of them and more of the mystery.
This book is described as a romcom mystery, and I believe it certainly lives up to its name. This was a fun read that had enough mystery to keep you guessing and some romance to sweeten the storyline. My favorite part was learning about all of the characters in this small town and falling for the town that is almost a character of its own.
We start off with Willow traveling to the small town of Violet Moon, Georgia, to meet a lawyer who's contacted her about her inheritance of some property. The only problem is Willow doesn't have any family left, as she was adopted at the age of five and her parents died in a car crash when she was a teen. She has no idea who has left this property in their will, so she plans to get rid of it as soon as she can and book it back to New York where her job is waiting. However, Willow soon finds herself becoming the new owner of an extraordinary 50-acre farm that has a massive country mansion, barns, farm animals, and working farm contracts to boot. Getting rid of this unique property is going to be harder than she thought.
Soon, Willow finds herself discovering new truths about her past while trying to figure out how she could possibly be related to the previous owners of this property. She also finds quick friendship with her neighbors and other habitants of this quaint small town. One of the most notable connections she makes is her veterinarian neighbor, Owen, who is eager to help her learn how to take care of her farm animals, work on the property, and help Willow discover more about her past. When sparks start to fly between the two, Willow finds herself more drawn to this small town and starts to have doubts about returning to New York. This small town story has it all, with friendship, romance, and a bit of mystery, it's an easy read that will keep you on your toes.
While I enjoyed the story, it just didn't become my new instant favorite hence the three star review. I would still recommend this story to anyone who is looking for a lighter read about a girl finding herself in a small town, with a bit of romance and mystery. The romance is spicy in the build-up, but isn't super explicit when it comes to the nitty gritty, and the mystery is definitely on the mystery side, not thriller-esque.
*Many thanks to the publisher for providing a free copy in exchange for my honest review.*
Wow! Willow Dawson is an orphan , her adoptive parents died as a result of a car accident. She tried to discover her roots , her real parents , where she came from etc but nothing . Like she never existed . She was taught all she knows , being hands on by her adoptive dad which came in handy when she was left alone to fend for herself. She has a recurring nightmare about a tall willowy tree, so it’s a bit spooky and sinister that a tree such as this causes her to half end up in a ditch , not only that but finding a small grave with a small cross atop inscribed Willow…..This is where she first encounters Owen Brooks and his foster dog demon who willow managed to tame on sight. She’s on her way to Violet Moon to see a property she has been bequeathed by someone she doesn’t know . That’s her gig renovations, turning over properties and selling them on. When she finds a substantial bit of land and a Mansion with turrets . Even as splendid and ramshackle as it looks from disrepair and lack of paint , she has the feeling she’s found home. Owen Brooks it seems is the guy next door , a Veterinarian . There’s lots to do and more than the allotted two weeks time she’d given herself to get it ready. There’s a lot happening in this excellent mystery romantic comedy storyline, the whole town of Violet Moon pitches in to help along with Owen and Demon who she’s grown more than a bit fond of. This city girl has even found her way around the stables and the horse riding…..Has she found home? There’s certainly a mysterious air surrounding the place….Can she find the reason for her inheriting this fine place and what of her own adoption process untraceable? Needing to find the answers about who she is , with suppressed memories holding the key. She digs deep into more than the mansions foundations with the help of Owen but she can’t love until she knows where she came from . I read this tremendous book throughout the night , it’s that immersive and can’t put it down . I read a free copy from Booksprout and my review is voluntary and my own words
Love a good small town romance? This one’s for you. We meet Willow, a young woman moving to Violet Moon after inheriting an old farm from an unknown person. Willow was adopted and though grateful for such a beautiful home and piece of land being gifted to her, she’s curious as to why the previous owners chose her and wonders if they could be part of her biological family.
When one of the farm animals struggle during delivering her calf, Willow is introduced to her neighbor Owen, the town vet. Willow knows nothing about caring for farm animals but luckily her neighbor and the towns people are willing to help her learn the ropes. The farm needs a lot of work if Willow is going to be able to sell it and get back to her own life and growing restoration business in NY, so she’s eager to get it done asap. Especially after mysterious things keep happening and threatening letters show up telling Willow she’s not wanted in Violet Moon. It does nothing but increase her desire to know about why she inherited the farm and how she could possibly be related to the previous owners. Of course the more she digs, the more strange things that keep happening.
Despite knowing she isn’t staying in Violet Moon long, her and Owen can’t help but falling for one another. There’s a lot of mystery and angst in this story but it is such a good read. Owen and Willow make such a sweet story and bring all the feels with their small town romance. Very much worth the read.
A rom-com mystery that leads to found family and love. Willow is all alone in this world after her adoptive parents died when she was 16. She has had her struggles and faces more when she is left an estate that needs repairs from an unknown person. She now has to find a way to divide her attention between NYC and Georgia, keep her business afloat, restore her new property to sell and figure out her relationship to the previous owner. Now unexplained things keep happening and everything is slowly unraveling except her attraction to Owen, the next-door neighbor and the new veterinarian in town. She cannot be falling for him when she is heading back home soon, but he is gorgeous, kind and very helpful. Owen is moving back home and is quickly falling for Willow, however, he is still battling some demons and she still plans on leaving. Toss in some new friends, new animals and a mysterious past to solve. I enjoyed the mystery woven into the love story of Willow and Owen and was kept guessing almost till the end. I look forward to the next book in the series and since this is a new author to me, I will add some more books to my TBR list. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Suspenseful, surprising, passionate romance with humor I wouldn’t exactly characterize this book as a rom-com but it is definitely humorous in places; more than anything else it is a mystery with unexpected consequences. The ending was not at all what I expected so I loved it! By someone she never met or knew, Willow Dawson is bequeathed a derelict old property in Violet Moon, Georgia along with its animal population. Her plan is to get in and get out fast. Do what she needs to get it on the market and get back to her fledgling renovation business in NYC as fast as possible. She doesn’t anticipate flashbacks of a life she never knew or Owen Brooks, hot veterinarian and next-door neighbor. This was a page-turner if there ever was one. So much happens and the reader along with Willow and Owen are left to figure it all out like a big jigsaw puzzle. I was intrigued and fascinated from the beginning. The sparks between Owen and Willow are quite “visible” in the story. The goats and Demon-the-dog give the story the humor and light-heartedness that it needs. Terra Weiss is new to me but I’ll be looking for other books by her now. Well-written, fast-paced and steamy-enough romance. I volunteered to review an ARC of this book through BookSirens.
A new to me author, Terra Weiss kept me enthralled and constantly guessing. A romance, a mystery, a drama, and a family oriented small town. Willow is an engaging character, easy to empathise with, and realistic. She’s had a tough life and is broken in many ways, she finds it difficult to trust or release control. But she’s very strong in other ways, hugely successful with her business and unexpectedly capable in many situations. Owen is just plain lovely. Kind, caring, dependable, and giving. He also has some secrets and scars that hold him back from sharing but also dedicated, determined and keeps his word. The story revolves around the mystery of Willow’s adoption and why she received the property she has inherited. The chemistry between the two main characters is instant providing a few steamy scenes and the romance underlines the whole story, with the question of can they get past all the problems to make a future together. Some action, lots of suspense, some unexpected revelations, some angst and heartache, great secondary characters that build up the town of Violet Moon and overall a really wonderful story with a beautiful HEA.
I expected a bit more mystery which is why I didn't enjoy it as much. I think I would've rated this higher if it had more mystery because the plot sounds really good. I really enjoyed the small town aspect of this book. The author did a really good job at setting that scene.
The rest of the book is a pretty light read. It easy to follow along and keeps you fairly entertained. Especially in the beginning. But the main reason why this didn't become my favourite book is because I feel the writing style is marketed towards YA readers. Which is completely fine but it's not my thing. It's really simple and easy just like a lot of ya books. It's just not what I'm looking for at this moment. (This is however not a YA book!)
Would I recommend this? Sure for everyone who is looking for a nice light romance book with a mystery aspect I would definitely recommend this.

