I have always been a fan of HA Ironside. It was one of the first set of commentaries that I purchased. Probably mainly because my dad was a big fan of this commentary service. But I’m not sure that I have read through an entire book before.
One of the things that I thoroughly enjoyed about reading this particular volume is the way in which the author makes everything understandable. Sometimes when you read commentaries, they become so scholarly that they’re just not really that readable. In fact, if there was a fault of this book it may have been that it lacked in the scholarly area. But I think it’s just comes from the heart of a pastor, not necessarily the heart of the theologian.
I gave this three stars not because I didn’t enjoy it, but because I missed some of the scholarly work, that’s done in many commentaries