Wow, talk about being swept up by a book and even dreaming of the book while asleep! I couldn’t put this one down and when I say INTENSE suspense, I mean holy moly intense (bite your nails down intense)!! I’ve never read from this author and I love that I am so beautifully obsessed now!
Willow was such a mystery to me and I had no clue about her past any more than she did and I love that I didn’t know anything or even had any clues!! I loved every moment of this book and my goodness was that a shocker of an ending!!! I think my favorite part is that it’s all from Willow’s point of view and you get so much from the book! There were parts where I thought I would want to read from maybe Owen’s side but I think the entire book is written beautifully!
I have to say that this is another one I would LOVE to watch as a movie but I’m not sure if it would be as great as I have in my head. So many moments where I could feel how Willow felt and the scared moments and the out of control unknown moments! I really really loved this book and I’m so so excited to see what happens next!
This book was a new to me read by a new to me author. I went into this book thinking there may be some level or sci fi in it (there is not) but it turned out to be a good old romance and mystery combo. The story does a good job of introducing multiple characters as you can tell this will be a series. The main mystery of the story is why did adopted Willow inherit a beautiful mansion from people she had never met or had any relationship to. Of course the small town charm comes in and she meets many town characters (the apparent setting for multiple books). One of those characters is the first person she meets in town. From the beginning it is clear they are very into each other but they have the obstacles of the big city girl wanting to finish her business in town and move back and of course a maybe other love interest. It ends up having unexpected twists throughout but still feels like a small town romance more than anything. I definitely recommend checking this author out!

This read is a rom-com mystery. It was hard for me to get into the book in the beginning but I kept reading and I did enjoy it. We meet Willow who is currently traveling from New York to a small town of Violet Moon, Georgia for an inheritance she received but the only problem is Willow has no family left. At a young age she was adopted and then at 16 she lost her adopted parents to a car accident so she has been on her own for years. Willow is trying everything she can to find answers to who she is and why she inherited the farm. Owen is a veterinarian that is moving back to his home town and helps Willow along the way with rebuilding the farm and finding out who she is. They end up falling in love. The mystery of this book was very much there and kept me guessing about what was going on. In the end Willow did find out what happened with her adoption, finding her own grave and why she inherited the farm. On top of finding all that out she also found a family. I do recommend this book to anyone who is interested in a lighter read.
This was a cute book about finding oneself. Willow was adopted and when her adoptive parents were killed, Willow tries to find out about her adoption and who she was before she was adopted. She goes to Violet Moon where she was willed a mansion and it's property, where she meets Owen and his family.
I was intrigued and curious about how the plot was going to plan out. Turns out, I loved the plot and was surprised towards the end 😉 I loved the characters. And Sir Fig A Lot, a baby goat who is attached to Willow. I loved how supportive and caring Owen was.
Buried Roots will keep you on your toes with all things Willow and who she is and the strange things that happen on the property. I enjoyed this book so much!
Buried Roots was a great mixture of romance and mystery. The author does a great job of giving you a mystery right up front, and then slowly unravels it through the entirety of the book. And while that mystery is unraveling, a few others pop up and get resolved as the book goes on. They're like little breadcrumbs that keep you coming back for more. The romance parts of the story were well placed and helped the overall narrative flow. Like the mysteries, the bits of romance were like breadcrumbs that kept you wanting more. The characters are well-written and you want to root for them the whole time. You want them to get the answers to their questions (I'm looking at you, Willow) and you want their relationships with others to blossom and grow. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I look forward to reading more of the Violet Moon series!
Willow Dawson had been adopted, so she was surprised that someone left her a 50-acre property with a mansion, barn, and animals. On the drive there, she sees a magnolia tree she has dreamed about for years. She pulls over and finds an old cross with her name on it! Then she proceeds to the house. The mansion is going to need lots of restoration, which is what she currently does in New York. She will fix it up and sell it.
Owen Brooks is a neighbor who joins her in fixing up the mansion. The two of them gradually become attracted to each other. The town is very supportive and the people are willing to help. Will she discover something about her own past here? Will the welcoming town draw her in and encourage her to become part of their community?
Wait, I want to stay in Willow an Owen world a little longer. I loved this storyline, it gives us a little of everything. Especially the surprising twists. Willow Dawson, restores homes in New York City until she finds out she has inherited a Mini-mansion which includes a farm in Violet Moon, Georgia. On the way to Georgia a white van with no windows shows up to rescue Willow. She later finds out Alpha Male Owen Brooks whispers to animals. The inherited home is 50 acres which includes a look out point an a lake. Small town neighbors an some one leaves a menacing letter telling Willow to go back to New York. Her lawyer Roy Livingston knows the previous family, small town neighbors an his business. Willow was adopted, her adopted parents are deceased an Willow starts to have repressed memories of being in Georgia before. Romance, mysterious happenings, small town noisy neighbors an lots of fun. Fast paced, great storyline. This is a honest review for a ARC.

This small-town mystery/romance is great for a weekend read.
Willow is a hard-working renovation specialist with a business to run and bills to pay. Out of the blue, she's suddenly given a fifty-acre farm complete with hysterical animals and a family next-door who come complete with a handy, handsome vet.
Owen has just moved back to his town to take over the vet practice when he gets caught up in helping Willow renovate her inheritance. As the two work together, they unearth more questions about Willow's adoption and past history.

Buried Roots is Book 1 of Violet Moon Stories by Terra Weiss. A bit of mystery buried in the past along with a current love story. Who could ask for more? Willow inherits a farm in Georgia and goes there planning to sell it. She meets a young veterinarian named Owen. There is instant attraction but she plans on leaving soon. Strange things happen at her farm. She and Owen are looking into her past because she was adopted and has no early memories. Someone wants to stop her. I highly recommend this book to all romance and mystery readers.

Willow shows up in small town Violet moon after inharenting a house from someone she never met... is it a family from her life before adoption?? Through the book Willow is on the hunt to discover her past, all while restoring the house that was left to her, learning to tend to the farm animals, and falling head over heels for the local vet. But after mysterious things keep happening around the property, Willow is starting to think that she's losing her mind! I did feel like the end was a little rushed, and a lot of information was given all at once, and not sure if I would have been able to process all of what happened like she did in real life (yes... I know... it's a book)
But, book was so much fun to read and overall cute.
This was a page-turner for me. I couldn't put it down. The characters were a good mix of romantic and complex. The flow of the story was very easy to follow and connect with the characters. The names of the businesses in the small town gave me a chuckle. I did not expect the twist at the end of the book. I did not see that coming. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good romcom mystery that will keep you reading to find out what happens next.

I really enjoyed this book. It was a quick read for me. I was curious about Willows past and wanted the answers! In my opinion I would describe this more as a romantic mystery than suspense. There were more questions about Willow’s unknown past for most of the book but definitely towards the end was more where I thought it most suspenseful. I thought the book was well written and an easy read. I will look forward to the next in the series. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily
I really liked this intriguing mystery. It drew me in right away. Willow is an amazing and hard working woman in her mid twenties. She's been orphaned, adopted and on the streets. She's built up her own business of restoring buildings. A lawyer contacts her to tell her she's inherited a house and land in Georgia. A lot of twists and turns in this story keeping one guessing on what's going to happen, who's the good trustworthy people and who aren't.

Willow Dawson is mysteriously left a house and a large amount of land near the town of Violet Moon. She's adopted and assumes she must be related to the owners somehow. Constant night terrors of a willow tree nearby and a cross with her name on it under the tree adds to the mystery. I was was engaged in the book quickly and read it in two days. Willow's search for her birth family was a journey up to the end. Looking forward to another Violet Moon book! I received an ARC copy and am voluntarily leaving a review.
